@Tallturd1 We let it slip away, poor foul management and no D on last drive

I think Roy called it "olé" defense. That last play certainly was that.

But seriously, with 5 min left if you had said "Would you like to be tied with 5 seconds left and St John's has the ball?" I would have said YES 1000% YES.

Tyus Edney (way back when...destroying Mizzou's (last?) F4 chance) proved to the world of basketball that it is really hard to stop a blazingly fast player driving down the court for a last second basket if you are desperately trying not to foul. Melvin's biggest contributions yesterday were proof of that principle (even tho not last second).

It looked like they had never gone over late game situations from that play. Elmarko’s first mistake was not getting up on him and denying him the ball, then he gave him a 6 foot cushion which gave him a big headstart and made it harder not to foul. He should’ve been tightly on him from the get go. There also was no help defensively by flory or DP. We had a hat on a hat on the 3 point like we were up 2 and couldn’t give up a 3, in doing so it left the lane wide open. I’d wouldn’t be that disappointed if we lost on a lucky fade away 3 in stead of a straight line drive to the goal with very little resistance. But this was just a very poor basketball IQ defensive set all around.

@mayjay Tyus Edney vs Misery in the tournament proved you can dribble the length of the court and make a layup with 4.8 seconds left!

BTW Know why the golf courses in Columbia are only 14 holes??
Because they've never played the final four!!

@JoJoAndMe we really waste a few fouls and should’ve tried to get the last one with less than 2 seconds remaining. One of the fouls on Zuby he was 75 feet from the goal. Get in front of him and make the big guy waste some dribbles or trap him trying to get a steal. It was just poorly executed. We also gave away so many possessions not being able to get the ball in. The announcers said we worked on it the day before, you just would’ve never known watching. We looked panicked and like we didn’t expect any pressure at all.
