Getting Gradey would pretty much put us out of the running for Griffen I would think. @BShark thoughts?
Remaining 22 needs, a Big (true 5 type) & another guard. Issacs maybe?
I like Griffen a lot, but bird in the hand. Seems like they want another wing. I would love Griffen but maybe Shaw is more realistic.
-
Same, Griffen has been #1 on my G/W board for a while. However I think Gradey will be more prepared to play as a freshman due to where he plays HS.
-
All this talk about Baylor! we will see if they can sustain success and continue to add top 25 ranked guys. He’s had talented classes before and they’ve been good but not great. Drew got lucky virtually all of the fringe nba level guys he had stayed and ku lost a guy like Devon.KU is a top 5 team, if not drafted, Devon stayed! Grady dick is a top 50 player, and someone that would stay 3-4 years. If we add consistent top 75 guys we will be fine. Also the moment this ncaa thing resolves, which I would assume by this summer we will know. There little recruiting advantage disappears, unless we really get hit for 3-4 years on reduced scholarships and tourney bans
-
So we think Cuffe is staying in 22 and not re-classifying ?
-
We shall see they are likely to lose the 3 guards after the season. They do have an outstanding class coming in, Love and Brown are as good as advertised and the Polish kid is a stretch 4 type with high upside. Flagler will step in next yr and score a ton. They will hit the transfer market hard and find something that and likely will add more highly ranked HS talent. I think this yr is it as far as championship potential goes but they will be a force going forward due to how they are recruiting
-
Picked up another CB for Gradey but it was from Chasen FWTW - from TOS but makes 5 picks for us for him
-
@jayhawks2010 Yeah but Bill knew Devon was leaving (he almost left after his FR year) and didn’t get a real replacement. W/e Baylor did to have their guys stick around was worth it.
-
Signing both Dick and Shaw would be huge. Dick is an in-state must get, imo. He is skilled and athletic. We’ve whiffed on too many in state players of late. The talent level in Wichita and KC is pretty damn good, mine the hell out of it.
-
Randomly, Kansas has 3 top 50 players this year, all listed as SF’s.
-
I don’t count Sunrise kids as in state unless they are from KS. Kendall Brown was from Minnesota. Still a big miss obviously.
-
-
You guys might be familiar with some alumni of his AAU team. Frank Mason and David McCormack.
Kid is a bucket. He had released a top 6 (without KU) but I would imagine KU is a contender here.
-
This class has the potential to really turn things around. I’d like to obviously close the deal on Dick and then get Shaw as well. MOKAN and Sunrise are two pipelines we need.

No question there. The Sunrise pipeline needs to open up, and we have to stay on Mo-Kan. Imagine what our team would’ve been this year without Mo-Kan.

psssst psssst hey , hey , hey lmao - - stop that lol
-
@jayballer67 okay, I’ll stop. But in all seriousness, I’m a Dick guy. I think that he is athletic and bigtime skilled, and will only get better - including on D - under Self. He is an in-state future pro that we must sign.

Yep they are almost identical playing wise
-
Gradey has more bounce i think
-
@BeddieKU23 agree. I think that he has big upside. A team with a frosh Dick and a senior Braun, I’m onboard.
-
I can’t find it
-
It is official gradey dick is a Jayhawk
-
Now get Jayden Epps.
-
there you go Boys & Girls Gradey just announcing KU. - -Surprising the Lady said ESPN has Grady as the # 21 ranked played in the class of 22 , - -Good Job my man - -Welcome to JAYHAWK Nation. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Welcome Grady! I can hear it now. GD to CB for 3!
Looking at rivals I just noticed that Cuffe has gained 22 spots and now sets at 56. No change on 24/7 still at 98
-
Big time get
Great shooter, bounce, improved defender. Will contribute as a freshman
-
Glad to have Dick has a hard commit. I feel like he has a great head for the game and has risen to occasion in the face of stiff competition. Very good length should allow a great stroke and penetration down the line.
i’m so sorry someone help me

I hear ya buddy great length and really good penetrator is really good - -nothing to see hear just lots of length lol
-
@FarmerJayhawk no doubt. And Dick is still young, he is going to get even bigger. He can penetrate at will, and even go ball deep at the rim. His ball skills are more than good, and he will get longer the more that he plays.
-
@Marco Dick’s finish at the rim is smooth and explosive.

