KUBUCKETS IS MY FACEBOOK

  • @wissoxfan83 Amen!

  • @nuleafjhawk at the beginning of each season, you should repeat this story. I love hearing AFH stories. My son gets 2 tickets(very top row), and he is so busy he rarely gets to go. My first time to go was 4 years ago, even at the very top, I had the best time! Everyone needs to experience it! My favorite AFH story was the last time we played Missouri. I went w/youngest son. I bought some cool blue adidas socks, like the players wore. Down 19 at half, my son told me to take them off, the rest is history!! Can’t tell you how fun that was! Never wore those socks again! I can get those tickets about any time I want. I live about 3 hours from Lawrence, so I don’t go to all of them. If someone isn’t using the tickets would love to share w/any one of you!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I live about 3 hours away too - but I’d go ANYTIME !! lol

  • Favorite game I did attend - KU-Texas game in 2003 when Collison (24 points, 23 rebounds) fouled out in overtime and gets a standing ovation from the crowd including “Duke” Vitale who indicates was only the the second time he has done that in his career (the other was for David Robinson); both teams made it to the Final Four that year. My son, who is a very introverted and quiet person, was 16 at the time and attended the game with me, and he was on his feet screaming at the top of his lungs along with the crowd the entire game…never had see him that excited before or since; it was that special.

  • @ JF2 What a special memory for you. I have a similar one. My kids first trip to AFH was during the holidays a few years back-Many KU kids were out of town & we sat right above the chute the team runs in and out of. My daughter saw Withey dominate and fell in love with him and Jayhawk bball.

  • @nuleafjhawk&@jaybate 1.0 Fast Eddie would be screwed as a lagbolt. When Woodrow became ill last Feb I deleted his facebook page & that’s the only one I’d ever had. My boy desparately set it up when Woody ran off in 2011, presumably after a coyote in season, to help get him returned. He drove his H3 all night, about 10 hrs from Southbend, to come home & help us search. He also helped me with his grave in July.

Actually the networking with rural neighbors, local vets, lassie alerts, & endlessly searching & asking door to door + posting hundreds of waterproof printed color posters or any combination of the variables, did the trick. After 6 days on his own in the middle of February, we miraculously were able to rescue him. A neighbor 1/2 mi down the road came flying in the driveway at 12:30 am as he had wandered to her back door crying to come in. It took another 1/2 hour & four, four wheel drive trucks to track him down, but what a sweet moment. And she would not let her teenage children accept our sizeable reward either. We did send them Honeybaked turkey & hams & Tippins pies for Easter a month or so later. Needless to say, they are some of my most favorite people on God’s green earth. Woody had lost 15 lbs, was badly scraped up, & absolutely terrified. He was able to make a complete recovery & since Boxers cannot regulate their body temp, was a revelation he survived hypothermia for a week. It snowed like hell the very next day. Vet said he likely would’ve just holed up & froze to death. So with all that schpiel, this really is the only networking site that I participate on. Used to post occasionally on other sports blogs, but they’re rampant with “decendants from cactus trees”.

…So all you rats should know how I view them without having to just say it outright. LOL.

  • @globaljaybird Great story! My only comment is, despite what they did, I’m willing to bet that they have better neighbors than you do…

  • @nuleafjhawk I remember reading that story before. Still a great story. I’ll get there someday. I’ll probably get there a couple hours before to go through the all the museum stuff before a game. (if they let you?) I can’t wait!

  • @JayHawkFanToo Yeah, I can’t wait for the opportunity to go check it out. Like a kid in a candy store!

  • @JayHawkFanToo Awesome game!! I watched it on TV of course, but last month I watched it again on Youtube.

  • @JayhawkRock78 Great memory!

In 2012, when we lost to Michigan, my then 6 year old started crying because he was never going to watch Withey, Releford, and Young again. The next day my boys created characters on their wii sports game that looked like those players and named them Stankface, Rele, and Fro. Now those guys play forever on my kids wii! 🙂

  • @jayhawkbychoice he wasn’t the only one crying! How did you explain the punch by EJ?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 HAHA, I don’t think he noticed it. My oldest two boys would run down stairs during commercials and play on the nerf goal. I’m not sure they watched a first half all season long. But by halftime they were tired and ready to sit down and watch. 😉

  • I forgot about UTube. I was in Dallas for the game and the first thing I did when I got home from the game was look on my DVR to see what preceeded it. Not defending EJ for the smack but if you watch closely a minute or two before you will see EJ’s defender blindside him by shoving into a very hard pick to McGary that gave him whiplash and would have sent many a player crashing to the floor out of control and hurt. I don’t hate many athletes but I hate dirty plays and cheats and McGary and his team mate cooked that play up. I will always hate Mitch for that unless he has some Mother Teresa moment going forward.

  • @JayhawkRock78 Youtube is great for that. My boys are too young to remember the 08 champ game so I pulled it up a couple weeks ago for them. They have always heard me talk about those players, so it was pretty cool for them to see it.

