Chiefs season long game thread

  • @dylans yep I think this maybe the last hurrah for the chiefs “dynasty” if you want to call it that. 8 straight division titles, 5 afc championship games, 3 Super Bowl appearances and 2 rings. Jones is gone, Sneed is likely gone, Gay, Nnadi and Allegretti are all in contract years as well several others. Just don’t see them keeping most of these guys with the cap space they have. I think they stand a chance because the defense has been one of the best since DT was roaming the field in KC. Offense will be fine if they keep down penalties and turnovers.

I’m not seeing the end of the Chiefs dynasty. If those guys leave, there should be cap space to sign replacements, right?

Sneed leaving is the biggest scare for me. He would be hard to replace.

IF the Chiefs flame out in the playoffs, the GM surely will go after some offensive game changers.

  • Running it back doesn’t seem to work anyway. You need roster churn. I really hope they can hold on to Sneed. Chris Jones is fantastic, but the cap space is too limited to give him 30 mil a year. Don’t want to end up in cap hell like the chargers.

  • @kjayhawks Chiefs still have great talent. Their issues have been with drops and TOs, stupid stuff which can be fixed.

    D has significant young talent.

    I am optimistic.

  • @AsadZ @dylans @rockchalkjayhawk I thinking they will still be a playoff team but not dominating as they have been.

  • @AsadZ mahomes won’t settle.

  • @kjayhawks I think as long as Mahomes is QB and Veatch can surround him with skilled players, Chiefs should be able to compete for SB.

I see this year as an exception, and I am confident that Chiefs brass will learn from it.

  • @AsadZ God I hope so. It’s a bad philosophy to neglect your strengths.

  • I was just thinking how spoiled we as fans have become, recall Chiefs misery of 90s and 2000s.

Chiefs won AFC West again and are #3 seed while hosting a playoff game at home.

  • @AsadZ When you have Mahomes the expectations are different. Don’t waste the window like the Packers did with Rodgers!

  • Looks like McKinnon is done for the year. That sucks.

  • @rockchalkjayhawk This was expected. I hope we get Pacheo completely healthy for playoff run.

  • So is KC doing at least a local over the air telecast so KC fans can watch without the peacock? I hope this thing backfires so badly on the NFL that it and other sports never consider putting games on a streaming device.

  • @wissox As “they” continue to take our ability to watch sporting events for free from us, I am proportionally disinterested in watching.

Thanks, “they” for stealing our joy.

  • @wissox Yes, available on regular channels in KC and Miami.

  • @wissox The NFL has already made 110 million dollars on the game. They don’t care if anyone tunes in. Peacock is the only one that stands to lose (as they paid that 110 million bucks for one game!)

  • Big gamble by Peacock, let’s see how this turns out for them

  • @AsadZ I somehow didn’t notice, but they said no commercials for the 4th quarter. That’s cool.

  • The only way Mahomes’ helmet gets shattered is from helmet to helmet contact. Again, no call by the refs. The refs missed a lot of calls in the Miami game.

  • How about Rashee.

I think Veatch has finally broken his draft bust record on WRs with Rashee.

  • @AsadZ Rice is the only WR I’d keep on this roster maybe Watson. The rest see ya later

  • That sure was an interesting season! Glad we have a place to talk Chiefs. Fantastic ending!!

So the off-season could be very interesting. Veach and Co. have decisions to make.

We very well could lose some big names. Sneed is at the top of the keeper list for me. CBs like that aren’t a dime a dozen.

And the offensive line! Wow. Could be two or more changes there.

I don’t pay too much attention to cap space, but the Chiefs have about $30M to play with. Almost league average.

Chris Jones is gonna get big money here or elsewhere.

We’ll have one or two new running backs next year to back up Pacheco.

Lots of stuff to talk about in the off-season.

  • Doesn’t get any sweeter!

  • Shots fired at parade!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 People suck.

  • 10 people were shot at the parade - -5 hospitalized , what the hell is wrong with people. -2 people were being detained

  • 1 person got killed, so tragic.

  • just got update and yes one person has died and now saying at least 15 others injured

  • @jayballer67 Something has to happen in this country - but unfortunately nothing ever will.

Agree a lot of sick, sick people anymore

  • Repeal the 2nd Amendment. Or I don’t know, can you keep it but rewrite it?

  • This is so upsetting. I have a LOT of family and friends in Kansas City. Including my son. Thank God he’s not a sports fan and would never attend something like this.

I am incensed that our jellyfish government allows this bullshit to go on. There’s a mass shooting in this country weekly it seems.

