This wouldn’t be the first season that felt like Self was throwing things at the wall hoping something would stick.
At least to me, the 15/16 season felt like that for sure.

Well. After tonight we’ll be ranked about 150th in 3-point percentage in D1. When our legs are rested we should probably work on that.

Not having three key players from last years final four team is why we have what we have. The roster is top five good but really hard to win big games without those guys.

Probably amazing the season is as successful as it was considering that. And this team would still be really damn good with Doke. :’(

Happy with the 2nd half effort honestly. We at least made them make luck shots. Weiler babbs and shayoks junk really hurt. Fouls and not called fouls as well

They’re fortunate they didn’t get worse. They could easily be a 6-7 seed, but as I said during a bracketology post, our resume is too good and we were guaranteed no less than a 4-5 seed.

Well. We’re probably not good enough to go too deep in the tournament this season but I think we are capable of screwing up the tournament for other teams. Like Duke or Kentucky.

They’ll be ready and as most have said, they will likely be Sweet 16. We all know they have the ability to play E8. But that will definitely be a long shot. I’ve never seen a team with little to no fight. Then when they fight, it’s ugly. It looks like they don’t even know how to fight.

Garrett isn’t the best outside shooter. But it isn’t though we got a stable full of them sitting there waiting to come in.

Garrett’s 0-2 from 3 had very little impact, Garrett’s 2-10 (all from inside 4 feet) on 2s and 1 for 4 from line was trouble. Sometimes the ball just doesn’t go in the home I suppose. No pressure next could be positive.

I honestly cannot see any of our guys going to the nba. Not one. Maybe de Sousa goes pro somewhere. He got totally jobbed.
Scandal, doke out, Vick comes back, then leaves, ncaa using Kansas as a scapegoat by over punishing de Sousa, Grimes really not what we were hoping for, garret hurt, we lose the 12 championship, and,., Moore- we have Moore playing minutes. He does not fit on our team, we (Self) should be able to do better than Moore.
just sooooo disappointed.
And after we lose in the tourney (really doesn’t matter which round for me at least, hopefully we get to second weekend) then there is the endless wait til next season.

KU’s best shot at winning a S16 game is getting Virginia the 1 seed. KU can’t outscore the other 3 projected 1 seeds.

@Bosthawk I hear you. This season has been disappointing, after such a good and promising start. In an odd way it seems like my personal life has followed a similar path. This is just one of those times where you have to be strong and keep moving forward.

Joe “the Leprechaun” Lunardi has KU in the East as a 4 seed. I would not be surprised if this win for ISU bumps them from a 5 to a 4 seed after winning the B12 tourney. They will be rewarded.
KU - Rd 1 Salt Lake City v. Northeastern
Purdue
Wisconsin
Virginia Tech
These are all 4 seeds. I don’t think the upper seeds are going to change. Many bubble teams will change. I don’t think KU could get worse than East coast, except maybe West coast. East coast is actually better.

We were not able to utilize our three most talented players. As excuses go, pretty valid.
We are so offensively challenged in certain matchups — Garrett and Mitch excel in certain matchups but not others. Agbaji going in the tank has been a killer.
@BShark So you’re saying Charlie Moore might not be that good?

@cragarhawk I mean we know Charlie isn’t good, and foul trouble kinda forced Bill’s hand but it would be a real game changer next year if McBride is a capable back-up or Garrett takes a big step forward. Just something to prevent Charlie from getting minutes. Garrett HAS to get his shot to a respectable level if he continues to get huge minutes.

And I agree about Agbaji. Him just being a respectable shooter did big things for the team. The team can’t afford him being a non-factor because that makes too many zero impact offensive players in the rotation.

@BShark Garrett needs a complete makeover. It is arguably gross negligence for him to be allowed to continue to use that horrible form and release. I can’t even fathom it. Now, I’m not advocating the George McGinnis one hand jumper, but one where he get the ball well above his head and uses his wrist — it’s the opposite of what he’s doing and that’s the best place to start.

Agbaji was a game changer. Hope he gets some of that swagger back. I don’t think Garret ever magically becomes a great 3 point shooter. He’s been playing a day or two… But ya we gotta hope he could at least improve some. What else do we have on that front.
For the largest part they gotta stop taking off so many possessions on d in my opinion. Too many times of standing and watching a guy drive to the cup. Or standing and letting a rebound come down to the opponent. You don’t have to do that very many times in a game to make a double digits outcome

Lawson was constantly out of position on D and was too lazy to slide and help out when our guards got beat off the dribble. This more than anything affected the game. His lack of athleticism just kills us. This will be our undoing in the tourney. Even more than another poor shooting night.

if we had a rim protector like Dave in there then maybe it’s not as big a deal. Unfortunately Dave rode pine. Maybe Self is keeping the high low to a min to bust it out in tourney. That’s my bet.
