@rockchalkjayhawk he’s got cataracts. Well, dollar signs in his eyes. Can’t see anything but money.
I know you hate Mahomes but I have zero idea how anyone with any type of football knowledge could pin the losses on him.

Their D is very good
I watched the cowboys game and it’s crazy to watch other WRs get separation and catch the football. The chiefs had 4 drops today. I believe the giants and cowboys had 2 combined. The chiefs have lead the NFL in drops 2 of the last 3 years right in pace to start the season. We need to draft lineman and WRs
-
Like Brady was saying and I’ve heard from many others ----KC has NO vertical deep threat and no I’m not counting KC’s last score as a deep threat.
With their personell they have to nickel and dime their way down a long field and that is not going to take to much time of the clock. It doesn’t help when officals give a good screwin twice in a row - - - – That dam push tush needs to be stopped.- —a lot of talk about Hill possibly coming back via trade — KC better hope so
-
@SlimShaddy54 the chiefs have zero threat at WR without Worthy and Rice. The truth be told even with them healthy that ain’t a top 15 receiver room in the NFL. I’d take Miami, Dallas, Philly, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver, LA both clubs, Green Bay’s receiver room over KCs all day every day. The problem is it’s been the same problem for the last few seasons and it hasn’t ever been really addressed. Smith fighting and making that catch on 3rd and 10 was a huge play and one that I haven’t seen a KC receiver make since Hill was on the team. That ball should’ve been picked
-
@kjayhawks Besides the fact that he can’t hit an open target anymore? He throws most passes in the dirt (astrodirt) or 5 feet over their heads. The few passes that are on target get dropped.
-
@nuleafjhawk that tends to happen when you are running for your life everytime you drop back. Imagine this team with Tom Brady, dude would get sacked 8-10 times a game.

Hollywood was supposed to be our quick guy. our deep threat. what happened to that? Is he just having to play out of position with all our injuries?
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I don’t know that I’ve seen anything from Hollywood in his career that makes me think of a deep guy. He can be useful in the slot and underneath with the guys around him. He has had trouble staying healthy and hasn’t ever been a number 1 guy IMO. If not mistaken he’s in his 7th year and only played 2 complete seasons. One of those years he barely got over a 1k yards with 1,008. Just not a go to guy to me.
-
I honestly wonder if Matt Nagy isn’t a good chunk of the issue. Hard to tell for sure because everyone claims Reid calls the plays but ever since he came back to town, the offense hasn’t looked the same.
-
Hollywood had some really nice catches in some tight spots today

Yea, i’m pretty sure that was the intent when signing him. For the deep ball. Apparently Lamar wasn’t very accurate with the deep toss, so maybe that’s why he never seemed a huge threat with his speed and supposed ability to separate. Nor was Kyler Murray.
Anyways, i think with all the weird injuries on the Chiefs and his other teams, he’s never really fulfilled that spot very well.
I hope when the Chiefs have a full compliment of WRs he can step into that role sometimes.
-
To me it starts with getting the run game going. You are down several receivers and Mahomes pretty much has to be absolutely prefect just to give the team a chance. To me watching the eagles play it’s just polar opposites. Eagles have one of the best lines and RBs in the league. Hurts doesn’t have to do anything special, mahomes has to everytime he puts on his helmet.
-
Chiefs can’t run the ball
We have seen it in the first two games
Mahomes is your leading rusher by far margin
Our RBs are just not good enough
-
@AsadZ could it be our line is a problem?
-
Our team is not perfect but they will be fine. They just outplayed the defending champs without WR1 and WR2.

In his first two years, 2019-20, HBrown had long receptions for TDs several times and averaged over 12.5 and 13.3 yds respectively. However, since then he has not averaged over 11.3 or had a reception over 49 yds. The Chiefs had Rice to stretch the field anticipating having a speedy Worthy, and added Brown mostly for midrange possession receptions. That plan fell apart with his injury and Rice’s injury, forcing Worthy into Rice’s role. The long passes last year were few and far between because of the OL breakdowns that also led to PM sometimes breaking the pocket early. No one had the deep role until Worthy late in the season, and he showed major chops in the SB 2nd half (set a rookie record for yds in a SB by more than 60). HBrown was of minimal use last year after coming back.

