IIarp decision very soon I read and some very interesting info found

  • Well FWIW ,read an Article from Vernon on the hearings. - said he had heard that the findings very likely would be , could be given within a week , like around the 28th of August /to Sept 1st-- Saying also that if penalties are to be given he thinks the NCAA would not have any problem handing them out over the Labor day weekend Holiday , he also think they will not be very severe.

The interesting part ?- - - Well Vernon said that after reading a report that he had gotten ahold of that Reading Self’s Attorney’s 77 page response to the Amended follow up from the NCAA notice - -Vernon found something that hadn’t been widely reported outside a few local articles.

The information he found/saw refuted the level of Allegations that Bill Self did not promote an atmosphere of Compliance. Vernon said Do you remember the Mystery Car Accident from Billy Preston ? - well Coch Self received an anonymous tip that Billy had accepted Money from Cassnola , as soon as Self heard then he immediately reported the information to a Senior Athletic Dept offical , the KU and it’s outside Counsel filed a self report immediately to the NCAA .

Because Bill Self personally reported the Preston incident - -Billy was declared ineligible & never played for KU. - Vernon says that if the Attorney statements is true then they would have a very hard time trying to prove atmosphere of compliance. - The statement also Corroborates Gassnola sworn testimony that he had took numerous steps to hide payments from the University of Kansas and Coach Self

I find this quite interesting, we shall find out soon now I think - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG

  • I think after this is concluded, KU should sue the NCAA.

I dont think its a stretch to come up with an estimated dollar amount lost if we had won a few more big recruits/ championships / final 4s during the stretch this dragged out over.

  • Probably unpopular opinion - But to me KU should be thankful they got caught in modern times where the NCAA’s power dynamic essentially is non-existent. We will get a slap on the wrist for infractions that would have almost certainly ended with an NCAA tournament ban, vacated wins, and a much larger reduction in scholarships. Hell, if this happens 15 years ago I don’t know that Bill Self survives the accusations.

We got lucky, and if it cost millions to defend ourselves it will have been money well spent.

  • @Kcmatt7 It feels like it happens 15 years ago
