FLOOR BURN AWARD: KU @ OU - Jan 8

  • I’m starting a Floor Burn Award to be given after every Kansas game from here on out. In order to win the award, the winning player has to have gone down on the court, scraping for a 50/50 ball. If no one goes for a low ball in a game, no award will be issued.

The 1st winner of the Floor Burn Award for this 2013-2014 basketball season is Wayne Selden.

Wayne definitely brought the scoring magic with him to Norman. But Wayne also brought the kind of hustle we’ve been looking for with this team. He went sliding after 2 loose balls and was a great example for this team of what can happen when players go after loose balls. The first example led to a 3-pt basket, which ended up having a huge impact on the game by helping Kansas maintain a safer scoring buffer from Oklahoma. The second example led to a held ball, possession Kansas.

We’ll keep a season tally so we will know by season’s end which Jayhawk will receive the season award at the close of our season.

As an inspirational tool for this team, please reply with supportive comments for players who show hustle!

  • Knew you’d name Selden. I was impressed by that play as well as his game for the first time this season. We seem to halve a revolving door with players having a breakout game.

I hope we see them all playing this well at the same time going forward.

  • Let’s hope Selden keeps up this fine form until the end of the season. He had another good game against the kitties.
