Colquit is nice. A weapon even, under Herm…

Having a poor kicker sucks. It’s terrible to lose a football game for non football reasons (kicking). The playoff game against Indy that the Chiefs kicker, Lin Elliot, missed from 35, 39, and 42 yards in a 10-7 loss makes me think kickers are overly important given they don’t play football. Kicking is it’s own mini-game within the game.

Fortunately the Chiefs have had solid kickers since Succop.

  • Amazing to discuss Chiefs’ kicker issues without mentioning Jan Stenerud…cough cough…Miami…Christmas Day … ahem … two overtimes…(choking to death, expires)…

  • What a nice come from behind victory. Also Alex is playing at a high level. Go Chiefs.

  • @AsadZ not a good start by the defense! Thought it was going to be a long pm.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Perhaps they were too juiced up for MNF 🙂

  • Go Chiefs! @Texas-Hawk-10 and my brother and son are there. Texas hawk probably not rooting for chiefs.😳

  • @KUSTEVE probably not too happy about this L.

  • Texans fans are like unicorns but supposedly they exist.

  • @BShark he’s a Houston fan? Talking about injuries!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Body bag game tonight. ☹

  • @BShark The results don’t surprise me. I think the Chiefs are the best team in football.

  • @BShark Watching Conley’s Achilles rupture was brutal. Esp. since it was in garbage time. Watching Deshaun pad his stats was gross (in garbage time). Wtf D, don’t quit early.

  • @dylans Would you prefer Watson lay down on the field and quit because they’re behind?

  • @KUSTEVE there’s always the ole injury reason. They were dropping like flies w/serious ones!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 We lost our best player, our difference maker, for the year. That wasn’t the Texans padding the stats; that was the Texans coming together as a group to not give up, even though they were way down. The loss of the captain of the team … there’s very few players that can do what JJ Watt can do, and I think the guys wanted to keep fighting as hard as possible until the final whistle.

  • @KUSTEVE I didn’t think of anything as padding stats last night. They genuinely were trying to win the game. Hell, if that catch is in the endzone and not the 1 yard line, there is still a chance for them to win. And, I felt that there should have been at least 2 seconds left on the clock after the last play. Enough time for a recovery and a hail mary…

  • Chiefs once again ( Chefs) layn the egg 🍳 at home vs Steelers. Andy should lhave taken the FG with th 12 ticks remaining . Even my dumb ass can see with Pitt ball control KC will run outta time even if it genius ball overcomes idiot 💩 . Remember it’s da Squaws uh um, da Chefs … they still suck & will now be MUCH worse without GM Dorsey. Clark may know Superman but he doesn’t know shit about football 🏈 Change his name to Zack & give him a soccer team he may just st be a winner

  • Crap game but the ending was even worse.

  • @BShark Time to do some of your “magical” global moderator response damage control magic cause they may look like Chiefs but play like pussies . Need to trade Peterrs & Kelcie NOW while their value is high & their intelligence level is extremely low. They are both freak athletes but clearly major league idiots. Reid’s pedigree is a flippen misery (MU) has been (choker.) Zackly (ethnic alphabet) why they ran his fat ass outta Philly. Hunts just way too stupid to shove him outta KC. Clearly he fired the wrong damn guy. Time will prove us right. Reid sucked at misery, couldn’t win the big one at Philly, & will never take a KC team to win a championship in the NFL. Bridesmaids is the best they’ll ever be.

  • @globaljaybird Maybe calm down?

  • It seemed as if Chiefs were looking forward to TNF, came out totally flat on both ends. Hopefully this loss will ignite some fire for a long run from here on out

It’s a bad match-up tbh with all the defensive speed the Steelers have.

  • I understand although Chiefs could have been more creative on Offense, move Smith around a bit. They made some adjustments in H2. Steelers came in and punched us in the mouth by their running game, I am disappointed in that aspect.

  • @AsadZ Kind of discouraging that the DC came out and said they won’t change anything if they play the Steelers again.

