Gotta strap it up fell'as

  • @Jayballer54 he ‘bout lost the game on that 3 he took, but fortunately OU got the rebound and made a 3. Game. Be interesting to see how Self D’s him up.

Young with 2 free throws that win the game. So much for losing games for his team.

Oh don’t trip he IS going to cost them some games - - -believe that. - - 9-23 - -from the field - -8 turnovers he is human for sure, it’s ok talk him up - - it’s all good. - -Trae is good for sure - -but definetly beatable. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

You can downplay him all you want

ya your right - -and you can over glorify him all you want - he is human not GOD – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Trae is a special player, I will get heat on saying it here, he is the most talented guard in Big 12.

YA again I don’t really think your gonna stop him - -just try and slow him down and not let the others go off - - 'm sure Coach will have something in store - -I’m not trippin - -he really good but he is beatable.

If he was as good as some on here want to make him out then just sit the other 4 players let Trae throw the ball in bounds to himself - -bring the ball down the floor - shoot rebound it and defend the other team by himself - -I mean the way some talk he is Superman - -he IS NOT the first really good player we have went up against before - -Still a freshman - -that makes Freshman mistakes at times - -last I checked he hasn’t preform a miracle on 9th street - - like some here want too believe

Ya I think I’ll down play him for awhile – long season- - he is really good - - just not as good as some are trying to sit him on a pedestal - -not saying you . last time I checked it takes five to win a game just like it takes five to lose a game. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I think Graham can be 80% of him, while the rest of our team is 135% of theirs. Not worried about OK.

  • @AsadZ Young is the best Big 12 point guard I have watched since the inception of the league. If his teammates could have hit half the missed shots Young delivered at TCU, the kid would have approached 20 assists. He is a marvel. Will give us fits. But if his teammates don’t improve considerably I predict that Bill Self will figure how to win around Young’s spectacular play. At the moment, I would worry more about TCU, esp. on their home court. A balanced team with fine rebounding, esp. on the offensive end. Gonna be a matchup nightmare.

  • I’d like to see extended stats on Young. What is his make percentage from 25’ +. Sometimes people get suckered into guarding a guy out there when you really don’t need to. Dude took 14 three point shots today…14. I’d stay back on him and let him chuck away. Once you go out that far its tough to guard.

Change Big 12 to Division 1 and you’re right. Kid will be a star in the NBA.

Oh I have SOME worry - just not like some on here that think Trae will destroy us and he is the 2nd coming and the sky is falling, there is

I catch plenty of flack because I won’t suck up and say he is the greatest thing to step foot on to the Basketball court right now, Hell the sky is falling there is no hope.

We might as well concede the conference title to Trae right now. - They hear me say the negative things about Trae - -there are plenty of positive about Trae BUT - -he is far from unbeatable and acts just like any other Freshman from time to time

You look at today -he scores 39 and like 113 - - 14 assists and Oklahoma win’s by ONE - - ONE point - -against a team that some on here feel is a very over rated club - middle of the Big12 team. - -So if he has that kind of production against a middle of the pack, what will he do against the upper tier of the league - -West Virginia -KU on the road? - -we will wait and see, he may be ok - -I’m just not gonna slober all over him making the greatest thing to walk the earth - -he isn’t by any means - Trae is a very good player, but the way some make him out - - ahhhh no not me thanks – I am like you I am not that worried.

We could very easily get beat at Oklahoma - - -we could also very easily get beat at Okla State – WV - - K- State - -so that doesn’t make him any different it’s really hard to win on the road - -we shall see - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @REHawk TCU isn’t going to lose very many at home this year that’s for sure. It’s going to be realty tough. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Jayballer54 Yeah, TCU appears legit this year. When was the last time that TCU was ranked higher than KU in basketball??

I’m guessing never. Like, ever ever.

But there they are at #10 right in front of KU at #11.

