Real tragedy tonight / American Airline crash
-
Dam this is so sad, an American Airline jet, not the real big jet saying probably a jeet that would carry 60/70 people, not sure how many was on board - - – -But still Jet collided with a military helicopter in mid air at Regan Dc airport.
Have found out being reported the Military helicopter shouldn’t of been there, was over the Potomac River, not sure about the causalities at this point rescue & search boats on the river now.
This Ameican Airline jet originated and took off out of Wichita --hearing the crash occurred at 8:53 praying for survivors, hoping for the best- - just not a good scene

Heard the military talks to a different tower. Certainly seems like a big oversight.
-
@approxinfinity Ya real tragedy, saying this is the deadliest crash back till 2001. They had the audio between the Air controller and helicopter and they asked the copter if they had visual of the plane. They responded they did and requested permission to dis-engage, some question if they actually saw the jet they were about to hit or was if the jet taking off from that other runway?

Why werw they at Reagan? Doubt there will be true accountability

The Potomac is a huge chopper corridor and also is a really typical approach for commercial flights. Close calls have been an issue for years there since it’s such crowded airspace.

I guess the military aircraft was flying too high. Just negligence of protocol I guess.

Oh this is awful. Rebecca and I dated for a hot second and remained friends after it was clear we weren’t compatible. In addition to being a total badass, she was a total sweetheart. This sucks. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/soldier-aboard-black-hawk-chopper-midair-collision-identified-rebecca-lobach-former-white-house-aide/

@FarmerJayhawk so sorry, sad, can’t imagine how bad it is for people that know them. I was cringing hoping none were from here, or that we knew some of them. All seemed really special! 🫶
-
@Crimsonorblue22 than you, Crims. I’m heartbroken. She was really the best of us. Also a certified hooper. If she wasn’t called to public service she could’ve been a D1 coach no question. May her memory be eternal.
-
@FarmerJayhawk sorry man. Thats terrible.
-
@approxinfinity thank you, approx. Everyone go read as much as you can about Rebecca. It’s a tragedy but her impact was really something
-
@FarmerJayhawk very sorry for your loss man. Life throws us some terrible curveball sometimes. Lean on your people.
-
@nuleafjhawk thank you, nuleaf. I’m also angry because of all the misinformation (much of which came from 1600 Penn) about the pilot before her name was released. I can assure everyone Rebecca, a 4.0 student and college hooper, didn’t need special treatment to accomplish whatever she wanted in this life.

Not sure where else to post this, but had to get this out…I think we can go ahead and fire the women’s basketball coach. That guy is terrible, keeps getting good recruits, and failing miserably.
-
This thread is about the airplane collision a few days ago @MoonwalkMafia
-
@approxinfinity Ah. Seems like a good spot to post about KU’s women’s basketball coach…
I’ve flown out of that airport a million times. I lived in DC for several years, and it was not uncommon to see military aircraft flying up and down the Potomac. But I never saw or heard anything like that at night. Seems like a very bad idea to do military exercises at night in DCA’s flight pattern. Very tragic.
-
@FarmerJayhawk absolutely heart wrenching sir. I hope you can come to terms with it but never rush. Grieving has no time limit, we are living on borrowed time.
-
@kjayhawks thank you, bud. It’s been a rough couple days. It doesn’t help to see her slandered all over the internet but such is the world we live in. But the truth is what matters.
-
I don’t like to watch gruesome stuff, especially if it’s in real life. Did I hear correctly that the news was showing footage of the collision? If that’s true, I would sue the living shit out of every station that broadcasted it. How would the families and friends like seeing that over and over and over?
-
@nuleafjhawk it was basically two lights and a fireball, lofi. Im glad that was the extent of it.