@kjayhawks I don’t hate Mahomes, btw. What I do hate is this:
Patrick Mahomes owns minority stakes in several professional sports teams, including the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), the Kansas City Current (NWSL), and the Alpine Formula 1 team. He also co-owns a Whataburger franchise in Kansas City and founded his own foundation, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Additionally, he has investments in sports recovery companies and a stake in Throne Coffee.
He’s way too busy and distracted to give a crap about the job that enables him to do all these other things. Factor in that TS is a global distraction for everyone and - IN MY NON HATING opinion - they’ve been to their last Super Bowl.
-
@nuleafjhawk Britney had the audacity to drop a kid out during one of those Super Bowl runs, right during the playoffs! I think he’ll be ok - the guy looks to be in the best shape coming into the season that we’ve seen yet. Mahomes the only thing on the team you don’t have to worry about. You can nit pick for sure, but worry? Nah. This team will be solid by playoffs.
-
@nuleafjhawk I highly doubt he has any day to day duties of those businesses you mentioned. He is a silent partner in most of those but he’s ain’t in there everyday running things.
-
@kjayhawks I was giving him the benefit of the doubt by saying that he’s distracted. The other option is that he can’t pass anymore I guess the Chiefs could always make him the featured running back.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t think so, our RBs run hard but do not have burst and cant seem to do good job of reading angles and holes.

Mahomes deep ball has never been good in my opinion. Tyreek just made such smooth adjustments it looked good. Tyreek would make a great center fielder with his ball tracking ability. I see a little of that with Worthy, but not the field awareness yet. Hopefully Worthy can play close to 100% at some point this year, I’m not sure how his injury will affect his play - could be ugly.
-
@dylans admittedly, I’m frustrated with the start of this season. But, IMO, there’s something wrong with Mahomes. I don’t know what it is, but if someone watches the Chiefs - even last season - he either throws the ball in the ground, over the receiver’s head, or behind the receiver. He rarely throws a clean, well timed ball anymore. True, he’s running for his life most of the time, but that’s a problem for Reid.
-
@nuleafjhawk It’s his footwork. It’s terrible. But Mahomes is the only source of offense. The running backs suck hind tit - Pacheco is terrible, he runs hard right into his own blockers - maybe he needs glasses. Hunt is washed, at this point I might be faster. Mitchell hasn’t even found the field and Smith is more of a pass catcher. The WRs are injured or just complimentary players - Rice is amazing, but unavailable. Worthy is coming into his own, but Kelce may have ruined his career. Kelce is old and slow. Juju is in his 20s and slow. Hollywood is a good 3rd receiver, but as the featured guy he is limited. Remigio is a returner. Brownlee can’t find his way to the field.
Butker lost both those games. If he hits the extra point against the Chargers the game is tied late and goes to overtime. If he makes that field goal against the Iggles that is the margin as well.
Against Philly if Kelce catches that TD KC wins. If Reid doesn’t go for it on 4th down and just punts, that was the margin of the game.
KC will be fine. Mahomes can be better, but he’s the only reason they’re even in these games. The rest of the team looks bush league. Spags better figure out how to hide Chamarri Connors - that guy is a huge liability. Nagy needs to fix Taylor - his penalties are drive killers.
Take Mahomes off this team and they win maybe 5 games.
-
@nuleafjhawk hard to disagree with with assumption that Mahomes has been a little off. But I still think the guys around him are a source of the issue. Tyreek would go get the ball. Look at AJ Browns catch for the eagles Sunday, when was the last time a Chiefs receiver did that?or the catch Smith had for them. The Chiefs receivers don’t go get the ball IMO is some of the issue. I also think the scheme isn’t working anymore. Chiefs run too many rub plays to get open they don’t have any great route runners that can get separation on their own. Some time I think it’s low because it’s the best spot for it not to get picked. Add in the fact the offensive line sucks
-
It looks like Mahomes deep ball accuracy is poor. 1/4 connect. …so throw 4 deep balls per possession, they do eventually connect. I suspect there would be a higher completion percentage on deep passes if they threw more.
