  • Olivia Munn

  • James Garner…Rockford…one of may favorite actors of all time.

  • @wrwlumpy Damn lump, I may be old…but I ain’t blind !!

  • Saturday-Monday turn around is great in preparing for the Tournament. I hope Mason is staying hydrated.

  • Top twenty players ranked in the Big 12.

From Matt Scot on Twitter -Don’t know what the B is in BPM stands for but the OU starting five is tough.

  • Guard play will win this game. They have 3 excellent guards. Hield is the bomber, Cousins is a little both drive and shoot. Woodard is not a shooter but gets to the line a lot. We need Mason to neutralize Woodard, we need Selden to do his best guarding Hield or Cousins and whoever guards Hield must have a hand in his face at all times.

Spangler and Thomas are efficient bigs and will give us problems.

We will have to play a lot better than Saturday to hold serve. Can’t afford to let this team come in here and make shots, our defense must be better.

Last year I believe they played us as tuff as anyone in Allen and I’m expecting they will play us tuff again.

  • @wrwlumpy

    What is Box Plus/Minus?

Box Plus/Minus? (BPM) is a box score-based metric for evaluating basketball players’ quality and contribution to the team. It is the latest version of a stat previously called Advanced Statistical Plus/Minus; it is NOT a version of Adjusted Plus/Minus, which is a play-by-play regression metric.

BPM relies on a player’s box score information and the team’s overall performance to estimate a player’s performance relative to league average. BPM is a per-100-possession stat, the same scale as Adjusted Plus/Minus: 0.0 is league average, +5 means the player is 5 points better than an average player over 100 possessions (which is about All-NBA level), -2 is replacement level, and -5 is really bad.

    = = = = =

    Now You Know !!

  • @RedRooster up-vote big time. Now we all know BPM!

A certain part of me will always have a soft spot for Sooner basketball… even though they partied one year in AFH and cut down our nets… we did pay them back!

  • @wrwlumpy

“Saturday-Monday turn around is great in preparing for the Tournament. I hope Mason is staying hydrated.”

Funny you should mention that. I read once that it takes 3 days to completely recover from the effects of dehydration cramping.

  • @wrwlumpy Yes well all know what it stands for but I still don’t have a clue what that means!

  • @drgnslayr Waymon is the only thing I liked about OU basketball in that era. When we beat them in the final I heard Billy Tubbs in the post game say he knows they are better than Kansas. (they actually were!) Totally classless idiot coach who cost that team the championship by wearing his players out and not going to the bench in that game at all except for one sub.

  • I find it peculiar when I see NFL offensive players playing without knee & thigh pads but College Basketball players needing them. Says a lot about the game and in my opinion the rigors of basketball aren’t as evident on television as they are in reality.

  • @wissoxfan83

Total agree… that’s why I said “part of me.” Another part of me still can’t stand Tubbs.

But I love me some Waymon! He was a great person and a big loss to humanity when he left.

Any mention of OU basketball should include Waymon. The shining beacon on a hill!

  • @drgnslayr Great pics of an outstanding person & one of the top guys EVER in our conf. If you guys have not seen the NBA network historical documentary “The Wayman Tisdale Story”, I highly recommend you set a dvr/search for it. Is as historically relevant to our league 's legacy as the documentary “Wilt 100”, which is REQUIRED for all Jayhawk faithful !! This is a link to the video page but don’t have time to see if it’s viewable online. http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2011/11/08/20111108_schodorf_intv.nba/

Is lengthy-maybe 1 1/2 or 2 hrs if I recall, but as slayr says it will hit that soft spot regardless of any attitude (I still have one) about Billy “Bush League” Tubbs that may linger.

  • Black, Wiggs and JoJo not here this time. I watched this game about 10 times since last year. The way to win this game is to have Energy and wear down a Great starting five that has no bench. Attack and get them in foul trouble so that they have to put subs in.

  • During the Baylor game, one announcer kept calling Tubby Smith - Billy Tubbs.

  • Someone is out to get us. Is it the Big 12, ESPN, or Nike.

  • @wrwlumpy I heard that also…

  • @drgnslayr

He was quite the jazz musician as well…

  • @JayHawkFanToo Tis played a 5 string bass left handed, mostly as a lead melody instrument. Very difficult approach to bass. Also he & Toby Keith were extremely close friends. Toby’s song “Cryin for me (Wayman’s Song)” was a brilliant & beckoning tribute to his dear friend after he passed on from cancer in 2009.

  • I saw Self’s quote about ISU being one of the top two offensive teams in the conference.

I would ask myself the most important question in life – why?

KU has more perimeter talent than ISU. ISU plays a perimeter scheme (inverted much of the time). Ellis can play the inverted game.

With more perimeter talent, could we not play a perimeter game perhaps better than ISU?

    Damn right we could.

  • I really believe that Self gets KU ready to play tonight. I think tonight could be a big night, perhaps a double digit win. This is the kind of game Self is famous for having his troops ready for. I also think tonight will show how good our defense really is. It’s better than advertised.

Tonight, Big Cliff breaks out. 18 points, 12 rebounds. You heard it here second. Just read where @Jesse-Newell picked Cliff as the hawk to rock. Agree completely. Self’s benching of Cliff Saturday should let Cliff know that Self means business. If Cliff doesn’t respond, we ain’t there yet.

  • @HighEliteMajor I agree. I think KU wins this one handily. It’s the one on Saturday I’m pretty concerned about…

  • I personally caused the Clone loss with my youthful exuberance selecting an easy KU win, and my belief the refs would call a foul on the Clones within the first 30 minutes of the game. My KU selection must’ve created an avalanche of bad karma resulting in our worst game of the year, so I won’t be publicly calling for a double digit beating of OU tonight, although I will be thinking it. Once again, sorry for the “double mojo zombie piss” on the good guys.

  • @KUSTEVE me too, I said 10. I’m going to the ISU game at AFH. Not going to beat us there!

  • Well… I showed my gifted skills at picking winners, stating we’d have an easy time and the score would be close only because they would get a mini run at the end.

That’s why I go to Vegas for the shows and food!

I thought I was the one that jinxed us!

Okay… tonight we lose by 20!

  • I felt more confident going into Ames than I feel tonight. I really had determined that our squad was coming together. Now I am not so certain, not so confident. Very hard to imagine Bill Self losing consecutive league games with the talent he has available, esp. with the Fieldhouse to lend advantage. I suppose I would wager a ten spot on the Jayhawks, $20.00 if I could get 2/1 odds. But I would not wager my best shirt on the outcome tonight…not even a seamless pair of comfy boot socks. For 4th day of posts, I still think that Selden and Alexander must better fit in order for current squad to soar. One, SHOULD be playing more efficiently; the other, hopefully prepared to take a belated giant step upward. I don’t envision Bill Self reverting to jaybate’s proverbial cryogenic box with any essential player again tonight. If so, he will have reached such a level of frustration that the Vegas bookies will shudder every time called upon to post Kansas odds.

  • @REHawk you are as depressing as me!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 And here’s the thing: I crossed the Rio Grande at noon, drank and kicked up my heels until 5 p.m. I still feel a glow! Should have reached the tiptop of positivity by this hour. I certainly hope that by 9:30 I won’t be inclined to pitch a shoe through the TV screen…

  • @REHawk I hope not either! I was PO’d. If we play like that, anyone can beat us…

  • Heard Coach saying on the pre game that the Jayhawks did not get home until 3:45a.m. Sunday morning. Just doesn’t seem fair.

  • @wrwlumpy it’s not fair!
