@Lulufulu yes, more than I thought there would be. I guess they would be KU, not just USA fans.

@Lulufulu Looked to be quite a few.

@Lulufulu I didn’t hear one. But not wearing hearing aids and sound down to not disturb sleepers. Don’t think they had the place mic’d very well for crowd noise anyway.

ESPN’s report on the game:
Jayhawks open strong in South Korea
Kansas forced 20 turnovers to beat Turkey 66-57 in the opener at the World University Games. Bill Self’s squad is representing the United States at the event. Wayne Selden Jr. led the Jayhawks with 19 points.

I’m in lawrence… central time (Yuk). Beer fridge is always full though, so if anyone is up for the next game, come on over. It’s at 6:30 am, right? 5:30 somewhere.
-
@DanR Does that include breakfast with the beer or is beer the breakfast?
-
“I guess they would be KU, not just USA fans.”
Amazing how many KU fans were there. There were also some USA fans. Easy to tell them apart… KU fans wearing Jayhawk gear and the USA fans draping American flags and what not.
We could have a game on Mars and I bet there would be at least 1000 Jayhawk fans make the long journey.
Hey… sounds amazing… interplanetary basketball game? And Kansas first again? Maybe we could sprinkle some of Naismith’s remains on other planets… Make a claim on more Jayhawk turf!

@Lulufulu Yes, the chant started up with about 1:30 left to play There were about 75 to 100 fans in KU gear at the game who I’m guessing live and work in Korea like me. There was a group of about 15 fans including KU mega donor, Dana Anderson, that looked like they traveled all the way from the US to attend.
Interesting to note that the U.S. Ambassador to Korea (along with a security detail of about 30 people) chose to spend the 4th of July attending the KU v Turkey game. Usually they spend the 4th hosting functions at the ambassador’s residence. Pretty cool that he met with the team afterwards.
Wayne Selden stood out big time. Really confident in warm ups and in the game. The alley oop play was a real crowd pleaser. Showing some leadership too. He got after Bragg for turning the ball over when he should have inbounded the ball to Mason. I predict he will be a lottery pick after this season.

Just watched the replay of the game. If you go to Watch ESPN APP and scroll all the way to the right, there is a tab for WUG and click on it and you’ll see our game.
@RoKChalk Way to represent! They interviewed the Ambassador at halftime and he tweeted after the game our score. Glad to see him healing and there for us.