  • @BigBad Very true, and if you go all the way out to where he chucks up a lot of his shots , then you leave yourself exposed for Trae to use the dribble drive and expose the lane and dish which he is so dangerous to do. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Down goes #10.

    Down goes #1.

    #5 looking like they’ll lose.

#3 with a decent chance to lose tonight.

    #4, 6, 9, and 13 with close wins.

And none of this really matters much because it’s basketball, not football.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich I want that ASU game back. Dok only shot the ball seven times in that game. smh

  • @Jayballer54

I know I’m over glorifying a freshman that just had 39 and 14 in his first road game in big-12 play that beat one of the 3 unbeaten teams in the country because of his 2 free throws. Oh and I forgot leads the nation in scoring and assists and wait there’s more was the first person in over 20 years to have consecutive 30 point scoring games and 10+ assists. But who’s counting

  • @BShark THE BEST SPORT.

@KirkIsMyHinrich It all matters – Conference titles. Getting to the dance. Seeding.

Rant – CFB has a faux-playoff. Four teams is a joke. No real champion has ever been determined. What sport does not determine its real champion by a playoff? Somehow DII, DIII, NAIA, etc, can all have a real playoff. But boy oh boy, seeing Ohio St. and USC play an exhibition in the contrived Cotton Bowl is sure some great entertainment. Rant done.

And with ALL that being said THANKS - - -with all of that being said they won by ONE FRICKEN point - - -ONE to a team by who many people from here considered a very over rated team.

Your pin point accuracy of ALL those stats says this - -That’s great if you are an individual that loves the stats on yourself super that’s all very nice to read about makes great reading material.

Ummm did you happen to see - -just curious , probably not but maybe in case you were watching the game did you happen to see ANY of his half ass 7 turnovers - – - SEVEN ? - -probably not huh? - -Did you happen to see that he jacked up 23 shots - - 9-23 - - -9-23 -not really very efficient - -if you figure that’s JUST a little south of or even close to 50% shooting - Did you happen to noticed that a lot of those shots - -didn’t try to run ANY kind of offense - it was Trae dribble the ball cross mid court take maybe 2 dribbles and jack up a 35 footer and miss?

I don’t care how blind you are – or reluctant you are to acknowledge those kind of actions are going to be the type of play that is going to like I said cost you a game or two during the year, and it cost you when it counts the most. - - You obviously haven’t paid any attention to how I have said that ya Trae is an awesome player - -very, very good player - -but I said some of his actions is going to cost them some games - -you don’t seem to pay any attention to that, kind of like my ol lady and her selective hearing.

Well that’s ok you can approach this like you are and then when it does cost OU you can be there to console Trae and say -HEY , HEY , HEY you see your stats for the night - -you filled them up - ya, ya you lost the Conference championship game - -you lost the NCAA tourney game - -you lost the Title game - - but did you see your stat line? - -WOW what a line - -you go ahead and take that and run with it ok? - The way you try and make this kid out to be is like – let me ask does his feet ever touch the floor? o does he just hover? - just curious.

