David Castillo spoke about his visit. Interesting stuff.
David, I have so many questions for you but I don’t need to be a rocket scientist to tell you the only choice you have left to make. We’ll find out what kind of player he wants to be when he makes it.
“The visit was great,” Castillo said. “It was great to see the game, the winning program, and their tradition at Kansas. They told me want me to come in, work hard, and be a high character guy who can be their point guard and score the ball. That is a lot of responsibility coming in from a guy like Bill Self. To hear him say those things was cool.”
"Castillo says he has not thought about scheduling more official visits. He is unsure of when he plans to announce a list cut or a decision but says he will announce when the time feels right.
“I want to play for a coach who believes in my talents, strengths, and what I can do,” Castillo said on his college decision. “I am going to come in and work hard. I am a competitor who likes to compete. I hate losing so I want to play for family-oriented program where the coach believes in my ability.”
If you hate Losing, you only got one choice to avoid that.

Marcus Adams Jr, 4 star wing from California is taking an official visit to KU this weekend. The 6’8 wing recently dropped a top 5 that didn’t include KU since KU and a whole bunch of others offered after his list dropped.
UCLA is the rumored front runner here. Free trip?
For those wondering what kind of game Marcus has. He’s the modern 4, has great size at 6’8, listed 200 but recent film would suggest he’s probably a bit more than that. Physically stands out, strong looking player already (mix of J Will & MJ). Shoots the 3, not crazy about his shooting motion and could see issues with that when closely guarded. Handles are not great, plays above the rim, not a crazy athlete but one that probably will get more explosive with legit S & C program. Really intriguing player wherever he goes

Apologies for missing this one.
5 star SG Isaiah Elohim made an official visit to KU over the weekend. Plays ball with Bronny James at Sierra Canyon. This guy is big time.
This was Isaiah’s first official visit.
That is the loudest gym I have ever been in for sure," Elohim said. “The visit went very well. I like the home court advantage the most. The coaching staff told me the right things and they really want me. They talked about their player development, their winning culture, and what I am going to be when I am there.”
With a visit to Lawrence under his belt, Elohim says he is considering Arkansas, Baylor, and UCLA for official visits.

Recap of Marcus Adams visit. Michael Swain reports:
He said he really, really enjoyed it. The game was his favorite part and he’s never been in an arena that loud. He likes KU’s playing style and the coaches told him he’d fit the Gradey Dick or Jalen Wilson role at KU. Gradey Dick was also his host and said he got along really well with the current players. He liked Lawrence, the coaches and the atmosphere around the program.
Big picture, one interesting thing he said is that he wants to announce a top three soon and commit before summer grassroots basketball starts. He said he for sure wants to visit UCLA. It sounded like KU and UCLA are for sure in his top group. The third school could come from Syracuse (where he visited), Texas, Arkansas or Indiana.

First thoughts from seeing Isaiah Elohim. - - I think I could get to like this guy — -real quick , big time stud. - Handles the ball really well looks like , Coming in with a College Body looks pretty stout , got some ankle breaking moves , quick first step , big time finisher at the rim -decent shot - -ya check - - check - - - & check

Marcus Adams top 3 today, think KU will be on it.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but Marcus may actually end up in 23 class (his original class). If that happens, I think we have an even better shot given J-Will, Gradey & Kev are moving on from the wing. Adams is physically ready for the next level

@BeddieKU23 Yeah worth noting it is his original class. Bossi said we would take him in 23. He would fill one of our main needs and we could attack the other in the portal.

@BShark With the portal set up this way Bill might dominate this decade. Solid roster construction with one or two OADs - one being a transfer and one being an Uber talented freshmen this year.

I did some early scouting of the portal, and I didn’t come up with a lot of great options for replacing the trio right now. Self has had a lot more success with transfers from P5 schools, so I gave up looking for good players on mid-majors. When the portal gets cooking it will be a lot easier to focus on.
Since College Ball is down overall, the available good player pool might actually shrink this year. There’s going to be less 5th and 6th year guys floating around as those guys continue to exhaust their covid eligibility. In Self we trust as usual this offseason.

Yeah I wouldn’t want to guess who we get. No one would have expected McCullar before the season ended last year.

I know doesn’t really mean squat -a tinkers dam but FWIW - - Rivals shows Adams forecast as a 75 % KU. - - 247 shows of his 5 schools of interest only shows UCLA warm the others cool. - -Thing is with these is like on 247 those list of 5 top Schools get posted early early in recruitment - -A lot of times the school the player ends up with isn’t even one of those top 5. - However get this feel he is probably UCLA. - What’s your feel BShark ?
All I know IF he were to commit here - -WOW what a sweet class that would be with Jackson , McDowell , Johnson & him

Adams now ranked #29th after today’s update in the 24 class.
Why he moved: Out on the West Coast, nobody in the class of 2024 made a bigger impression for a move up the rankings than Marcus Adams Jr. did. A 6-foot-8 wing with the ability to play inside or out, he’s got plus athleticism, deep range on his jumper and some real swagger to the way he plays the game. The buzz began with some monster performances for Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne during the fall and then Adams spent the winter lighting up scoreboards all across Southern California. There’s a chance that he could end up reclassifying to 2023 but for now he’s planning to play during the spring and summer and if what he did during the high school season translates, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him make another leap.

Ha, I’ve driven by his high school a lot, as my mom lives a block or two away. If I head down there soon I’ll stop by and give him a pitch to become part of the Jayhawk family!

Really weird I was just on 247 - -looking at Player rankings , came across Adams - WTH – the dam thing said he was announcing in like 2 hours and 53 minutes on his commitment watch -I thought he was announcing on the 7th & why would he be announcing so late tonight ? - Well 2nd thought with him being on the West coast they are 2 hours behind us so it would make that an 8 :00 announcement something weird about that

Little side note. - -I see our ol buddy has raised his head up – Chris Beard being mentioned heavily for the Ole Miss job. - -Him and another guy, say they have been in talks with him - -Yay , he gets hired by Ol Miss he will get a chance to Coach against Texas in the SEC lol
