He was in the bottom right until a few hours ago. Hiding some buttons on my screen. Shrinking the window helped when I need to hit "Quick reply". It's all good!

@drgnslayr I have a weird obsession with Wilt. His basketball stats are not only beyond compare, they're practically inconceivable. He was a freak. Not just basketball, either. He was a freak athlete and excelled at whatever he tried. If he said that they (NBA players) were over-training he was probably right. After all, he still holds 72 NBA records 52 years after he retired.

I remember your original avatar on this site. I still think of you as a large black man with groovy sideburns.

Looks fun with the players, but the lower right image made it hard to deal with on desktop for sure. Not a big online design guy, but does saving/creating the image differently make it easier to see through the white bounding box?

I'm going to extend my thread on Wilt and his accusation that bball players overtrain with weights. Here is a photo of DP. I know photos can be misinterpreted... but look at the quads! I know big quads can come in handy in ball. I used to play one-on-one with KU legend Darnell Valentine. We called him "thunder thighs" back then. Part of what gave Darnell the ability to squash me like an insect was his strong thighs. He could push me around just with his legs... easy peasy! But getting back to DP... I think he has had more than one health issue with his legs. We know he has tightness in his hamstrings... maybe he has tightness in his quads, too. Just look at those beefy quads!dp.jpg

Peterson 100% has chronic exertional pain (compartment) syndrome. During exercise, pressure in muscle compartments increase, leading to the feeling of cramping and weakness. It’s consistent with exercise. Commonly seen in athletes who over train, like endurance athletes. Your muscle increase in size from training and the fascial outer layer doesn’t keep pace. They test it by measuring the pressure of your muscle compartment pre exercise and then post exercise. Everything matches Peterson, typically after a certain amount of exercise he has “cramps”. The treatment is conservative, PT (stretch, soft tissue work, orthotics, rest etc). Surgical is a fasciomety. I know they have to protect a players medical, but a healthy 19-20 year old just doesn’t just randomly cramp for months. Something obviously is going on more serious for Peterson. It was never a hammy and he never moves like he is having true cramps. Bet money he has this condition.

I don’t know if you’re a doctor or just play one on TV, but that sounds like a ominous diagnosis!

I like your diagnosis and it makes sense.

I also wonder if he might be battling psychological issues with this. Maybe a little ptsd from an early injury or issue. I don't think it has to be much to cause an over sensitive reaction because on top of it all is this huge payday awaiting him.

I don't think anyone will see the real DP until he plays in the NBA. At that point, he's reached his pinnacle and will be making big cake. I know the big money comes in his second contract, but he's got to get there and he'll have to show what he can do before landing that monster contract.

I don't take any of this personal because I'm a diehard Jayhawk. I'm still grateful we have him.

Going counter to this a little bit. The stats are out and our overall net impact of DP and his PT is a net negative. I think we could all guess this. We do have to realize he hasn't had enough reps to truly fit in as a teammate and guys have to step up and focus on the connection, including DP.

I smell a run! (better buy more toilet paper)

@drgnslayr There's clearly something lacking in connection on defense when he's out there despite being a fine individual defender. I also wonder about the impact of our style of offense while he is playing on the overall stress it puts on defenses. Are we easier to guard physically when he is out there because there is so much less ball and player movement? Does the moving the ball from side to side and whipping it around and in and out actually tax the opposing team more than some two man game over and over until DP makes an incredible play? Not all DPs fault to be clear.

                                  Privilege isn't nonsense.

Chemistry. With all these new players, they need time to meld. Tough to do with him in and out of the lineup. fingers crossed for some consistency.
