Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2

  • @jayballer54 -You don’t need to know the offense to be able to rebound and supply fouls to give & defend - & screen and roll really simple and De-Sousa. knows how to do that right now. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

any coach would roll in their grave reading that.

  • I wonder how Preston feels watching Sivio in practice today? If Silvio is the monster rebounder they say he is, let him play.

Roll baby roll - -that’s not me sayin that - -that’s Coach Self saying that plain and simple roll baby roll - -screen and roll - -screen and roll.

You think I’m the only one that said he would be fouls to give? - - Have you read any of the other comments with people saying the same? -mercy man please - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Don’t let BeddieKU23 hear you say that - if Silvio can rebound I said you don’t need to know offense to rebound - they said the Coach would roll in their grave - -Well wonder how funny it is when Coach Self said himself - -IF you can set a high screen and roll to the basket then fine - -and that is what Silvio could do for the time being - -some can’t seem to let that sink in. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @whipperboy73

He asked a walk on in a blowout if he could play a few minutes. Big difference in asking him to play in a big 12 game that most likely wont be a blowout don’t you think. Funny stuff as always

  • @HighEliteMajor The team that Diallo played on had considerably more depth at the post position. We have 2 post players in Mitch and Doke. They will both play over him obviously but if they both are in foul trouble it would make more sense to play De Sousa whom maybe able to help us later in the year and in all honesty watching De Sousa I’d be shocked if he isn’t getting most of Mitch’s minutes bye seasons end. He’s bigger, stronger, more athletic and most likely a better rebounder walking in the gym today. It will depend on how long he takes to buy in and get used to the speed of the college game.

  • Diallo had ZERO clue where to be on the floor on the offensive end, and it screwed up the entire team. Hence, the players voted to start Landon instead. Hopefully De Sousa can learn how to set a screen and at least run a couple in-bound plays.

UMM, how much different is there in rebounding in a game with 20 minutes left - - 5 minutes left - -1 minute left- - you know how to rebound – you know how to rebound. - how much difference is there to set a high screen and roll with twenty minutes left - or one minute left - -yes very funny stuff as always indeed lmao. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

roflmfao - -whatever you say boss whatever you say lmao – I’m not buttin heads - -your not dragging into that . - oh just one minor thing though how is a rebound of the ball any different from the tip of a game to the end - would seem to me the ball bounces off the rim - -off the board the same way - -BUT your right - don’t mean to rock the boat - - don’t ripple your waters just curious but I’M SURE YOUR RIGHT - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @whipperboy73 Heh, I’m fine. I just think it’s way too hard to extrapolate anything based on the time Sosinski got against Sisters of the Poor U. He played 4 minutes. His PER is 57 (HOWLING as @jaybate-1-0 would say), his Ortg is 207 and his net BPM is 9.4. He might have a nose for the ball, he might not, we will see if he ever plays against real competition in real minutes.

Who Sosinski? - - - lmao - because you can take it to the bank De-Sousa will. - you think DeSousa came and enrolled early and is giving up half his freshman season to sit the bench? - - lmao, come on man I know your not that thick. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @whipperboy73 Somehow I got really confused, and yes I was talking about Sosinski.

  • Gonna be a great conference season.

    Shaka has these guys ready.

    Rock Chalk!

  • @justanotherfan

Keep in mind that if he stays he still has to attend classes and maintain good grades. In the G League is all basketball all the time.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

    This is definitely true.

Some guys are surprised by that element of pro basketball. It is all basketball all the time because basketball is your job. You have to get up and go lift. You have to eat right. You have to work on different elements of your game with a mind towards improvement.

You can’t just go in the gym and shoot. You have to go in the game and work at game speed. You have to work on your jab step 17 footer. You have to work on your step back 17 footer. You have to work on your one dribble to the left 17 footer. You have to work on your one dribble to the right 17 footer. You have to work on your pick and pop 17 footer. Then you have to do all of that again at 15. Then again at 19.

Then you have to work in the post. You have to finish while people hit you with pool noddles and push you with boxing pads.

    You have to condition.

    You have to stretch.

You have to watch film to understand the nuances of offensive and defensive sets that are three or four times more complex than anything you have seen to this point in your basketball life.

It’s just like a job. You clock in at 2 and clock out after the game at 10. On off days you might clock in at 10, and clock out at 5.

  • @wrwlumpy I am going. Headed to Scholz Garten before the game in case anyone else is going. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK BEAT UT.

  • @AsadZ I’m going. KU Alumni meets at Scholz Garten before – 4-7. LOTS of KU fans in and around Austin.

  • Coach wants the Magnificent 7 to hold the fort for 3 more games until reinforcements arrive. Silvio maybe for game 2 of the Conference. Lets find out who the best Big in the paint is. Get em Doke!!!

  • Unless KU is playing in the Erwin Center, Texas shows itself as a Football school.

  • LOOK AT THIS WEEKEND SCHEDULE! 5 TEAMS WILL BE IN FIRST PLACE. THOSE THAT WIN ON THE ROAD WILL BE SITTING PRETTY. I’ll be watching that Saturday game. Will undefeated TCU beat the Sooners at home?

