I mean, this is a pickle.

That Okie St. game was the true high and low for fans. After watching his first half performance, yer like, F yea, I’ve never seen a freshman in my lifetime play as effortlessly and smooth as DP! He’s awesome. Title town!

Then the second half your jaw drops in shock and disbelief: cut this @#$&ing guy! He can’t be counted on. What an embarrassment!

Before last night I had come to terms with it, thinking it is what it is.

Now he seems manipulative and slimy.

I won’t be sad when he moves on.

National media is absolutely ripping him apart today. That's why this thing is so weird to me. Other than preserving him from injury(and he still plays part of the game anyway, so what does that do) this cramp thing is ruining his perception to the general population.

I'd kick him off the team. Coach can simply say we're shutting him down for his health. Does two things. 1 makes him accountable to himself. He'd probably move out of town the next day and he might actually learn from it. He might sit there and say dang, what have I done? Sucks for us fans but I'd say this has sucked for us fans a lot as expectations were sky high. 2 It may serve as a catalyst for the remaining players who have proven they can play and win against quality teams without him.

The above comments are why it’s such a weird situation. If plays like he did if the first half last night or against BYU. You can say this kid is a key piece to us doing anything in March. Then you watch the ISU road game, the Utah game when he played a good number of minutes but did nothing. Some part of me is thinking not to worry that he is going to uncork some crow pie of epic proportions come March with all the mainstream hate he has seen these last few weeks.

yea, therein lies the rub, huh.
If he's truly, truly hurt, then it would be hard to give him the boot.

But if it's all smoke and mirrors, that's a different story.

              We'll never know! šŸ˜ž

@rockchalkjayhawk Yes of course we truly don't know but Selfs reaction when he made the shot right in front and turned around kind of told that side of the story. He reacted like he was pissed.

It's interesting that Acuff's historic 49 points last night came 2 days after a protective boot coming off his ankle.

There is also videos of Caleb Wilson warming up and still practicing with UNC. As well as him saying he is playing in March no matter what. I think that watching DP play at times he obviously has had some ailments. But he seems to not want ti play thru them at all. Cramps are something most players go thru and play thru at some point in their careers. Jay Williams said on espn it’s looks as simple as he flat out doesn’t have any desire to be here and play the college game. This is why the OAD rule is silly, it really doesn’t change anything other than you are holding a guy against his will at a lower level.

The whole "cramps" excuse seems like complete BS. If it were just that you would see medical staff working on his leg and you would think he would be back on the court after working on it and fluids. Think about the top tennis players in the world - guys on the court for as many as 4-5 hours. Regularly have to work through cramping. Get a medical timeout, eat a banana, get hydrated, then back on the court slugging it out. Peterson is not a more finely-tuned athlete than Alcaraz, Djokovich, Sinner and others...

@kjayhawks2.0 hahaha. Crow pie of epic proportions incoming, totally. Guess that makes us both optimists about this thing, probably by necessity!

The fact that no one outside of the team has heard from DP makes it all the worse. Silence has made it so open to interpretation...both real and ridiculous

The national stuff today is more than even I would have thought after last night.

A friend had an alternate theory on DP that I hadn’t heard.

He’s simply bored with college ball.

Now that is an interesting take. But wouldn’t you think if it’s really that effortless for him, he would want to make a more serious historical mark to show how much better he was than everybody else? Something like the all-time record of points scored or 3 pointers made or something, even if just for one game?

And I think that was the first post game interview with Bill that I’ve heard so far this year where he didn’t fiercely defend JP. So curious to see what happens next.

It’s quite the perplexing situation. Best case he helps us win the natty, but even if that comes to pass I think I’ll still probably think of him more as a valuable weapon just passing thru, rather than a true Jayhawk.

When Micheal Jordan scored 69 points, I knew I’d always remember it as the night me and Micheal combined for 70 points — Stacey King, Former Bulls Player

DP is now national sports news.

Personally, I don't think he's bored with college ball. He had a chance to play against the #1 team in the country and didn't. If he was bored, he might pass on Okie State, but not #1 Arizona...

If his intent was to create doubt and concern so he could try to navigate to be drafted by the team he wants... Mission Accomplished.

He's dropping off the top of the draft board and people are saying the NBA teams will have to 'dig deep' to figure out what's going on. Now his team can manage what the top teams know and don't know. There's enough doubt that teams may pass on him if they think he doesn't want to be there.

We've been flirting with being in the conversation for being a real contender as in the fold then just barely out. We have been around the top 10 in defense, points allowed, opponents FG%, 3 point percentage, FT's allowed, FT percentage which separates us from the pack. We have been sufficient enough on offense and clutch enough to hold teams off. The handful of very top teams like Michigan, Arizona, Iowa State, Duke have it in both sides of the ball. Then there are the Houston's the UConn's that can dominate and shut you down. We are not quite there but we are about to jell with DP taking up the slack. Or not.