This crap doesn’t happen in other countries. At least not on the scale that happens here. I wouldn’t give a shit if they melted down every automatic weapon on the planet. They can start tomorrow.

  • Video of regular folk tackling a shooter (supposedly).

That would not fix the issue. If it was full automatic assault rifles and they intended to kill there would be considerably more dead. If I wanted to kill as many folks as possible to sew mayhem I would not use a gun, I’d use a spray drone with a chemical agent and wipe out tens of thousands at these events. For less than 100k you could easily wipe out a stadium of people. The issue isn’t the inert chunk of metal, it is the people - the bad actors. People killed and hurt other people for their own selfish reasons and until people start thinking and caring about others this will continue to happen. A million people there to have a good time and all it took was a few to ruin it for everyone.

As for this not happening in other countries. Wow what a wild misconception brought on by distance bias. The US averages 6 murders/100k people. Too much, but Jamaica averages over 50/100k. The places with the lowest reported rates are places with few of the freedoms we enjoy such as China or another reason for low murder rates like in Oceana is due to greatly underreporting murders for perception reasons.

Hyperbole spewed by our media and leadership in these moment is self serving and does nothing to address the issue of a complete lack of moral fiber in the people committing these crimes.

The KCPD and the locals that helped detain the shooters are amazing. There will always be bad people, but it’s great to know there are equally good people out there willing to risk their lives to protect others.

  • @dylans Murders are not mass shootings. We are far and away the “leader” in this category.

Proving the point that people will get it done one way or another. I mean people turned paraglides into assault weapons. Ban all rocks to prevent stoning. Bad people are the problem not objects. More folks have been killed by rhetoric than anything else, ban speech.

It is a problem, but the root cause is still the same. People.

  • If the line “it’s the people that kill, not the weapon” why would we make the weapon available to people who could use them to kill a lot of people? We ban other weapons of mass destruction for personal use, so why not these crazy assault weapons that are being used?

Someone studied shooting victims and the average price per victim is over a million dollars in this study.

Another aspect of our gun culture is suicide. Half of gun deaths in the US are suicides. People who want to die are way more successful if a gun is available.

There’s a lot of reasons to have a serious drawback of gun ownership in this country and the time is now.

  • @wissox - my brother was murdered by a car. The driver has shitty parents and borderline personality disorder. I don’t blame the car. One of my good friends growing up was murdered by a gunshot to the back of his head while driving. I blame meth not guns for that one. I had a friend blow his brains out after his girlfriend overdosed on his acid. I blame drugs and social pressures and internal strife created by the adoption process for that teenage suicide. Misplaced blame only creates a new issue. It’s easy to say take away the guns. Then it will be something else that needs taken away and another freedoms and then something else, because the root cause is being ignored. - from my viewpoint it’s a lack of morality, personal accountability and fortitude coupled with an external pressure such as envy, anger issues, undiagnosed mental disorders, greed, drugs, alcohol, debt, etc.

I hate that any of this happened, but there is no easy solution like take away the guns.

Instead of celebrating a champion we are discussing those spoiled brats.

  • @dylans So why not have more controls over who can get guns, so as to protect against those bad people? Why not have mandatory training and restrictions on carrying guns openly in public areas?

I understand gun ownership for protection but don’t think that means walking down the street holding assault weapons.

The country has survived with restrictions on types of guns like machine guns.

  • Move this to the politics board, please.

  • @wissox the guns don’t kill people retort is from people who love guns. if there were no guns, i’ll take my chances at mass baseball bat clubbings or mass swiss army knife stabbings. people want to kill people and assault weapons just give them the green light to do it.

you know i’m serious when i use my e.e.cummings style.

  • @nuleafjhawk Lol I don’t even own a gun. Don’t like to hunt. But disarming the people has never led to good things.

  • @dylans I’m sorry - I wasn’t referring to you personally, but I see how it looks. I just get upset with all the shooting BS.

  • @dylans Sorry you experienced those losses. None of this is easy to discuss. I really wish that many of the causes you mentioned were taken more seriously.

  • @wissox I think we all have been touched in some way by a similar loss.

I’m pretty sure that without assault weapons, the “people” pulling the triggers in these mass shootings would not kill nor injure near as many. Victory.

Or at least learn to read it.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

That first clause is kind of important. Any of y’all members of a “well regulated Militia”? And what might “regulated” mean?

People focus on “shall not be infringed” as if it’s the only clause in this sentence.

And then often those same people want the rest of the document interpreted as it was written in the time it was written, but never seem to apply that logic to this phrase allowing the people only to bear muskets.
