Iowa State Cyclones

  • @Crimsonorblue22 So do I. It just puts a pit in my gut because I want so bad for these guys to have success. BShark I am afraid you are right. Just gut wrenching to go thru this every weekend. SAD.

  • So painful! But I will support the players

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Good on you. Me also. I am sure you are like a lot of us that is so tired of the jokes and snide remarks every week. But we must keep the faith.

KU should be playing a dual threat athlete at QB right now. The line isn’t ready to protect a pro style drop back guy. You have to have a guy that is ready and able to run and make plays with his legs.

    Amen

agrees. - - BUT you think we are going to see him? - -hell no. - -we have a coach that is digging his own grave. - -I want someone to try and justify to me WHY we have a guy that is 8/19 for EIGHTEEN YARDS FOR THE GAME ! ! ! why do we have him as our starting QB? A guy that has more INT’S then TD’S ? - -yet that dual QB that was suppose to be the perfect fit for this umm quote in quote - -Air Raid offense STANDS on the side lines?

wouldn’t you think that MAYBE oh I don’t know just MAYBE you might want to at least ONCE try and stretch the field at least make an attempt to throw it futher then 3 yds down the filed? - But yet on the other hand with the guy that’s back there that’s a sure INT. - I don’t know about you BUT getting pretty sick and tired of watching 61-19 games 38 -0 games always looking at 30 point plus blow outs. - -Is it possible to be worse then w were last year? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • This offense makes Bender look bad but at the same time he isn’t great. Not sure KU has a good QB on the roster, but we will never really know due to the oline.

@jayballer54 Can’t throw downfield if you can’t pass protect fam.

  • @BShark Bender is an average at best QB and so is Stanley.

  • @jayballer54

I would prefer we keep it civil and do go on calling KU players a piece of crap. I am sure Bender is doing the best he can within his obvious limitations. Take it on the coaching staff, they make the big bucks and are responsible for this fiasco but the players deserve at least some respect. Just my personal opinion and you can take for what it’s worth.

@jayballer54 Can’t throw downfield if you can’t pass protect fam. OK,- - sooo, Bender isn’t great - -Stanley isn’t great - -so NEXT man up - - Starks - -Period. o o wasting away on the sideline. - -ALL we heard or read was how starks was the perfect dual option QB for the offense - -can’t be perfect if he can’t get the chance on the field. - What we going to lose at this point? -sure in the hell can’t be any worse. - -Bender makes Bender look bad - -just pitiful decision making - -today just another example 8/19 -18 yds? - -Overthrows but big margin - -bounces passes in front of receivers typical day - -the only time he completes passes is to the other team.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Ya and I’m not usually this hard either - -ALOT of frustration built up - -week after week after week - -I’m sure he has heard ALOT worse believe that. - -ONE thing I won’t back off of is and you don’t have a leg to stand on with him is - -this kid has not proven ONE THING period. - Sure the Oline is bad - -but damn come on he is so bad on his passes he throws a lot more bad then he does good. - -Just one example out of many is how you miss someone WIDE open in the end zone who is 6-6 Bostick I could go on and on and on with his throws - -decision making. - -But look I’m not going to bring this to a war of words or badgering back and forth. I’m just stating - -your making your statements. - -Bottom line - -Bender isn’t squat - -Stanley maybe no either - -But why at this point in time when either or both has had ample opportunity - -WHY should Starks now have his turn? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • One thing in this game is - -You can’t really dog on the defense today. - -They did respectable. - -I mean ok yep 45 pts - BUT look at what they have had to work with. - -Muffed snaps - -bad snaps - -interception - -fumbles half a field to defend , a offense that can’t get ONE yard on multiple occasions - Why do we STILL continue to throw these little screen flare passes two yds backwards where the defense is almost there before our attended receiver catches the Ball? - -Today is not on the Defense

Agree but oline makes them look putrid.

  • @jayballer54 Don’t see Starks being any good, but if he is it is a huge indictment on this coaching staff for not evaluating properly.

  • I really don’t know what to say about how bad we looked today. Just when you thought the offense looked improved. The defense did okay forr what they was dealt but goodness. It’s crazy to watch even tho I predicted it but ISU blowing us away with most the same team in a tight one a year ago. Where is the progress?

  • I feel sorry for the players. I think they’re trying hard, but every game we shoot ourselves in both feet in the first quarter. Sometimes D, sometimes the O and today special teams. Start off down 2 or 3 TDs and there’s no way to execute any kind of plan. Then it’s downhill from there.

