I mentioned this is the other thread, but I am intrigued to see Bill with a full blown bag of rocks.
Hmmm. Bill has to be here to do that.
Odds are high, since he is still currently here after the last offseason. Unless the NCAA literally bans him which would be fought.
i’ll ask this again now the Lack of coaching Control or what ever the F it is - - this CAN lead to a year suspension - - if that indeed happens - - - Does Bill walk Away?
-
A couple good links to read -
http://www.ncaa.org/enforcement/enforcement-process-charging
Second link is one from a while back that referenced KU’s odd approach when a lot of this surfaced, again could play into why we’re getting hammered.
-
Caleb Love got 6 CB picks to UNC today. No surprise
-
Love cancelled his trip to KU and has cut his list to Mizzou and UNC . No surprise here.
-
Despite everything going on Gethro Muscadin took his visit to KU over the weekend.

Probably a player we can still get.

don’t get the VIP but hope he had some positive things to say - - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
He did. Here a few snips. Despite the positive things I do not expect he signs here
He met the players and learned about their personalities, and he even got a little starstruck when hanging around KU basketball’s coach. “I was sitting with him and I was like, ‘Man, I’m really sitting with Bill Self, a Hall of Fame coach,’” “That’s something huge for me.”
They really know my game. They really know my strengths. That’s something that means a lot to me that they’ve been watching me.” Is that all?
“They have pretty much everything that I’ve been looking for in a college,” Muscadin said of KU. “That’s pretty incredible. That’s something that means a lot for me
-
We could do a lot worse. Not going to complain since we know we’ll need bodies for whatever exodus happens after the season. I’m not confident despite his positive remarks we land him but who knows. This cycle has lost my interest
-
@BeddieKU23 understandable. At the end of the day Bill will get some guys.
-
Agreed, they will come. Was more or less thinking nothing until the spring though and with Gethro 3 visits in already I’d imagine he’s signing this fall. A lot of uncertainty for kids to sign into at the moment.

Memphis is the school to watch with Gethro. In other news, UK is out for Isaiah Todd. No spots left there. I think he ends up overseas since his options here are pretty dry for what he’s… ummm… looking for in a school.

My hope would be that Memphis has better options.
Helluva place to be in recruiting right now but that’s how it is.

Dam , Dam , Dam - - man I hate to see a kid that has talent like that go over sea’s - - you would think he surely could find a spot - -once apon a time we were right there with him - -Screw the NCAA - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Riley Gates, a KSU insider, put his CB for Gethro to KU today.
Edit: What about Karim Mane?

Looks like KU has a great shot here.
Edit: What about Karim Mane?
Not much out there about him right now. Might be a straight to pro candidate.
-
Sounds like Javonte Brown will be a Texas A&M aggie eventually.

Mane is not expected to go to College

Gethro at this point would be a very nice addition - - I mean right now that’s probably about as good as it get’s - -he a pretty decent player - -a developmental player- - 3-4 year player right? I’m sure Coach would love to have him
Here is a question - -IF - - and again I’m saying IF - - IF /Coach /Self does get suspended next year and feeling pretty sure that Coach Townsend ends up getting axed - - -then who Coach’s the team next year?

Hear me out on this: Larry Brown. Tanned, rested, ready. Can obviously coach, knows the league, loves Kansas. Boom.
-
That would be a thumb to the nose at the NCAA.

lol- - oh ya that would look - sweet - - nice kick to the nads to the NCAA - see -what got another squeaky clean Coach for a year - - take that lmao

I said it before and I will say it again. We need to start recruiting local talent now! There are enough high caliber in state and local kids that are damn good and that are 3 and 4 year players that Bill can work with and develop, because we are not going to get the 5 star or even the 4 star players now

Honestly, anyone that wants to come at this point as long as they have some ability.
-
In state talent that KU should go hard after now… Ty Berry… 2020… Sunrise Christian Tamar Bates…2021… Piper high school Grady Dick…2022… Wichita Collegiate Mark Williams…2022… Bishop Miege All of these kids are high major D1 ballplayers, that are getting highly recruited, I will hate to see them get out of the state.

I think we can and should get Grady Dick unless it all goes FUBAR.
This year feels like a lost cause, I don’t think we could get Ty Berry now.
Assuming you meant Mark Mitchell I don’t think we can get him. Kentucky, UNC or straight to the pros IMO.
Name to keep an eye on: https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2020/latrell-jossell-213166
-
Yeah Mark Mitchell… Sorry
-
Yeah it’s a shame that we might lose Ty Berry to the Big 10 ( Northwestern, Minnesota, Michigan ) this kid can really play , he will be playing in the league someday, mark my words…
-

No big deal, I figured it out.
If KU does miss on him it won’t be due to a lack of trying. He is a stud and the staff knows it.

I don’t feel as strongly as you but it wouldn’t surprise me if he is better than whoever we end up with. Recruiting is about to enter the stone age.
-
We still have Tre White right 2022? We have a decent foundation to last a few years as long as there’s no transfers
-

Correct. Howard checked in on him just recently. He is still committed and still visiting for late night.
For next year’s team, player retention is key. We could be looking at a large exodus though.
-
If there is a postseason ban could KU redshirt it’s best players (non-early nba entrants) that year? Just call it a lost cause/development year like the Houston QB this year?
-
Howard into see this kid today (actually his mom) https://247sports.com/Player/Tyon-Grant-Foster-46093992/

If you listen carefully you can hear the pick axes.

And THIS is what we very well could see the likes of for this year AND next more likely then not
-
He looks better than I thought
-
Oh wow sign him up now. He is well worth a scholarship
-
I think if the pipeline dries up its going to hurt a lot more in terms of bigs than wings. This kid looks good.
-
Well from my expertise eyes lol, 1st impressions , could we possibly be able to bag a sleeper?
Watching looks like he is pretty complete player. Ya it’s a high-lite reel but still can’t hide the talent.
Ew - - he got range - -he does have range , pretty smooth - - - - good handles - - - - - Likes to go to the rim also - - - -finishes when it presents it’self - - -really nice size for the position - - - -and looks fairly quick , not exceptional but good enough.
Like has been said we could for sure offer don’t think it would be a waste - and again the position that it looks like we are in now and for awhile - - ya we need to offer.
Even with this Juco though even kids like this want that opportunity to play in the National title game - -or at least the possibility So with him only having two years to do so - - would he come with the possibility of a ban next season? - - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Bill Self is a great evaluator of talent and is going back to WORK because he has to dig. Like I said before I’m oddly excited by this.
-
@BShark you are odd!
-
Not a bad thing to have to really dig down and evaluate talent. This latest kid is a good example and he comes from a high level juco program
-

This kid and Muscadin would be A+ additions given the circumstances.
-
@rockchalkwyo looks like a young paul pierce to me.
-
http://njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2018-19/div1/players/tyongrantfosterlyx5
Here are his stats. Doesn’t look like his ppg is that high until you scroll down and see he averaged a little over 7 mpg with a points per 40 minutes is 43. As long as I’m reading that correctly
-
Self: “To be honest with you, I’ve been concerned about recruiting challenges happening for the last 27 years I’ve been a head coach. Every place has its own challenges. Now this gives us some unique challenges that also we can somehow look at them as opportunities, too. Sure, that’s always going to be an issue. But in the past, when you’ve gone against Kentucky and Carolina and Duke and Michigan State or UCLA or whoever to get the players you’re recruiting, they’re all challenges. Certainly we’ve got our hands full with this, but we’ll end up, I think, having a very good recruiting class.”
-
@rockchalkwyo I wonder if he was injured? 5 starts at the juco level and worth a scholarship offer? Yikes
