Big Rona Boosters

  • Has anyone had one yet? Any side effects different from the first or second shot? I wanted one before I went home for some of the holidays since my parents and grandparents are older (and my mom doesn’t want the vaccine which is a WHOLE other ball of wax).

I just got mine. It’s a funny story. One of my best friends is a pharmacist and she was operating an off-site clinic today. She had 3 leftover boosters that expired tonight so she called me this afternoon and told me to come over and get one in her kitchen. So there I went to do a sketchy-looking drug deal.

    But, as they say, #ShotsInArms

  • My older brother (40 years old) had his booster. He was lethargic and had a head ache the next day. After that he was back to normal.

  • @FarmerJayhawk I had mine 3 weeks ago. I was so happy to wake up with no chills! Had them really bad with 2nd shot. Bad news, my 88 yr old mom has chills, and some other weird symptoms. She had booster about 2 weeks ago. She has all kinds of people coming in to help her, all vaxxed but not all have booster. Her housekeeper has covid. Find out tmrw. She just doesn’t feel good. Ugh!

  • @rockchalkwyo cool! Hopefully works out the same for the rest of us. It does make me feel better that the Moderna booster is just half a dose.

@Crimsonorblue22 oh no! Hopefully it’s just minor and your mom gets better quite quickly. If nothing else it sounds like the vaccine is doing its job and protecting her! And keep us posted!

That’s why I got mine so quickly. I’m seeing my grandparents (both mid 80’s) for the first time in 2 years this Christmas and wanted to protect them as much as possible.

  • I had mine yesterday, different vaccine than original, so far so good, only pain in the arm.

  • Woke up with 100 fever and super tired. Fun fun.

  • @FarmerJayhawk sucks! Sorry! Some soup, fluids and Tylenol. Moms test neg!🙏 🦃 back on

  • Sorry to hear people are having reactions to boosters. Good job getting them. Got Pfizer boosters on Nov. 9th with my wife. No problems. She had a sore arm. I couldn’t tell which arm I got it in (thanks to my magnificent shoulder muscles probably). We are primed and ready for a Very Big Damn Turkey Day at 100% vaxxed on my wife’s side (35 people). We’ll enjoy the company of a couple of anti-vaxers on my side the weekend after. Got a few BinaxNow Abbot labs 15 minute home tests from Dillons/Krogers for anyone that might want to double check before killing off weaker members of the family.

The US needs far cheaper and more readily available tests… what I’ve noticed is that even anti-vax folks are willing to take tests before mingling with family when it finally dawns on them that their choices might affect people they care about.

That’s funny. Yeah, had my booster, no ill effects. Got my flu and pneumonia shots too.

  • Sooo that wasn’t fun. Fever finally broke overnight.

  • I heard boosters have been worse than the first two…

  • I’ll be getting mine, but I’m not looking forward to it. I’ll push it off to like a Wednesday in January so I can burn a sick day or two.

  • My wife and I got ours Saturday (at Sam’s Club. You can get them at any pharmacy, McDonald’s or gas station) My wife’s shoulder was sore for a couple of days. Mine for a couple of hours. No other side effects. Ours was Moderna. We’re both 63.

Just because I’m an ass, I’ll throw in that I never get a flu shot, but we got vaccinated because it’s the socially responsible thing to do. I have no regard for anyone who isn’t vaccinated unless there’s a really damn good reason.

  • @FarmerJayhawk oh geez! I’m guessing you still had good strong antibodies? I had terrible chills and low grade fever after my second shot. I couldn’t stop shaking, then my calves cramped from all that shaking. My booster was zero side effects. 👏👏😎
