Hurley

I’m glad these rumors about our coach have stopped. Who would want the Lakers job? Talk about stepping into a shitstorm.

  • And this is what concerns me going forward -

“The pursuit of Hurley comes on the 20th anniversary of the Lakers trying to hire then-Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski to a record-breaking contract in 2004. Krzyzewski elected to remain with the Blue Devils, but the climate has dramatically changed in college athletics. The demands of NIL fundraising for non-power football schools like UConn are an especially relentless grind – and expected to become even more difficult.”

IF this drives a coach away that has won back to back championships and has a good roster incoming…my how things have changed.

  • @dylans Their incoming roster is kind of stinky imo but overall I agree.

  • A argument I’m hearing - College sports is professional sports now, but poorly run. Why not go to a professional league that is well run? The nba has its revenue stream solidified. NCAA is rocky at best.

Prima donas at both levels. Only loyal to the paycheck.

No one desires to coach in the minors, college didn’t used to be that.

  • Hurley’s goals and ambition has always been the NBA. LeBron seems to like and approve of Hurley and the Lakers are also having Anthony Davis involved in this process as well to see how he feels. This feels like a Billy Donavan type situation where Hurley really doesn’t have anything left to prove at the college level and this is a relatively good situation for Hurley to walk into at the NBA level.

  • Big time money can take away a lot of that shit storm that you talk about , plus Hurley has mentioned in the past about the NBA possibilities. - An article said he has been disappointed about talks of contract on extension’s/new contract with U Conn

The biggest draw back of the whole thing is having to put up with LeBron James tactics, LeBron believes he is the Coach - -what LeBron says goes , that’s going to be his biggest draw backs if he were to accept. Again Money talks huge , don’t be surprised if the Money is right. He ha shown or talked interest of Coaching in the NBA

  • Doesn’t seem like this is at all about the state of college hoops. If you more than triple someone’s salary and they can run the show at the highest profile franchises on the planet and coach one of the greatest to ever do it, seems pretty easy.

  • 1 year of LeBron, maybe 2? Then possibly sell off AD for draft picks and reboot? In the meantime he can develop all the other guys and try to win one. Hes already proven he can win with a new roster.

  • @approxinfinity LeBron will not put up with his coaching style. It’s going to be a total shitshow and I’m here for it!

  • @dylans haha oh me too totally!

  • You couldn’t pat me enough to put up with LeBron’s BS --but Hurley just might

  • @jayballer67 exactly how much WOULD you need to be patted to put up with it? 🙃

A Lot. like a friend of mine was just here at the house , and said Hurley would be a fool to take the Laker job - -WHY ? - -LEBRON. LEBRON runs that Orginization -Hurley takes that job he will be out of a job in two three years- -it’s not worth it.

Hurley’s goal is the NBA. It can be very difficult for college coaches with that ambition to even get their foot in the door. This gets Hurley an NBA job and even if he doesn’t win, other teams will hire him because the NBA loves to recycle coaches more than giving new guys an opportunity.

LeBron isn’t the biggest issue the Lakers have because it’s not even a guarantee LeBron will be a Laker next season as he can opt into free agency. Rob Pelinka is the biggest issue the Lakers have because he is not a good GM.

  • Lakers offer was laughable. Hurley will stay in storrs.

  • @dylans $70 million is for grins?
