@Texas-Hawk-10 KU as we seen today is not good enough to be looking past anyone you talk about a crap show.
-
This S - - - show we saw today puts a person at a total loss for words. KU just seemed like for the longest time today felt like they could take over this game at any time they wanted. This was like the most non cholent , I just thought we were in trouble even at about the half way point in the first half, Peterson did not impress me at all , be he by far wasn't the only one who cost us this game--that was a team effort. Our Fog got turned into a pup, Trey was just out there, and if we can't start to find some solid three point shooters in the future it's going to be the same thing year , after year , after year,
They were projecting seeds in the pregame and they had KU as a three sed, if we are not careful were going to drop to a four seed for sure and then four sure another early exit meaning if we would win our first game then we would have the good fortune of playing the number one seed in our second game - - -WOO HOO
-
The psychology of our loss and Houston's loss are so different. I would be surprised if we even give them a battle Monday night.
-
Cincy deserves a lot if credit for sure

Yet, they were looking past Cincy today. Not the first it's happened to a team, and won't be the last time either.

Shake-your-head losses to WV, UCF and Cincinnati to go with shrug losses to Iowa State, UConn, Duke and UNC.
Gutsy wins against (at home) against Arizona and BYU and on a neutral floor vs Tennessee. Also guts wins (but near losses) @NC State, @TCU, @Texas Tech.
What does all of that mean?
I think, it means we are capable of beating anyone on our best day. But capable of losing to anyone with the slightest lack of focus. This team has top-tier talent but is not consistent mentally. It's a fragile team when undisciplined. In years past, we have seen these kinds of teams in the SEC and ACC.
They usually underachieved in the tournament... usually to a gritty team with less talent and more heart.
Sometimes that was a mid-major. But I remember a time with that team with a big heart was Kansas.
-
Our team is as capable as 2022 of winning the tourney. There was a point in that season that felt like the wheels were falling off. We arent there yet.
-
@approxinfinity Agreed. Horrible loss today, but we were all singing a similar tune after that TCU loss in early March of 2022.
Edit: and the Kentucky loss at home
-
@bskeet We are definitely a high variance team. Which makes sense when you look at our best player and his availability. But the total inability to force turnovers is a real problem. Combine that with being horrible on the boards and you're just giving up so many possessions to other team. Starting 2 bigs you have to be good on the boards
-
Well that was ugly.
Not so fun with the box score. where to start...
3PT FGs
KU: 4-18
Cincy: 12-31
I'm sure ya'll can do the math on that point differential.
REBOUNDS
KU: 29
Cincy: 40
Non-box score related stuff:
-- Cincy did a great job on defense. They limited Melvin and Elmarko from getting to the rim.
-- The Cincy big had a monster game. way over his average for points. 28 pts, 8 boards.
-- Flory was great. Hustled and seemed energized. But he let the big dude score 28 points. Well, he was one of a few at least.
-- I don't buy the trap game B.S. No team should not be prepared to play in any competition.
-- That's a really bad home loss. That will count against us in the NCAA seedings.
-- DP played. go figure.

Do we suck now? Can we beat K-State?
-
@nuleafjhawk In response to your question the answer to your million is will K/State beat us is drum roll please - - - -- YES they sure will if we play like we did today playing like absolute dog s = = =/ and there you have it you heard it here. Monday could get really ugly, real fast