  • @DanR Offense was much more responsible today than special teams. The offense didn’t reach 100 yards for the game until their final drive in the 4th quarter.

  • @jayballer54

My point is not how good or bad they are, if they would be 5 or 4 or even 3 stars the would likely be playing somewhere else. These kids are playing their hearts out within their limitations and they deserve a little respect from their fellow Jayhawks. You would not call your own kid names because, even when trying his best, he is not good enough to compete against more talented players, would you? This is all I am sayin’…

  • @DanR @Texas-Hawk-10

It is apparent that we just don’t have the players…or coaching staff…to be competitive in the conference. Yes, the conference as a whole is better than last year but our team is not even a good as it was and it seems headed in the wrong direction. At this point I am not sayin KU should be winning but it should at least be competitive and a 45 point pasting at ISU indicates it is not.

Oh well…at least we have a kickass basketball program.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I strongly disagree, ISU doesn’t h ave better athletes than we do. We can’t make simple plays that should be routine for most football players. Look at both teams rosters right now, I’d bet money KU has more players that make a NFL roster than ISU. I bet Wise, Armstrong, Dineen, Lee and Hidjeni (misspelled o lineman) all make an NFL roster while one defensive back and Lazard make it for ISU. These are the same core players as a year ago. ISU is developing players and KU clearly isn’t.

  • @kjayhawks Armstrong and maybe Lee are NFL talents on KU’s roster and that’s it. Adeniji is way too small to be an NFL lineman. Wise will get a training camp invite and that’s probably it. I don’t even see Dineen really getting a look because of his size.

  • I am guessing my prediction of a close game was accurate only to the extent that the two teams usually were near each other on the field.

  • That one is gonna leave a mark.

  • @kjayhawks

…and…this is why I wrote players, not athletes. KU has decent athletes who have not yet developed into players.

    HA that’s good lol. - -The other two just tearing it up on the field? - -lmao - Like I said he sure the hell isn’t any worse, If he wasn’t Any good then why did Coach about wet. all over himself saying multiple - - multiple times this is the guy that we was looking for to run this offense;

His turn has come - -sure the hell isn’t going to do any worse -But let’s not give him a shot - -I get it lets just let him rot away on the side. - How do you know he isn’t any good if he doesn’t get game time snaps? - -things that make you go hmmmmmmm. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @JayHawkFanToo - -OK THANKS -figure even though some I won’t say who think I’m always looking to be obnoxious - -looking to argue be un-considerate - be did respectful -which that’s not what I am doing - -BUT these kids have heard FAR FAR worse in the locker rooms - been called a whole hell of a lot worse by their own friends. - -

Waiting for it to come - -this is going to be locked up soon – - these kids handle them with kid gloves oh let’s not hurt their feelings - Sorry that not whats coming from me. - You ever hear if it walks like a duck - -and it talks like a duck - -then it’s probably - -A DUCK. Ok ready? - - - Lock it UP - -that’s a wrap I’m on to other things - - READY - - GO – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 we’ll see but I stick to what I said. @JayHawkFanToo if only our staff developed players.

  • Don’t we all know it by now: Beaty isn’t the guy to bring back our winning football program. I give credit to Coach Meacham for his work improving our offense in the games before IState. But, every other aspect of our program has gotten worse, much worse. Both line coaches must go right now. I like Beaty as a person. He and his staff made progress in the recruiting area. But on the field, which is the only thing that matters, our Jayhawks are a joke. Beaty’s comment about needing some tough players is telling: our lines are not tough enough to compete. I suspect the reason our players aren’t tough enough is because our coaches aren’t tough enough. We need new line coaches today and a new head coach by summer.

  • Beaty is underwhelming, but he still needs 5-6 years to be given a true shot. He started in such a hole the first year shouldn’t count against him and the next recruiting class finally looks decent. The problem is, the on the field product isn’t improving very quickly and we all have the desire to see it fixed now!

    ^^^^

Tough decision but I agree with this timeframe.

  • @dylans Been my position all along. Even if Beaty never improves the W-L record, he still needs 5 years to bring the scholarship numbers in line for whoever is coach in 2020. He started in such a hole that it’s going to take a full 5 year recruiting cycle just to get to a full deck. Give him that time, evaluate then, if he’s shown enough progress, keep him and if not, then bring in someone else. That someone else will at least have a full roster of players to develop going forward.
