Astros win - - Astros win RE - -( Wissox

  • Sorry I was reading and ended up wiping it out couldn’t get it back. = =Anyways I’m sorry but have to say your wrong on this one. - -I checked - -AGAIN Cleveland had the best record in the American league- They was 102-60 – 630% - -Houston was 101-61 - -623% so I mean close but not the best.

If Houston had the best record - -they would have played the wild card winner in the 1st round instead of Boston - the Division winner of the East the Yankees division . - -That’s why the Yankees had to play Cleveland 1st the wild card vs the Best team in the playoffs.

Houston really good - hoping NY can win a couple in NY - we shall see. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I didn’t look it up obviously, but thought I’d read that Houston had the best record.

  • @wissox I think the Astros did have the best record in the AL for a big chunk of true season, but Cleveland was white hot late.

Well since we last talked things have gotten REAL INTERESTING. – everyone talking about everyone else’s pitching staff other then NY. - --Well Guess what have just totally shut the high powered offense of Houston down - unbelievable pitching. - -Even in our two losses 2- , 2-1, was really good pitching.

Having said that I think this WILL go the full seven , and as far as game seven - -I think it’s a crap shoot. - -Houston I think obviously wins tonight with Verlander - -we already beat one Goliath but don’t think so tonight hopeful but realistic.

Yankee bats have done much better as of late in the series having outscored the Astro’s 21-9 time will tell. - -Good luck it’s all in good fun. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • So you’re a Yankees fan, Packers fan and KU fan. Sounds like you’re a frontrunner.

  • @wissox If Missouri basketball were the best of the local programs @jayballer54 would be a tigerboard regular. 🤹🏾 😉

  • @BShark

    Careful there…you might give @jayballer54 a heart attack. 😃

Let me give you examples: - -For the Yankees I loved the Yankees when they had are you ready? - - -Clete Boyer at 3rd - - -Tony Kubiak at Short - - -Bobby Richardson at 2nd - - & Joe Pepitone at 1st ALOT, - -When they had Mantle - -Maris - -& Tommy Tresh in the outfield. - -Whitey Ford, ,Mel Stottelmyer - - Thurman Munson - - -Ron Gidry - - Goose Gossage - -good times. - -Even the Reggie era

I was Green Bay when we had Bart Starr, - -John Brockington, - -Floyd Dowler, - The Ice Bowl with Dallas - -Ray Nitschke

I’ve been through the years at KU when Teddy sucked - -but I was still there, Went through Yankee down years, but through these you didn’t see me jump ship - -that’s the difference between a fan and a closet fan.

That’s just like to me makes me sick I hear people say well I like KU in Basketball - -& K-State in football- - -bout makes me sick. - -If your a real fan for KU your not a fan of K-state in anything - -and that includes cow tipping & Cow patty skeet shooting - -so yep I guess that’s what you want call me then so be it – one thing I’m not is a BANDWAGON FAN - - - ARE YOU?

  • @jayballer54 Well, obviously when you were a kid you were almost a dictionary definition of bandwagon–Packers and Yankees in the 50s and 60s? Don’t get so upset about it–I would say pretty much half the country was the same and the other half was on the “Hate them” bandwagon. Face it, embrace it–you became a fan of those teams when they dominated the papers and the airwaves. No competition for your MLB or NFL attention in the 50s and 60s (A’s were a joke, Chiefs were new league AFL).

No one should or does question your homegrown KU loyalty. Don’t take it so seriously. You just happen to be kind of lucky to have the fandom you do.

ONE OF THE GREATEST POSTS I EVER READ!!!

    PHOF!

  • I grew up a Red Sox fan because my family has Massachusettes ties. Of course, that meant hating the Yankees. At some point I started hating the Sox too because they became pretty much two sides of the same coin. Huge money markets with massive salaries and hired guns. Now both have done better with homegrown talent. I think that is what makes these baby bombers a little more likeable than in years past … And scary. No business being on the doorstep with a team so young.

  • @mayjay Sorry but my passion and my loyality for these teams is not something I joke about. - -There are people that see that and of course they want to throw their jabs insinuations - -that’s why all the way from my teen years have gotten into some pretty heated discussions with people who wanna talk smack on the teams I am a fan of.

Is it a down fall of mine? - -Sure it is - always has been - -always will be , No one can deny when others talk shit about the team they are for that it doesn’t bother then to SOME KIND of degree - -just happens my passion loyality for these teams run deeper. - -Then of course people see who you pull for and automatically think your a fair weathered fan - -umm guess again.

People can think what they want but as you bring you say 60’ 70’s when they were really good - - But I was also right there in the middle 80’s when they sucked. - -People get pissed at the Yankees because of their Big Market status and all their money they have to go and get the big time players. - -Because they are in a Big Market area is that their fault? - - You know - -I know and anyone who knows anything that if KC was the same size of Market they would be doing the same exact thing

One of the very first Big Time free agents – -Jim Catfish Hunter was I believe the 1st big time Free Agent landed by New York. – Actually in that case - - KC’S offer was bigger then NY’S - but still went to NY - -when asked why? -He said he wanted the opportunity to go to a winning program - -with an established history of winning and a better chance of getting to the series. - -Is that NY fault? Sorry the teams I pull for is one thing I don’t joke about nor some people trying to pretty much come and say being a fair weather fan.

  • @mayjay Where people should of been if they weren’t was on the hate wagon for the DallasCowboys. - -I got so sick and tired of hearing ALL the time - -Oh the Dallas Cowboys America’s team - - Well I’m an American and they sure the hell wasn’t or ain’t my team.

  • My apologies @jayballer54, It’s just sports, didn’t think you’d get offended. You’re right, we choose our teams for a variety of reasons. Most of us just go with the local teams and accept our fate. Thus, I’ve celebrated 1 White Sox championship in 100 years, 1 Bears championship in the last 50 years, 2 KU championships in 30 years.

  • @wissox No apologies necessary , It’s MY downfall - - a weakness of mine - -always been that way , and has caused some pretty heated conversations amongst friends in my past. -I know it’s just sports your right -yet everyone has or so it seems that ONE thing in their life that they are overly passionate about I think. - - Mine happens to be Sports. I’m a sports Junkie - -eat , sleep , and breathe it lol.

I think it all stems a lot from being so active with all sports growing up. Basketball - -Baseball - - Foot ball - -Track you know. Then me being able to Excel in baseball and making that ONE huge mistake by not following my dream of professional baseball. - -Had my chance , and let it slip away, but like I believe I have mention before things were a lot different in the early 70’s then now as far s salaries go.

Spending my time officiating Basketball for so long staying close to the game - -Coaching Football - -Basketball - - Baseball So I could stay close to my passions after my days were done as a player in these sports - - It’s my weakness - -you are for sure not in the wrong - -again you need not apologize , I should apologize to you actually - -and so I will - -SORRY once again I’m quick to react -it’s just my fix - -these Damn sports lol. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