    0_1514519904387_Capture.JPG

  • @wrwlumpy Man O Man, this weekend will really kick off the W/L column for Big 12 Hoops! This TCU vs Oklahoma contest could loom huge for the league’s final outcome. Trae Young and Co. are gonna face a real challenge, right off the first pitch. If Jayhawks can come away from Austin with a win, KU will be one game up on TCU or Oklahoma before midnight Saturday.

  • @wrwlumpy Strike that midnight talk. Before suppertime Saturday!

  • @REHawk

The winner of the OU-TCU game will have earned a big win and validation, no question about it

I know a lot of people here will take OU in this game, and that’s a pretty solid pick for sure. I myself I dunno , I have just got this feeling for some reason TCU shows it’self and pulls this game out and gets the win.

Maybe it is just me wishful thinking, but then again, this is a chance for TCU to really prove themselves this season , goon be a huge game, going to be interesting to see if the TCU fans will show and support their team that will mean a lot for them too. - -Their fans have to get out and support TCU and Jamie. Gonna be some really good games let’s do this. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @RockChalkinTexas I will try to make it, came into town yesterday evening

  • @wrwlumpy

It is not outside the realm of possibility for four of the best five teams in the league (Baylor, KU, OU, West Virginia) to all take road losses to start the conference slate.

As has been said, wins on the road count for double, so whoever can grab a road win this weekend will be sitting very pretty.

  • @justanotherfan

Don’t forget Texas Tech., they Are probably the conference sleeper and will surprise.

I have KU, WVU an OU as the top 3 teams in the likely but not necessarily final order. Next I have Baylor, TCU and Tech fighting for a top hal finish and finally Texas, KSU, OSU and ISU at the bottom. We have a very small sample on the teams so far since games against weak teams don’t tell us much. We will have a better idea after this weekend.

  • Tonight is game night, but let’s face it. We are really focused on SDeSousa. We need to give him a nickname. I was thinking Sous, as a play on Zeus? Okay, a little corny, but the more I watch this kid, the more I like him. He reminds me of Shady. He plays with poise and is explosive. He needs some Hudyizing, and I believe he can be every bit as good, if maybe not better than Shady. The team is going to be nasty next year. We AIN’T seen nuttin’ yet.

    (

    )

The NBA loves former KU players. Listen at the :32 mark, “Rock Chalk”! LOVES IT

  • Self wants to beat Shaka like he beats Scott Drew.

  • @HighEliteMajor One more time for HEM.

It seems that she has become a Jayhawk!

    0_1514569959289_collage.jpg

  • @wrwlumpy She still looks much better in Blue with some Crimson. That nasty orange does nothing for her hair. The blue shirt definitely brings out the obvious.

A little music for the picture?

  • @wrwlumpy

Too bad that whoever did the Photoshop job did not place a Jayhawk in her cheek to replace the Texas logo.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

I agree. I have Tech as the either the third or fourth best team in the conference, behind KU and WVU, even with OU and ahead of Baylor. They are at home, so I figure they beat Baylor, but if the home teams all hold, most of the top half of the conference will be 0-1.

Any way you slice it, it’s likely that at least a couple of the top half starts out 0-1 (either Baylor or Tech has to lose, and I can’t imagine OU, WVU and KU all win on the road). That’s the fun of the round robin. You can’t dodge anybody.

  • Texas has the # 2 defense according to Kenpom. Wonder how much of that is Bamba. Have to get him into foul trouble early and change the tempo

  • @BeddieKU23

In the conference, Texas is second in scoring defense allowing only 60.4 ppg but it is also last in scoring offense with only 72.4 ppg. If you look at the overall conference stats, Texas is at or near the bottom in all the good stats and at or near the top the top in all the poor stats. The only good stat where they lead is blocked shots with 6.3 bpg; KU is 5th with 4.8bpg. Bamba leads the conference in blocked shots with 4.3 bpg.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Yeah this is a typical slog team from shaka. We have to bring one of our best offensive games to prevail in this one. I can see bamba being a big factor

  • Looks like Andrew Jones is playing tonight. Not 100% but he played really well vs ku last season

  • BeddieKU23 said:

A shame KU got involved in his recruitment too late.

  • Gotta win this game in Austin Folks. Gotta win the first two contests. Then we might have a bit of league breathing room. Unless we get a power forward onto the floor to do some damage in that third game at TCU I would not wager a nickel on the outcome.

  • @BeddieKU23

Bamba is a potentially elite defensive player. He’s incredibly raw offensively, but from a defensive perspective, he could quite possibly be the best defensive player in the country - he’d be the overall #1 pick in the NBA draft next June if he were anywhere near that good offensively.

  • @justanotherfan

Yup his ridiculous wingspan is just unheard of. I think he makes life really hard for the guards. We haven’t shown to be a team smart enough to put our body into bigs and make them foul us

  • @BShark

Agreed. He obviously plays well against us because of that

  • @BeddieKU23 I read a UT thread and they don’t think he will be 100% with his wrist?

  • BeddieKU23 said:

And he is just a good player in general.