  • @BShark He needs to watch the film

  • @BShark Well, yeah. We’ll tell them that. 😉

  • Not sure if anyone is watching KC currently but former KU standout CB Dexter Macdonald has started the second and done a solid job thus far.

  • Watching

  • Chiefs are the only team I have ever seen that constantly tries tackling without using their arms. And, the only team I have ever seen that routinely drops the secondary back 5 yds beyond the 1st down line on 4th down pass defense.

With their defense playing this badly, they deserved to lose both last week and this week. Very unhappy rest of season if they don’t get the secondary straightened out.

    Bye bye Cubbies, incidentally.

  • Kansas City had better get their secondary figured out fast, they are extremely lucky Cooper had 5 drops most of which were wide open or the game ain’t even close down the stretch. They stink at tackling and just look small and underpower in the front 7.

  • @kjayhawks didn’t even try to address the position this offseason. Gaines shouldn’t be in the NFL. Murray and Sorenson can’t cover a TE. Peters is just doing whatever he feels like. Its ugly.

  • @Kcmatt7 I love Berry but the dudes spend more time on the IR than on the field. That’s why they should’ve gotten a better back up and drafted some DBs.

  • @kjayhawks Dorsey’s refusal to use the Franchise Tag has always dumbfounded me. Did the same thing with Houston. Last year on contract, he takes the “prove it” stance. And then follows that up without franchise tagging them and forcing them to keep proving that they should be worth an outrageous contract.

  • The Defense was terrible last night. Phillip Gaines is horrible. I would be able to complete a pass against his sorry coverage. But Alex lost the game when he couldn’t engineer a drive to eat up the clock.

I’m still cheesed at the ending of the Oakland KC game.

  • This post is deleted!

  • I don’t even know why Oakland tried running plays when the passing was wide…and I mean WIDE open. Even Bender would have had a field day passing. 😃

  • My brother is a huge Chiefs fan, and he was telling me about all the Chiefs fans crying and whining about the game and once again trying to blame Alex Smith for the loss.

I just had to laugh and he agreed. - These kind of fans are the type of fans that are never satisfied. - -Like I told him if they want to find the REAL reason for the loss all any fan has to do is go to ESPN. COM go to NFL and pull up the stats, these things DO NOT LIE. . .blame your defense - -they can’t cover a cold. - -Dead Last in the NFL out of 32 teams - -KC is dead last. - -ranked 31’st against the pass - -teams yardage per completion right at 8 yds - -gives you plenty of options, 2nd - -30th against the run out of 32 teams - teams averaging 5 yds per carry. - -News Flash your not going to win a lot of games with a defense like that. - -

Don’t think Alex can help any on that side of the ball. - -Don’t try and blame Alex . Smith has the 5th best overall QB rating in the Entire NFL, that includes being rated higher then Matt Ryan from Atlanta - & my own now disabled Aaron Rogers. - -I think most people would take that. - -Still no interceptions. - -KC is # 1 in the entire NFL on offense - --IT’S NOT ALEX SMITH. -People want to bitch about play selection - -That’s not Smith, that’s your Coaching staff - -your offensive Cordinator.

They Call the plays in - -Alex runs those plays - -oh sure he can change the play - -BUT if the coach calls the play - Alex overrides it and it craps - like throwing and INT from his own play call or a fumble , or gets thrown for a huge loss - -that turns into Alex ass - the Coach going to be all over him wondering why the hell he overrode/changed their play Call. - -Their last series 3 rushes in a row. That’s not Alex - -last time I checked he wasn’t anywhere on the O-line to make that block, move the D-Lineman to clear the hole.

Don’t give the lame ass excuse that stink weed the rookie could come in and do better, oh sure that sounds good now - - he is a damn rookie , your not finding hardly any rookies that can come right in from the start. - - -He is still learning the read the defense/coverages. - -Big difference between looking good in exhibition games when most the time you have guys other rookies and undrafted trying to make the roster, then the regular season against Veterans.