  • @nuleafjhawk Thanks leaf, but I’m not sure of that. People in general kinda look out for each other a little more when you live outside the city limits.

Mon morning of this week I got a text at 6:30 am from my boy warning me of a manhunt in South Jo Co for a dude that shot at sheriffs officer about midnight. TV said stay inside don’t leave if unnecessary, but if you let the bad guys change your quality & way of life, guess what? They win. EFF that-I did walk the wife out to the car that morning with heat, but that’s the krap we moved out here to get away from.

Then at 1:00pm my phone rings & it’s the wife saying the oldest boy’s place has been robbed. He’s out of town on a nuke refurb so I’m taking care of all the details with that now. They got jewelry, guns, knives, cash & his Gibson SG 11. Check this? They took a cheap ass 22 cal pistol & left a Remington 870 Express 12 ga. pump, duck gun right on the bed in the case. Also left his PSE bow & golf clubs. Took an inexpensive Vizio big screen & left a Yamaha 300w, 7.1 channel amp right beside it. He has his dive gear & Remington 30.06 with him as when he’s finished in GA the next stop is the gulf side of FLA & is going to hunt hogs while there. Bottom line is-No one’s immune anymore & no one is out of range from idiots cause no matter how far you go they’re everywhere. Has only been a few weeks since my friend was murdered with his Mother in her driveway. We moved out of Olathe 10 years ago & has only been 2 or 3 instances when we have been on high alert, but you have to be alert & vigilant. I know we sure miss our watchdogs & are at a significant disadvantage without them.

  • @globaljaybird maybe it’s time to get another dog!!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Don’t know about the other half, but I’m starting to think about it now.

  • I have a wonderful German Shepherd that alerts us anytime someone is around. She is ready for a piece of them when they come up to our home. If we open the door with a friendly tone she is relaxed. She even knows our car engines so well she perks up when they are 1/2 block away and waits at the door very happy. But if we aren’t at ease like yelling out during a game on TV she comes running to double check on us, quiet. But ears up. I have never had so much confidence in a dog to protect my wife and kids,

  • And she is a loving friendly dog everyone around loves. But I have 100% confidence if there is ever a threat she will be 100% after the bad guy.

  • @JayhawkRock78 not breaking into your place!!🐶

  • Thanks, I want to clone her but my kids will be off to college soon and the wife doesn’t like that she sheds. Maybe I can start with my relatives and go fri. There.

  • @JayhawkRock78 My youngest has a Belgian Malinois & a Pit. He would let me keep one out here if I would ask, but they’re just far too undisciplined to be house dogs. They destroy way too much property. Belgians are hard to distinguish from Shepherds, but are on average 30lbs lighter & have a slightly darker head with ears that look almost too large for the head. Was a Belgian with SEAL team six on the op that nailed Bin Laden. HOOYAH !!

  • Love police/service dogs and am thinking once my kids are off to college maybe I raise them in pup times till they are ready to move to a fantastic cooperation with our service people. To think God was on top of things so much as to offer partnerships with dogs going back so far till today.

  • @JayhawkRock78 We raised AKC Boxers for almost 14 years. Is a lot of work when you have litters, but man what fun !! I’ll have to get out the archives & post some pics of the little darlings. This is the first Autumn since 2001 I don’t have a Boxer for my road dog.

  • I doubt I am smart enough to raise more than one at a time but I’ve heard there is a need to get these dogs from A to B early on.

  • @globaljaybird I’m so sorry to hear about your son’s bad news. (and of course, your friend and his mother) Just about daily you hear of things happening and it makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with people. Have we always been like this and just didn’t know it (before the media / internet / cell phones, etc ), or is our whole world just falling apart?

I know there are still many good, decent people out there but it just makes me sick. Like you though, I refuse to let the bad guys win. I’m not changing one damn thing about the way I live, at least not out of fear.

There’s been a lot of talk about the Ten Commandments in the media over the past few years. (Not the movie! lol) People even argue over that, but if they would just pay attention to the first two, the rest of them would happen automatically.

  • @nuleafjhawk I think things have always been rough but is so much more common to be “informed” so quickly with technology. Have to get out the door to work now, but will IM you later. So we can “win the war on acronyms !!”

  • @globaljaybird WWA !

  • The link below provides a strong statement and expresses my feelings about the “other guys” blogs and drinking the party line “koolaid.” To be more specific Keegan’s and Tait’s following the party line … .

    http://www.rockchalktalk.com/2014/8/20/6048115/tom-keegan-slams-critical-kansas-fans

italicised text “I realized a while ago that Keegan’s columns didn’t offer me much useful information about how bad the team was. Same goes for Tait’s blogs. But now I’m not going to give Keegan anymore clicks. I’ll still visit the site but avoid anything written by Keegan.”

KUbuckets is THE PLACE to be !!
