SILVIO DESOUSA

  • I wish Bill wouldn’t say the international pipe line being open is strange. ahem adidas still scares me. Not that I think the staff did anything wrong, but who knows what adidas did? If recruiting seems strange to the coach is that a red flag? Hopefully I’m just paranoid, as I’d hate to see any harm befall our beloved Jayhawks.

  • @dylans KU didn’t do anything wrong directly, I’m fairly sure of that. We’d be foolish to believe absolutely nothing happened though. The outlook on Doke changed from “Nike kid going to a Nike school” to ending up at KU.

The alternative was not recruiting top level players at all.

  • @BShark does rhe signed loi bring the reclassification talk to an end?

No. That still should happen and hopefully we find out this week.

  • If it weren’t for Bill Self and the belief in his character, I’d actually be surprised if payoffs didn’t happen regarding Kansas, on that dusty, sweaty continent.

  • Bill obviously thinks Silvio is an immediate impact and believes he should be a top five recruit if not for playing over in Africa. He would be the third big and would be a much better option than Mitch, who, bless his heart, doesn’t have the size to battle against athletic bigs and doesn’t do anything offensively. The dude can ball with the best of 'em.

    Yeah, Self seems pumped.

  • @Fightsongwriter I was thinking JoJo only played 1st semester of his senior yr.

  • I remember seeing something on Silvio doing well in international ball. I think that was part of the reason he didn’t play AAU this past year right? Maryland wanted him bad and he has a solid base of skills to work with and refine. He’s a physical specimen, just like Big Dave. Self bringing the beef with the burgers next season

  • Mechanically, all KU would have to do in a reclass would be to not hold him to his 18-19 LOI. Just receiving it has no impact.

  • @Barney You were thinking correctly.

  • This kid is fantastic, I love him already!

De Sousa said Monday he was elated to hear KU announced his signing to an official letter. “It’s a pretty good feeling, amazing to sign with a school you like,” De Sousa said in a phone conversation. “I’ve been working on my game, doing it all my life (since he was 10 back in Angola). Just to get to know where I’m going to play at this level, it’s a great day.” He made just one official visit, choosing KU over Maryland and others. “I fell in love with the school,” he said. “I didn’t want to be the type of guy to just go to four or five different schools to visit when you already know where to go. Once I got there it was amazing. In short answer, I would say Kansas is the best place to be. It’s like my dream school. I decided to make the dream come true,” he added, noting his dad, who played professionally overseas, has long been a fan of KU’s style of play. “The coaches teach you things on and off the court,” De Sousa said. “They are tough on you in practices and games. They care about you.”

Everything sounding good! Also of note he plans to stay beyond this season for sure, in case anyone was worried about that.

  • Good stuff. Glad to have him and if he can join early an early bonus for the team and himself

  • @BShark MAN - - -what a statement - - whew. - -love that, goes to show this kid knew what he wanted, saw what he wanted, and committed to what he wanted. - Sound like a bright kid love that.

Makes a lot of sense. Kind of like what I told my brother awhile back, sounds corny but I told him IF I would of been talented enough back in my playing day of basketball, to where I was blessed enough to be getting attention from the big boys? - -It would of been simple for me - -I would of told these Coaches, I thank you for your consideration and interest in me BUT don’t I don’t want to waste your time - -I’m going to KU period. - -Why would I say that? - -because like De-Sousa I love the school – De-Sousa says he fell in love with KU - -good for him - I like that why waste these other schools time. - Yet when he committed we heard from some other fans - -OH well KU had to pay him money - something fishy KU is dirty lol. - -The kid fell in love with the School - -His dad right? - -has liked how KU ran things for years how about that lol.

After reading this - I just got even a more instant like for the kid then before - -think he is going to do great things for KU. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Me too man, but I don’t think the staff would have been that interested in a 6’1’’ fat center like myself. 😂

Lol Ahhh, come on bud , I bet you were a terror on the glass right? lol. - -like sir Charles the round mound of rebound. I hear ya buddy - I got a nickname on the team all the guys called me BW - -as in bench warmer lmao - well not quite that bad I did play but ummm ya. - but like I said IF I would of been that’s what I would have done dead serious about that - -why waste a schools time right if you know lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Read of an article with De-Sousa his guardian still feels like it is very likely that De Sousa will end up here in December and possibly be ready to play around the 29th of December against Texas.

He says he feels like there will be no problem with his eligibility just have to wait for score to be revealed to De souse and his guardian and examined by KU & the NCAA.

His class graduates in December due to the fact he started in January It is his high Schools 8th semester - It just sounds pretty good - just have to wait.

His guardian if he played a semester for KU that he would be eligible for the NBA following but said he is not going to do that - -he is not ready- he wants to break some records he says lol. would sure be a help to the frontline this year. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I think that is the same article posted by @BShark 3 hours ago.