Me? - -thanks I’ll stick with what we have - – TEAM, – TEAM CONCEPT thanks.- - Again like most people have heard and seen at times - - people like Trae? - -he gonna get his points - -he gonna get his assists - you shut the others down play solid against them - - I’ll take my chances thanks - -you? - -you? - -you and TRAE you can have your stats. - - read them together some night on the couch when the NCAA title game is being played - -but hey - -you got your stats, can it get any better then that? - -I’ll stick with Vick , Graham , and SVI and be just fine - -Trae is a very good player but again he puts that kind of line out and your team wins by ONE against a middle of the pack TCU team - -think I’m gonna play the wait and see how it turns out at the end of the year - -read the entire book before I declare and not the 1st paragraph -like I said with any other recruit we didn’t get. - -KU was fine before they got here - - - -KU will be fine after they leave - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • The Kansas Jayhawks are the team to beat in the Big XII. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. It is another year and I am sure the other teams, whether it is OU, WVU, Texas Tech, Baylor, KSU, or any other school in the Conference, thinks this is the year they are going to take the Conference Title away from the Kansas Jayhawks. I am not worried about the other schools. The other schools better worry about Kansas! We have another great team assembled. Devonte Graham, I would not want any other point guard in the Big XII. Lagerald Vick, I would not trade for anyone. When Svi gets to cooking from the outside, we go to another level. Udoka Azubuike? There’s only one Udoka and he resides at Allen Field House. He dominates physically in the paint like no other. Newman is a sharpshooter and can get to the basket. Garrett is a rising freshman. Lightfoot is coming along nicely. Hopefully, we will see what Billy Preston brings to the table soon. Silvio Desouza is on board along with Sam Cunliffe, lots of potential there. Not to mention the transfers that they go up against every day in practice only making our team better. I say the rest of the Big XII should worry about the Kansas Jayhawks and Hall of Fame Coach Bill Self!

  • @Jayballer54

You keep saying that Trae is eventually going to lose you a game but you can say this about very single player that enters a game and 99.9% will not give you the production Young does. You cannot say he is selfish when he has 14 assists, no way, no how, think about it…14 assists. Regardless of the 8 turnovers that you mentioned, every and I mean EVERY player in college basketball would take these numbers, no questions asked, and more importantly, EVERY coach, with no exceptions, would take him and start him in his team. He might be a freshman but he is arguably the best PG in college basketball.

Man are you blind or what dude? - -did you not see I said he is a great player - -dam people wake up. – I get it - I really do - -you all think he is the 2nd coming =GREAT knock yourself out - - -I don’t I’m perfectly fine with what we got - -others I’m surprised you don’t drown from slobbering all over yourself your so stricken with this kid - -he is A KID - -he can put up all your gawdy numbers you want - - AND - -numbers is numbers - that’s al it is get over it for GODS sake, - -of fricken course others are going to and have lost games made bad mistakes - -PLEASE point out to me where I said he is the ONLY one that will happen to. - -he is the best point guard in basketball - - - - -AND? – next. - -this impresses me how? - - I simply stated that he will COST this team some games during the season - -AND HE WILL -just like you have so sweetly pointed out that all players will and thanks for that by the way I would of never realized that until you so sweetly pointed that out appreciate that. - - Where we differ is you seem to think this kid has the abililty to never cost his team a game -never lose - get over yourself. - -Again I know you won’t even want to grasp the idea it’s ok really it is - but some of you would never ever begin to have the conception to see how he will stand up against some serious competition - -Javon Carter - -WV full court in your jock strap press pressure defense - - -Devonte and our team not to mention other teams - -how he will do in the NCAA tourney - if he is the best pg ever then let’s just mail the trophy to them and get ready for baseball - - not waste our time k? - -thanks - I think I’ll let it play out an watch him cost those losses. just for shits and grins - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Durant, Griffin, Beasley, and now Young. The big 12 has had some serious studs and KU has found a way to overcome them all in the past. I expect the same this season.

Of course KU has had some pretty serious talent themselves: Embiid, Wiggins, Jackson, but none put out the stats of those four.

  • What I loved about last year was Mason and Jackson were both dogs on defense. This years team has only 1, Garrett, and he is so raw offensively that it can hurt. I’d play him over Malik or Svi if one is struggling badly on the offensive end because its a good trade off. Probably lean towards Malik because he hasn’t shown the ability to get hot like Svi.

  • @dylans

Buddy Hield had some pretty impressive numbers and was twice Big 12 POY and once National POY. Other great players with impressive stats include Tucker from Texas, Tonny Allen, James Anderson and Marcus Smart from OSU, all 4 Conference POY.

You also left out consensus POY Frank Mason for KU.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I didn’t leave anyone out unintentionally. The ones I mentioned were all top 3 draft picks. With the exception of Young. We shall see about him.
