Chorfs

  • I’ve been an Alex detractor but he was absolutely NOT to blame for the Raiders loss.

  • @BShark Soley to blame? Hell no! Not even close. Part of the overall problem that will keep the Chiefs from winning a Super Bowl. Hell yes! The team is too flawed for someone less than perfect to guarantee that. Alex Smith is pretty darn good - way better than the crapfest KC had at QB since Green, but he’s not elite (i.e.Montana or Brady). And I’m afraid with that defense that’s what you’d need. I would’ve been shocked if KC would’ve won with the D on the field, the O had to close and they couldn’t. It’s just sad to watch - it’s always one unit or the other O or D that’s inept.

  • @dylans You are preaching to the choir. I don’t know if Mahomes is the answer but when the Chiefs drafted him I was ecstatic.

  • I think Mahomes is a complete joke personally, the chiefs don’t have a enough big receivers for his just throw it game. I guarantee Mahomes throws considerablely more picks than Smith.

  • I rarely jump to these other threads, but really, we scored 30 points on the road. Our defense has to get some stops. I am not an Alex Smith fan. I’ve felt he’s too conservative (odd thing to ever come out of my mouth). Our secondary is a disaster. But our scheme is largely to blame. It’s all man to man, which creates difficulty in run support (because the defender is back to the ball). The bend don’t break philosophy, stop them inside the 20, does not bring added pressure – blitzing backers or corners, or safeties – near as much as might be helpful in late game situations. It’s a give and take. However, the philosophy held Pittsburg to 6 field goals last January. A game we should have won. A game that fell on Smith’s shoulders. I also think last week vs. Pittsburgh was a Smith issue. I don’t think the Oakland game was his loss. And I think our five wins to start the season don’t happen, but for Smith’s excellent play.

@kjayhawks I think you’re wildly underestimating Mahomes. Keep an open mind. A QB with a wild gun can be managed, dialed back, instructed. Time will tell. He will throw INTs, no doubt.

  • @HighEliteMajor I think the play calling late vs Oakland was questionable as well most the game vs Pittsburgh. You could make a strong case for Smith for MVP if you look at how effective he has been, dudes completing over 72% of his passes with 15 TDs and 0picks. Now his yards aren’t overly impressive at 263 per game but that one has to consider the chiefs have the leading rusher in Hunt.

  • @kjayhawks I think Smith is the correct choice for this team but you gotta try to draft QBs to try and find a franchise guy.

  • Not sure why I’m sticking up for Alex Smith like am seeing as how the Chiefs aren’t my favorite team , but unless they playing GB then ya I follow them , anyways Again like I am trying to point out just a few more things to point out: - -Alex top QB in passing yardage 1979 , - - 283 yds per game , - - His rating is 120.5 - - - -2nd only behind Sam Bradford with a 124.4 rating. - -he is 165-228 for a 72,4 passing completion

Alex doing this all the main time being Sacked 21 times all ready the 2nd most trailing only behind Matt Stafford 23 times - -has to say something for Alex achieving this with that.

He has the 5th highest total QB rating off 67.8 - -Right behind Brady - -Have to say again - Alex is for sure doing his part - the blame is not on him. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Maybe Mahoney is not quite yet elite but he is by no stretch of the imagination a complete joke. He has the tools and potential to be a great QB with a huge upside. With some experience he will be a very good QB.

  • Despite being behind an average O-line, Alex is playing at a very high level. He has overcome several issues from past years and that is the reason why he is in the MVP conversation

  • Chiefs stink!

  • Wow

  • @dylans why would we have kelce pass?

Maybe because the interception when Hill tried to pass against Denver didn’t provide a sufficient lesson to the coaching staff?

  • Losing to the Giants is as bad as it gets, almost KU bad.

  • I concur this loss is a major low. Several situations are working against Chiefs, key injuries on both sides, Alex not playing as well as he was earlier in the season, Reid’s coaching has been suspect - too many bad calls and predictable play calling, many holes in the Defense. I don’t think they can make many adjustments in the next few games. With AFC West so bad this year Chiefs will win the division but it is looking like another season with loss on 1st playoff game.

  • The Chiefs need a CB desperately. Gaines is not an NFL caliber player.

  • Chiefs secondary is a complete joke, Peters is feast or famine and as @dylans Gaines isn’t NFL caliber neither is Sorensen.

  • @kjayhawks I was going to say exactly that but forgot Sorenson’s name. One of the guys who tries to tackle by hitting without trying to grab the guy. Bounces off more often than not while watching his target sprint away, it seems.

