2020 Recruiting

  • @BShark I like him. i hope we get him.

  • Highlights are unimpressive. Below the rim player, short, not long, no stroke. McBride without a shot or a short Garrett without the D? I’m hopeful the video was just poorly done.

  • @dylans I’m not sure when those highlights are from, but this summer he’s been extremely good apparently.

  • Video posted here was from last March.

To me, he looks like he has decent arm length for his size. He finishes well in the lane with both hands. He absolutely can jump. In one of the newer videos he dunks from almost being flat footed.

I’d also rather get another PG in here now instead of hoping we land a big name next season and end up settling for someone almost exactly like him to be the backup next year. Get someone in now that can learn the system for a full season. Who’s to say he won’t push McBride out of the backup role? AND literally the worst case scenario is that he gets here, realizes he doesn’t belong, and transfers out. This is a no lose situation from my point of view.

  • Sounds like 2019 is the plan, and he’ll likely redshirt unless he pulls an Ochai and goes nuts.

You really hit on the knoggin here. No risk. Get the guy in if he wants and see what he’s made of. In today’s landscape if he doesn’t fit he’ll move on

  • Oh this is a fun one.

Walker denies interest in playing overseas this year but we all know how denials go. Probably a lot of truth to him not having the grades to stay home and enroll somewhere.

The word you always see on him is “tough”, “leader” and “winner”. Makes others better etc…

So done with him already. W/e

I can live with those qualities. I’m not jumping up and down seeing that video but if he’s improved a bunch from that, I’d rather use the scholarship then hold it. We’re one Dotson injury from the sky is falling.

Maybe there isn’t truth to him actually going but I’m not buying it. Good luck to the kid. There was a brief thrill he might land here…

Yep. Plus it seems he is really close with CB. Would be the third MoKan kid recently after none for a long time.

I think he is firmly a RS guy but better to get him on campus and in the KU/Self program for a year than stash him at Sunrise. Like even if Dot gets injured (PLZ NO) I don’t think he would play next year.

Basically brothers with the Brauns. There’s a rumor he’d be a partial qualifier, but I rarely buy into rumors about grades.

  • BShark said:

He’s a guy you redshirt that is a pain in the ass for other teams as a JR/SR. Also friends with Braun I believe.

How on earth do you know that? I’m not at all second guessing you it’s just the amount of knowledge some of you have is very impressive.

  • @rockchalkwyo Just word of mouth. Also noticed back when and after Braun committed to us that he and Harris engaged with each other a lot on twitter. I then looked into Harris at the time and saw he was committed to Missouri State so I didn’t think he would enter the equation for KU.

It was also in a Newell piece today. Harris lived with the Braun’s during AAU season for a couple years.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Didn’t see this, thanks.

  • “Playing this summer with MOKAN Elite (an AAU program based in Kansas City) and is a tough as nails floor general and a winner,” Rivals.com’s Eric Bossi wrote of Harris on Tuesday.

  • Well guess they are seeing something seeing as how we offered. - -Sounds like from people in the know that he might transfer back to 2019?

If we wanted to and If he was interested enough with us - - - would we even have a scholi for him? - - let’s see don’t we still have ONE open? - - - I don’t think he will be a guy that commits to soon - - he might sit back and just see how many and who ends up offering

  • saw a post from a fan saying that this kid is going to commit after Peach jam - somewhere anyways. - - That is this weekend I heard , can anyone one else verify that this is true? - -just curious. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 sounds like it’ll be next week and to Kansas. Probably for 2019

  • Harris looks great in this video. Shifty, solid handles, finishes with left or right, creatively. Can dunk. Put on some muscle since other video.

  • @approxinfinity I’m always down with true point guards. I don’t think you can have too many of them.

  • @approxinfinity much better. He didn’t look power 5 caliber in the first video.

  • FarmerJayhawk said:

Well if that turns out to be the case , maybe if he is rising like articles are saying then - - maybe we stole a solid player , cause they talking like he is going to be getting more likely then not a lot of higher major offers. - So if he commits that soon then would be good. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Another player that is going to add serious depth.