Cuffe should be 50-ish just based on his athleticism. Really increasing the athleticism so far with the commits in 22. Gradey is absolutely no slouch in that regard.
Names to keep a close eye on: Aidan Shaw, Jayden Epps
Dream, probably unobtainable: Richard Isaacs JR, Rylan Griffen, Bryce Griggs
I absolutely LOVE Noah Shelby’s game and think he is underrated but he appears to actually be going through the whole package deal thing with Dort. Odds are Vandy or Memphis. Don’t think KU has the, ahem, bidding capability to win that one.
-
Ok so someone please tell me different if I’m wrong on this but I think I got this right but feel free. The way I understand this stands because of this extra year ok so, we are in the 2020/21 year right now. which means Grady is STILL 2 seasons away right ? - -this is the 20/21 season , then w have the 2021/22 season then Grady in the 2022/2023 season right ? I think everyone maintains their current classifcation right ? Cause Mitch coming back as a SR - -again
I think EVERYONE comes back the same as this year. - - So I think if that’s the case I would have this figured right.
How about this for roster ; - -Christian Braun being a JR - -Harris a Soph - - Jalen a Soph ( I think Jalen sticking for at least the 3 years ) - Bryce Thompson would be a Soph , David McCormack would be a SR- - Kyle Cuffe a FR - - Grady Dick as a FR - - Zach Clemence a Soph - - -& KJ Adams would be a Soph - that’s a pretty salty Roster - - -I’m pretty sure that’s right love that roster
-
The eligibility thing is weird, I imagine a lot of players won’t actually use the extra year.
-

possibly , just don’t know. The thing is a lot of these kids are good here at KU but yet not mind boggling , great. - -They typical very fringe type player , the type of player that if they get any shot at all it’s going to be G league at best or over sea’s - -players like that could use that extra year of eligibility to even enhance that chance. - just kind of dreaming thinking maybe about that type of roster chance - -IF 2/3 of those guys were to use that year could do nothing but help their chance if their are right there, a chance to improve even more - - just random thought buddy - -you could very easily be right - but you just never know. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@BShark I rewatched Cuffe’s highlight again (a few times) and holy cow can that kid jump. It’s going to be lob city with this roster.
-
@FarmerJayhawk u went to deep! I’m the only one that could say that! Well

KU with the #2 class in the Country. Never a bad thing to have two studs lined up already
-
His defense as well already, ++
-
-
The Phog’s message board has about 6-7 pages worth of “Dick” jokes.
-
A moment for all of us to feel really old
But an encounter with former Jayhawk Wayne Selden Jr., when Dick was real young, solidified his love of all things KU.
“He was working some basketball camp I was at when I was in elementary school,” Dick recalled. “And the next time I went to a KU game I saw him and he remembered me and commented on my Instagram post.”
He did not realize in the moment, but those types of encounters led to Wednesday night and made Dick want to follow in the former Jayhawks’ footsteps.

The dude is going to star at KU. I’m trying to think of who he might remind me of, but haven’t been able to come up with any comparisons yet. I’ve heard the Braun comparisons and there are worse people to be compared to if you’re a player, but I think he’s more skilled and athletic than Braun. What is he 6’8 and only a junior? Kyle Singler? The guy has handles to, could probably play point if need be. Dick and Cuffe, I’m starting to love this class.
-
I think Sam Dekker- Former Wisconsin Star is also a good comp. Will be interesting to how good he is as a Senior when the offense gets focused around him due to 4/5 of Sunrise’s starting lineup going to D1 schools next year
-
Dekker, forgot about him. Good comp.
-
Please no Kyle Singler comps
