ALL I WANT FOR XMAS
-
…is a win over SDSU. Last year during xmas week…Temple 77…KU 52. The year before a few days after xmas…SDSU 61 KU 57. This is the game of the year for SDSU…it will be sold out.
-
@KUSTEVE I will definitely take that as a Christmas gift!
-
… is for Bill Self to take his own words to heart.
-
@KUSTEVE I think there’s a correlation between those two games and the way those two seasons ended. This year is feeling a bit better than those two seasons.
So I guess that’s what I want for Christmas, a better feeling than the last two seasons!
-
You know the story…
-
If we don’t come ready for this game, why would we think we will come ready in March on the first weekend when we play Watchamacallit State?
…or in a later round against our supposed “little brother” in-state university that has beat us TWICE in March now?
-
@drgnslayr Good points.
Regarding Wichita State and the chances of playing them March…they better figure out a way to be in the NCAA bracket before worrying about another game against KU. They are currently 5-5. They do not play 1 team ranked in the top 25 for the rest of the entire year. How is this an NCAA team if they don’t win their conference tourney? Look at what the committee thought of their amazing team last year when they gave them a 7 seed.
-
In all fairness, there is no question that WSU was grossly under seeded last season. They were ranked in top 15-20 in every poll at the end of the season and top 10 throughout the season; the lowest the should have been ranked was 4-5. They do have a tough non-con schedule and since VanVleet is back they have wins over UNLV, Utah and St Louis and a OT loss at Seton Hall a good Big East Team.
-
I’m thinking the same. I would be very happy tonight if Kansas wins the game. If Kansas wins a great Christmas gift and a happy one. I don’t even want to think about what a lose would do to my holiday enjoyment.
-
@JayHawkFanToo so you think they are a tournament team this year?
-
@joeloveshawks You’re not asking me, but I’ll tell you anyway. NO. And in past years, they’ve done a great job of scheduling and marketing. They have never been a threat to go all the way. Even in the 35-0 start a couple years ago, me (and others) said all along - as soon as they play a non cupcake team they will get beat. And they did. Now they’ll disappear for another 30 years until they get 2 or 3 more quality players.
For anyone who’s ever seen the movie “Just Friends” - WSU is Dusty Dinkleman.
-
@nuleafjhawk nice analogy!
-
Yeah… chances are we will end up a 1 or 2 seed and we will draw WSU first game this year as they barely make it into the dance.
That’s what I think.
If WSU was Duke and in this situation, they would still be ranked in the Top 10.
-
They are favorites to win their conference and they are still a very good team…when fully healed and provide they don’t get any key injuries.; their margin of error is very small
-
@JayHawkFanToo UNI could be quite a challenge. I was very impressed with the Panthers in their game against the Clones.
-
@nuleafjhawk I agree. At 5-5 they have 20 games left in the regular season. Let’s say they go on a really nice run and win 17 of those 20. That still leaves them with 8 losses and probably only a couple of those over tournament teams. Hard to believe that is an at large bid. All that said they will probably win their weak ass conference tournament and then get into the dance and make a huge annoying deep run.
-
They are going to be LOADED FOR BEAR. We better bring our A game: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/25423377/observations-beating-kansas-could-save-san-diego-states-season

2 years ago KU was soft and very young. I do not expect a repeat of that home game against SDSU. I believe KU will win tonight. The final margin of victory is in question though.
I want to add that KU is a very tough team this year. On par with, most recently, the 11-12 team. Totally different team but still, same toughness and most importantly, maturity and experience! KU will not let SDSU win. If they can at least shoot to their averages and keep the floor spaced, pass well out of post traps, which they can, then KU should win by a comfortable margin.
Im not as certain of SDSU’s toughness, other than they will get amped just by having KU there and their fans will also be amped. KU needs to take the wind out of their westcoast sails immediately. Couple stops, couple treys, couple lobs to kill their spirits.
-
The loss to SDSU was the game before the Super Bowl. You’re thinking of a different KU struggle-game routine.
-
@Lulufulu I like that game plan.
-
@Lulufulu If last Saturday was Upset Saturday, it’s looking like tonight is near-upset Tuesday.
Oakland takes Sparty to OT before losing, Cincinnati gets beat by a late Iowa State three.
And even UMKC is looking respectable so far at Louisville.I like our chances tonight…I’m just sayin’.

@MoonwalkMafia January 5th. Close enough for me.
