New 2019 Recruiting

  • Interesting… Hampton and Precious (they seem to be a package deal) joining Enaruna, Braun and McBride along with Tucker - who I think we’ll also get - is a monster class that - if it happens - could, perhaps, be the best that Coach Self has ever had.

  • Do we have enough🏀🏀 to keep everyone happy, especially if Silvio comes back?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Silvio will not be back.

  • @Marco you know?

  • @FarmerJayhawk I’m worried based on what I’ve seen. He’s a big time brick mason and he’s got a handler and they are going to be focused on his brand and want him to be taking shots.

@Marco Gut feeling? I think if the staff is really getting back in there with Precious then they certainly think the news is going to be bad for Silvio. This would be an absolute 180 from recent vibes.

From Corey, “It’s a few separate sources. Nothing legitimate. Going out on the limb some but this is not a done deal for Memphis. Going back and fourth on each. UNC, too. Believe that Kansas will get him in the end but not definite.”

Saw off 247 where Memphis got another CB pick for Precious today - -it’s ok - - Think we are going to be all right. - -Man I just wish we could get a finalization on Silvio - -the kid has suffered enough - let the kid play or end it so he can be on his way - this dam thing just drags on because of this fricken NCAA

Yeah I don’t see us really going after Precious unless Silvio’s situation goes sideways. And Holyfield is still out there so it may all be moot anyhow.

Gut feeling. I think that he won’t be back for the reason that you stated above. Hampton and Precious seem - I may be wrong (it wouldn’t be the first, Lol) - to be a package deal. The NCAA really double-dribbled in the handling of De Sousa. “We gave the 2-year ban and, by god, we have to stick to it. We might appear wrong and weak otherwise,” is what they could be saying to themselves.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I don’t know for sure that he’ll be gone, but just looking at what more and more seems to be a Hampton/Precious package deal coming to Lawrence it sure has that vibe.

Except it’s not “the NCAA” that’s deciding Silvio’s fate. It’s an independent appeals committee made up of a bunch of different people not affiliated with the NCAA.

I stand corrected, sir. Appreciate the info. Sure the hell wish that they would hurry up so we don’t whiff on recruits while waiting. The NCAA was beyond wrong in giving a 2-year ban. We shall see, though. Who would you want (De Sousa aside), Holyfield or Precious?

No worries my man! I think that’s the biggest reason there’s such optimism on KU’s side. They feel the facts of the case and the punishment are way out of whack and most reasonable folks will see it their way.

I definitely have a biased opinion, but I’ll take Precious. I really like Holyfield, and if he had played last year I’d probably take him. But a right shoulder injury makes me nervous, especially when shooting is one of his calling cards. Precious isn’t perfect either. He’s not a great shooter and his feel for the game isn’t there yet, but he’s an elite athlete with the tools Self and co can mold into a really good player if Precious will take coaching. And I think he will. But there’s not a massive gap there.

  • I’d rather have De Sousa than I would Holyfield or Achiuwa. But if we don’t get Silvio back for next season, I’d rather have one year of the senior who can shoot 3-pointers and play defense.

    Amen.

  • I reaaaaally want Silvio, but I don’t trust the situation.

  • If KU lands Hampton and Achiuwa, KU’s class goes from #31 to #4 on 247. With Juzang going to Kentucky they would have the #1 class.

  • Precious got another prediction for KU on rivals today.

  • From their Memphis writer. Interesting.

I’ll add I’m still skeptical of any Precious to Kansas talk as long as Silvio is still in limbo. I think they’re still recruiting him, but can’t see them doing what it takes to land him unless Silvio is gone.

  • Well Slater just put in his CB - saying that Boogie going to Memphis - -that has to help us I would think with RJ - -usually Slater picks are pretty solid. - -Slater - - Danlel’s - - Meyer - and to a lesser degree - -Evans. – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • You just have to think that a lot better days are in our future in this recruiting. - - Cory Evans off Rivals sure seems to think so. - Matt Tait followed up on it a bit more or less repeating what Cory had to say.