  • I hope Revis has something left in the tank. He should be a huge upgrade over Gaines.

  • Can we please change the title of this thread to

    Chiefs ⤵

  • @mayjay I didn’t do that

  • I kind of like it as “Chorfs” but we could change it to Chefs and I’d be OK with that too

I was on the fence between the two. Def don’t deserve to be called the Chiefs right now lol.

  • I was at the game today

What a waste of offenseive talented roster, had high hopes that Chiefs will win today but our Defense can’t stop anybody. Every opposing QB looks like Brady. Also Peters is a Butt case, how he was acting on the sidelines after ejection is pathetic

  • @AsadZ

Can’t blame this loss on the QB. Peters needs to be suspended, he is an embarrassment to the franchise.

  • I thought Smith payed pretty well as did the offense with 31 points but the secondary is terrible and Revis isn’t any good at this stage in his career. The defense really needs a complete overhaul.

  • @kjayhawks

That long run Smith had was crazy good. I was hoping he shoved the defender and scored.

  • Chiefs had a bad draft. Mahomes better be Super Bowl good. Because that is what he cost us this season IMO. We essentially wasted our first 3 picks on two players that basically don’t see the field.

  • Not going to bother watching another game this year.

  • Per ESPN

What could have been? The Texans averaged 34.7 points per game with Deshaun Watson starting, compared to 14.7 points per game with Tom Savage as the starter. When Watson got hurt he was on a streak of four straight games with at least three passing touchdowns.

Why did the Chiefs take Mahomes? He’d better pan out! It doesn’t look like Alex’s rope will be very long even though his play isn’t the root of the Chiefs problems. Poor line play and a terrible defense is KC’s downfall.

Peters needs to be gone PERIOD a disgrace to the Chiefs with his actions, & this isn’t the 1st episode with him = -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 “Peters needs to be gone PERIOD a disgrace to the Chiefs with his actions …”

True, true, and really true. I will restrain myself from further commentary. You are right on point.

  • @HighEliteMajor

By now, I believe most Chiefs fans feel the same way.

I sure hope that they would. - It’s just that their last game was just the straw that broke the Camel’s back. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • There is a reason that Peter’s and Kelce fell as far as they did in the draft. The Chiefs have been huge risk takers the past 6 or so seasons, taking extremely risky players. Sometimes it works out great. Look at Houston and Hill. But with the good comes the bad.

Now, I don’t want Peter’s to be gone. I just want him to grow up, or get a coach in here who draws a line in the sand and players understand and respect that. Same goes for Kelce. There is passion and then there is being a complete moron.

You just don’t see these issues with the Packers, Steelers or Patriots. Sure, all of those teams have HOF QBs. But, all three of their careers could have gone completely different directions had they started their careers somewhere else. It is about developing a culture that doesn’t tolerate stupidity or distractions. Once that is in place, the rest takes care of itself.

  • Peters has always been a troublemaker and a hot head. As a junior Peters was suspended one game for a “sideline tantrum” and he was later dismissed from the team for disciplinary issues. Nothing new with his attitude. I say trade him while he has some value and before he becomes the next Kaepernick.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I find it semi-comical how the KC Star continues to run articles/columns aimed at propping up Peters. Always trying to tell us how great a guy he is, how misunderstood he is, how we just need to look at it differently. I think four or five such articles this season. Meanwhile, some Redskins player defames our entire town, lies, claims that he was being called the n-word, etc., and they just let it go. They report the claim, but don’t do any journalism to defend the city from the total lies. And the NFL does nothing either. Meanwhile, the same folks in the media slobber all of Kaepernick, who wouldn’t last two minutes debating his positions (whatever they really are). The media are just willing propagandists. Journalism is dead. Great society we live in.

  • @HighEliteMajor

On this we agree 100%. Peters is overrated, he gives receivers a big space always looking for the interception but in the process always gives up yards. I say trade him while he has some perceived value and let him be some other team’s headache.

  • @JayHawkFanToo That crossing route he got beat on vs. the Jets was exactly what you are referring to. Goal line situation and he just gets smoked on a basic route. Dealing the guy couldn’t come soon enough for me.

  • @HighEliteMajor

Yep. Can’t give up that much space in the red zone, it is a recipe for disaster.

  • @HighEliteMajor If I could give you 1,000 thumbs up, I would. Amen.

  • The best thing about today’s Chiefs game? The KU game is on at the same time, so no need to watch.