  • @jayballer73 I liked him from the first second because his tapes show some real good assists, great court vision, and some great drives. He has outstanding dribbling skills… still not sure his outside shot is there quite yet. The guy he reminds me of is a young Tyshawn. Without the turnovers.

  • Harris almost got a triple double this morning. Easily one of MoKan’s top players along with Dante. Self was also going to watch Karim Mane but Mane couldn’t make the first game. Should catch him tonight.

  • Not sure if it’s breaking news, but KU is in a good spot with Isaiah Todd. Self did an in-home over the summer and Todd will visit KU in the fall. Look out below!!

    Worth it.

Well that would be nice for sure. I had thought he was a pretty heavy lean towards North Carolina - - wonder by the time it rolls around when he is to visit - wonder IF we get hit with any post ban and such wonder how badly that will effect us with him? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I’d be really surprised if Todd ended up at UNC. I think they go with Brooks and Bacot at the 4 and 5 in 20-21.

Oh if we get hit with a postseason ban all bets are off. The 2019 class would look like that of 2013.

So your thinking we won’t get hit with a post season ban? – - just curious. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 I doubt it, but the NCAA could decide otherwise. I know the powers that be at KU don’t expect significant sanctions.

  • Evan Daniels tweeted this out about 6 hours ago about Harris:

Been extremely impressed with 2020 prospect Dajuan Harris at Peach Jam. - - - Tough , competitor , at lead guard spot. - -Terrific passer/vision & a scrappy defender.

Someone asked if he thought he would re-classify BACK to 19 or stay in 2020 and watch his offers blow up?

Now if he is rising like I’m now hearing - and people just realizing he has gooten his release - I’m thinking and think he will stay in 2020 and watch the big time offers flow in - -I’m sure from what I’m hearing he would be getting ample offers if he stayed in 2020. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @FarmerJayhawk any word on who the staff is watching this week? I’ve haven’t seen Self and the staffs name mentioned much on Twitter.

Have you heard anything on KU and Nix? Or have they prioritized Thompson more now?

Seems like those are the only 2 top 20 players they have a legit shot at…

  • Woodrow said:

    Isaiah Todd.

Caleb Love could end up top 20 and KU has a shot there.

Harris, Adam Miller, Isaiah Todd, and RJ Davis off the top of my head.

Nix is a slow burn. I think KU is in a good spot but he’ll be a spring guy. Thompson will likely decide in the fall.

  • I’ll add Self was watching Thompson for both his games yesterday.

  • Also, re: Harris. The plan is to come in 2019, but he needs a few more classes to make it happen. Could be a thing where he shows up first day of school or doesn’t come until mid-year.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Good to hear. Seems like the staff is taking Thompson very seriously and not banking on the connection.

Good info on Harris. Is the plan still to announce next week?

  • @BShark that’s last I knew but we’ll see.

  • Self and staff all watching Caleb Love today.

  • @Woodrow Niiiice. Love that kid.

Update on Nix. Should officially visit KU in the fall. Date tbd.

I’ll be really interested to see how the staff plans visits to Late Night this year. We have so many overlapping guys since we really only have needs at PG and the 4-5. Do you have two guys like Nix and Thompson visit on the same weekend? Or do you split them apart and tell each they’ll be a starting guard? And that doesn’t even factor in Davis and Love. Suffice to say I really liked the guys we’re prioritizing and it could be a really fun class.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Avoid the death penalty and land 2 out of the 4 you mentioned and KU will be really good again.

  • Looking at Peach Jam box scores 4 of the 6 Mokan games are up

Dajuan Harris has had these stat lines PTS AST REB STL

    4/7/2/2 2-4 shooting

    13/10/9/3 5-10 shooting

    4/6/2/1 on 1-2 shooting

    5/8/4/3 on 2-5 shooting

Definitely seems like a guy that is pass first and really picks his spots to actually shoot. 31 AST vs 10 turnovers.

Mokan won this morning advancing to the semi-finals, that box score isn’t up on their site yet.