Cory said: - -that KU could win and would win the Spring Signing if things work out. - - He said that it seems safe between the two that Either TJ Holyfield or Rayjon Tucker would land in Lawrence. - -He also said that even Memphis remains the Team to beat for Precious , don’t be surprised if he ends up playing for Coach Self. - something here to think about - -Cory changed his CB for Memphis to KU - but even better then that Evan Daniels Changed his CB pick from Memphis to - - -Undecided - - then some others also picking KU now for Precious

Then Cory said the X factor remains RJ Hampton - - - -saying that he feels that RJ will land in Lawrence – saying IF that happens - -KU WILL win the Spring recruiting season. - -we shall see if these come about. -I think just soon things gonna start poppin - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

    One can only hope…

  • Memphis lands 4* SG Lester Quinones.

  • Well just me , but with Memphis getting the commit from Quinones as a 2 guard - - a shooting Guard and looking like Boogie gonna land there - think that reduces their chances for RJ - -I think quite possibly they realized they losing ground with RJ and shifted directions taking these guys - -hope that’s the case – sounds like that’s the case. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well – what does anyone make out of this if anything? - -Tweet 4 hours ago from Rayjon Tucker. - - tweeted More blessings and opportunity - -then it has a picture of a Boston Celtics basketball court and the Celtics Mascot - I hope it’s not what I think - he might be deciding

  • @jayballer73 nah, just opportunities to show himself w/each invite

  • Juzang to Kentucky as expected.

I’d be stunned if he stayed in the draft. He’s like a fringy top 100 guy right now because he’s a borderline SF in the NBA. More of a 4.

Maybe it’s about Paul Pierce. Who knows it could be a hint. It could also mean I’m completely over thinking it also

  • Precious will not wait on Silvio. This one seems over. My 2 cents minus a cent.

  • FarmerJayhawk said:

    It has been over

  • @JAYHAWKFAN214 he’s coming here?

  • Memphis

  • I would have a hard time with a dude on our roster named Precious. If any kid needed a nickname, or a new name, he’s the one. Quite clear that a man didn’t participate in the naming decision.

  • That’s his parents thing. It’s common to have unusual names (for us) in Nigeria. His brother’s name is God’s Gift.

  • Just like the guy named Goodnews that left kstate.

  • And there was a guy named Goodluck fairly recently. I don’t remember where he played.

  • I expect KU to lean a bit on Kyree Walker now.

  • @FarmerJayhawk He’s still 2020, right?

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich as of now, yes.

  • Is he likely to reclassify?

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich i think so. He’s plenty old enough.

  • I see. Thanks.

  • I don’t see how they fill the 13 allotted scholarships now after missing on both Tucker and Holyfield. Might have a hard time getting to even 12.

  • Agreed. Dotson is probably back, which gives us 9. Yeah I think 11 at most.

  • Woodrow said:

Well, KU didn’t really go after Holyfield much. Tucker on the other hand is a clear miss.

@FarmerJayhawk I like Kyree Walker a lot. That would save the class to be sure.

Man I hope so – Dam I hope so - - now Farmer - don’t go and get my heart racing lol. - -1st we got to get him to re-classify , he still pondering on it - we have been pretty good with him - - BUT these are kids again we are talking about you know? - - this is the kid that they say is a positionless player - -love him cause he has edge to him - -a little cockiness to him - -I like that- - if you can ball to back it up - -then get some bad boy - -you get yours - -Serious hops - - plazy some pt - - got the J - seen my 1ast video of him the other day - - bout all I can say is - - WOW - brings a lot to the table - -now see what you did – got me all worked up again lol - - but your Right - -Kyree - -come on buddy - -come play with " the boys " - bring it with you bad boy - - your right hope we lean on him hard. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Right now he is - -but seriously talking about re-classifying - - lots of smoke. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Thinking though that he had said he was just focusing on the AAU circuit right now and wouldn’t really sit down and think about it to much until after circuit was over - -isn’t that what he said, swore I read that some where on him - -NOW we really need to get after him hard – We’vew been on him for some time…

Before this Tucker BS - I was hoping Tucker land here - -we could try and keep Kyree in 2020 and then we could just slide him into the point in 2020 if and when RJ leaves - -but things have changed

    that makes 2 of us

  • Well , Well - -more interesting news - - - -things that make you go Whaaaaaaaaa? - Just saw where Andrew Slater put in his CB pick for Boogie Ellis - he picked him to commit to Oregon > - - - whaaaa? - - slater usually pretty solid, man I hope things don’t start shifting that way - all that would do would be to ad fire for the RJ to Memphis - -be just our ficken luck

I’m tellin ya - -for a team that has some many Scholi’s they can offer - a lot of playing time available - -we are sure sucking buttermilk right now – I’m not feeling it – what the hell? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