All you have to do is just look it up - -right there in black and white. In KC wins it’s going to be in a lot of the cases KC just going to have to try and out score the other cause the Defense really really sucks. - -Hey at least you all season isn’t over, – -at least you still have a healthy Qb. - -Mine got shot right out the window with Aaron going down but like I said and always knew - we were always just one hit away from our season going to hell. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I think those were the same people who insisted the Royals won despite Ned Yost, and that he was only to blame for losses and should not be credited for wins. Or the people who think Self should not get credit for the Streak, because after all, we are KU and we always win at AFH – as if always winning at AFH has nothing to do with the home record rung up by Self.

Haters gonna hate, and stupidity will find a way.

  • @jayballer54

This loss rests squarely on the shoulder of the defense, particularly the secondary which was b_t_h slapped by the Raiders.

  • I’ve been an Alex detractor but he was absolutely NOT to blame for the Raiders loss.

  • @BShark Soley to blame? Hell no! Not even close. Part of the overall problem that will keep the Chiefs from winning a Super Bowl. Hell yes! The team is too flawed for someone less than perfect to guarantee that. Alex Smith is pretty darn good - way better than the crapfest KC had at QB since Green, but he’s not elite (i.e.Montana or Brady). And I’m afraid with that defense that’s what you’d need. I would’ve been shocked if KC would’ve won with the D on the field, the O had to close and they couldn’t. It’s just sad to watch - it’s always one unit or the other O or D that’s inept.

  • @dylans You are preaching to the choir. I don’t know if Mahomes is the answer but when the Chiefs drafted him I was ecstatic.

  • I think Mahomes is a complete joke personally, the chiefs don’t have a enough big receivers for his just throw it game. I guarantee Mahomes throws considerablely more picks than Smith.

  • I rarely jump to these other threads, but really, we scored 30 points on the road. Our defense has to get some stops. I am not an Alex Smith fan. I’ve felt he’s too conservative (odd thing to ever come out of my mouth). Our secondary is a disaster. But our scheme is largely to blame. It’s all man to man, which creates difficulty in run support (because the defender is back to the ball). The bend don’t break philosophy, stop them inside the 20, does not bring added pressure – blitzing backers or corners, or safeties – near as much as might be helpful in late game situations. It’s a give and take. However, the philosophy held Pittsburg to 6 field goals last January. A game we should have won. A game that fell on Smith’s shoulders. I also think last week vs. Pittsburgh was a Smith issue. I don’t think the Oakland game was his loss. And I think our five wins to start the season don’t happen, but for Smith’s excellent play.

@kjayhawks I think you’re wildly underestimating Mahomes. Keep an open mind. A QB with a wild gun can be managed, dialed back, instructed. Time will tell. He will throw INTs, no doubt.

  • @HighEliteMajor I think the play calling late vs Oakland was questionable as well most the game vs Pittsburgh. You could make a strong case for Smith for MVP if you look at how effective he has been, dudes completing over 72% of his passes with 15 TDs and 0picks. Now his yards aren’t overly impressive at 263 per game but that one has to consider the chiefs have the leading rusher in Hunt.

  • @kjayhawks I think Smith is the correct choice for this team but you gotta try to draft QBs to try and find a franchise guy.

  • Not sure why I’m sticking up for Alex Smith like am seeing as how the Chiefs aren’t my favorite team , but unless they playing GB then ya I follow them , anyways Again like I am trying to point out just a few more things to point out: - -Alex top QB in passing yardage 1979 , - - 283 yds per game , - - His rating is 120.5 - - - -2nd only behind Sam Bradford with a 124.4 rating. - -he is 165-228 for a 72,4 passing completion

Alex doing this all the main time being Sacked 21 times all ready the 2nd most trailing only behind Matt Stafford 23 times - -has to say something for Alex achieving this with that.

He has the 5th highest total QB rating off 67.8 - -Right behind Brady - -Have to say again - Alex is for sure doing his part - the blame is not on him. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Maybe Mahoney is not quite yet elite but he is by no stretch of the imagination a complete joke. He has the tools and potential to be a great QB with a huge upside. With some experience he will be a very good QB.

  • Despite being behind an average O-line, Alex is playing at a very high level. He has overcome several issues from past years and that is the reason why he is in the MVP conversation

  • Chiefs stink!
