@BShark missing peters
And Berry. Actually, any remotely good safety at all. Fuller is the only good secondary player. ZERO pass rush.
-
Berry coming back? Dang injury reports
-
Where’s Kelce?

Alex Smith having a limited arm really made him lock onto Kelce and other TEs.
If TE isn’t going to be a huge part of the offense anymore I would honestly consider Kelce expendable for the right trade offer.
-
I could expand on this, but Kelce and Watkins are what is allowing Hill to run all over the field the way he is. Kelce will show up in a couple of weeks.
-
The D does need to figure it out. At least the offense looks to be as advertised.
-
Prescott is meh. I think Cowboys still need to find a QB

Was really impressed with Watkins today despite the low stats.

Jokes aside the Chargers kicked the Chiefs ass today. Got lucky with special teams.
What??

I thought Mahomes did fairly decent let’s no go crazy, Hill got most of his yards after the catch. The defense was a joke for the most part, Chargers dropping numerous passes and ST won the game for KC.

Did you watch the game? Chiefs got a bit lucky today. The defense is a huge issue going forward.

Exactly.

I did not watch the game but looking at the stats they look pretty lopsided in favor of San Diego; how exactly did the Chiefs win?

Special teams.

Does not seem like a good formula for ongoing success.
-
I’m completely sold on Mahomes. Kid has a silky smooth rocket for an arm and never seemed rattled. He’ll have some ups and downs but all the tools seem to be in the shed.
We need Berry back BAD though.
-
I love Mahomes arm, but man Tryeek is fast as they come. Just crazy fast.

Ya. NFL players are fast…so to think about a guy that makes most other NFL players look SLOOOOOW. Pretty wild.

Ian Kenyon Verified account @IanKenyonNFL
Mahomes threw 10 INT in 591 attempts in his last season at Texas Tech and people tried to tell you he’d be an interception machine.
I didn’t expect him to be a turnover machine, but he could have easily thrown a couple of picks yesterday. The one that went through Watkin’s hands comes to mind.
I mean if college numbers translated to the NFL, every TT quarterback for the past 15 years would be starting in the NFL right now lol.

@JayHawkFanToo Also Andy Reid ingenuity. Great new play design at the goaline scored two of the “passing” touchdowns.
Also, a lot of River’s yards and two TDs came late, really pumping up his stats. Chiefs had it in control heading into the 4th and just let him have all of the underneath routes.
However, Rivers did get unlucky. Benjamin dropped a couple of easy TDs early. But Benjamin is also known for dropping passes.

He will have his day in the sun sometime this season. Hill is going to force a true doubleteam lol.
Offensively, I’m most concerned with our running game. The Line is just not great.

Yes, I watched the whole game. To say the Chiefs were lucky to win is silly IMO. Of course the D is going to be a issue moving forward as everyone has said for the last month, but if Berry comes back that solves a lot.
-
Doesn’t solve enough imo. Still only two good secondary players in that scenario.
-
The defense was not good. But, I don’t think the Chiefs were “lucky” as much as the Chargers proved why the Chiefs have beaten them 9 times in a row. Don’t punt to Hill. Don’t throw INTs. Don’t go for 2 in the 1st quarter.
While I think the Chiefs pass D struggled, I was encouraged by Nelson. He looked the part outside of two HUGE mental lapses. Which is something that can be cleaned up. I think if Berry comes back, the Run D turns into an above average one. All in all, the D looked better than I expected. They look like they could be a top half of the league defense by year end. Which may be good enough if the Offense puts up 35 points per game.
-
Fair enough kcmatt. The chargers played as is typical of them. The int was so bizarre, rivers wasn’t even under any pressure.
-
Offensively, the Chiefs are in good shape.
Yesterday we got to see what Hill can do. The safeties were both really keying on Kelce in the middle of the field, and they were trying to take away Hill’s deep ball, so Hill was open underneath (his long pass TD was a lot of RAC yards). As @BShark and @Kcmatt7 said, Kelce and Watkins opened things up for KC against the Chargers. Once teams are having to dedicate an extra guy to control Hill, Watkins will open up, and Kelce will get one on one coverage again.
And that doesn’t account for Hunt getting going on the ground. Teams can’t put extra guys in the box, because Hill is too fast to walk up your safeties.
The Chiefs offense is going to be very good.
Now that defense…
