Landry Shamet and Others

  • Multi-purposing this thread.

I wish KU had taken a more serious look at Jaren Jackson JR. He’s basically a better version of BP. It goes back to putting all the eggs in the Ayton basket since Jackson’s recruitment accelerated early.

Nojel Eastern is a kid that wanted a KU offer, so I’ll always keep an eye on his career at Purdue.

  • @jayballer73 Heh, I enjoyed it too. Both of those teams a TOUGH though. I mean damn. Mean defense, I’d love to see KU get back to that. Got the horses to next year.

    Classy coach!

  • @jayballer73 I chuckled a bit when they lost, not because I dislike the school or the program. I just hate fair weather fans, I’m a KU football fan. I’ve taken my lumps forsure but WSU fans didn’t exist about 6 years ago. I went to a game at Koch when Turg was early in his career and I bet the place didn’t have 1500 people in it. My honest opinion is that KU wants no part of Cincy or WSU this season. But I think WSU is headed for some serious rebuilding after this season especially if Shamet goes pro.

    Jayballer is a Green Bay/Yankees fan. 😂

I’m with you all around on this post except the end. People keep thinking they will trail off but WSU imo stays relevant as long as Marsha is there. Other players will step up. However if EVER there was a year, if Shamet leaves they would be losing 7 rotation players. They have 10 guys that play double digit minutes. Even next year with our depth I bet Self doesn’t do that. Self tends to play his best players the most minutes.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I know it looks like Marshall is being rude, but the lack of any reaction from the Bearcat players suggests to me that he just said “Good game” or something similar. If Marshall had said something inappropriate the players would have looked back at him, right? The lack of reaction by the players is most telling to me.

  • @stoptheflop I guess you were taught different manners than me.

  • I saw the Marshall thing live and it looked horrible. I knew he’d be upset after the last play — which was CF taking a guarded 3 when they just needed a two. But that reaction, regardless of what was said, looked completely unprofessional.

  • He had 2 to’s left too.

I rooted for WSU when Turg was there. But can’t because of Marsha. Don’t like his attitude of the court.

  • @BShark

Frankamp averaged 23.4 mpg, 2nd in the team, only Shamet played more. 10.4 ppg and 2.4 app and a perfect 32 of 32 from the FT. I would have to say pretty decent numbers considering 10 players average double digit minutes and 6 average 20 mpg or better.

  • It would be awesome to see Gregg lose to KU (bounce off Doke in the handshake line as Doke sets a screen) and have Mrs Gregg lose it on the court…

  • Marshall has taken 30 timeouts in 30 games. Espn noted it when he took an unexpected timeout around the 6 minute mark.

Wichita is a good defensive team but anyone who saw them play Cincinnati knows this is a flawed offensive team. They just have a ton of bodies to throw out there.

  • @BShark Hard - or Dumb ?

  • @JayHawkFanToo wrong on cf. he was 4th in minutes and scoring. He only started 21 games. He started last game, but 2nd half of season he had him come off of bench, maybe cause of D? He had 2 games w/ zero pts. I don’t know if it is his dad or Marsha. I feel sorry for him. He didn’t play 2 games cause of migraines and then Shamet had 1. Weird.

  • He should have went to a lower level conference imo.

  • @BShark What about Shak Morris? Geez man…I’m looking at that 280 lb behemoth, and wondering why he isn’t playing for us this year.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 He’s a punk. His wife told him to grow a set, and he’s trying to act like a tough guy.

  • @JayHawkFanToo He is such a defensive liability, they take him out on the defensive end, and then reinsert him when they go on offense at the end of games. He tries hard, but players just blow right past him like he’s standing still. A really good 3 point shooter, though. He would’ve never played substantial minutes if he had stayed at KU, so I think it was best that he went to WSU.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Slow down Sista…My numbers were correct at the time I posted them as per ESPN and they did not include the last game against Cincinnati where Morris and Kelly played 33 and 31 minutes or 10 and 8 minutes above their averages compared to Fankamp 21 which was 2 minutes under his, so Morris and Kelly season averages went up by tenths of a minute and inched up barely past Frankamp and they are now 23.6, 23.5 and 23.4 mpg or 0.2 tenths of a minutes or a whole 12 seconds difference per game between now 2nd place Morris and 4th place Frankamp…12 seconds…if Frankamp plays 7-8 minutes more In the next game than Morris or Kelly he is back in second place. Do the math, it adds up. I call this negligible, what would you call it?

In any case, my actual point was that he is playing considerably more than he would be at KU.

Sub 300 ranked player and not local. I doubt KU even sniffed around.

  • @KUSTEVE

Frankamp is basically a sound basketball player but does not have the natural athleticism, speed or size to keep up with elite players. He excels at 3 point shooting which is a skill he acquired through hard work. Can’t blame the kid for wanting to play at the highest level possible.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I just went to WSU’s website and looked up facts. What about scoring?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

What about scoring? I posted he averages 10.4 ppg which is about 12.5% of WSU’s 83 ppg average and he plays 23.4 mpg out of 200 minutes or 11.7%…sounds about right to me.

The highest level possible for HIM, I guess is what you mean? Because WSU surely isn’t the highest level possible anywhere except maybe in Wichita.

  • @nuleafjhawk

WSU has been a top 20 team all season, a big part of it top 10 and as high as #3. Seems pretty high level to me. You don’t have to be a fan to admit they are a good team.

  • @JayHawkFanToo WSU is very good. The segment of the KU fanbase that belittles them is odd to me. I don’t like MARSHAAAAA but they will field a competitive team as long as he is there.

  • Poor Marsha
