McDonalds

  • Is it just me OR is there ohers like me? - - Just seems like to me that these All Star games like the McDonalds all star games is pretty pointless aren’t they? - -I mean it is just so free lance rag tag, you don’t really get a quality look at these guys do you? - -It is just a dunk fest, sand bagging free for all - -to me anyways, as far as I’m concerned it really wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they did away with these. - -Ya in the game tonight the final 3 minutes was ok - -game close and looked like they might be actually trying to play some D - - but other then that - - psssssssssssssssssssssssst - please. - - Porter name MOP of the game - - So what? - -you gonna beat your chest beause your named an MOP in a game such as this? - -for what it’s worth Preston scored 10- -2-2 from the 3 pt, but really not a lot to see. - - Duvall look decent.- -Just curious is it just me? - -Just don’t get really excited. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 These All-Star games and AAU games all pointless to judge a kid’s potential on. AAU plays so many games so close together that kids don’t play much defense because of the energy it takes so those frequently turn into All-Star style of play type games as well. HS ball is where you really see these kids get after it.

The McDonald’s game along with the other All-Star games are pure entertainment at this point so if that’s the view you take into watching them instead of expecting to see quality play outside of the last few minutes of the game, then you won’t be disappointed and will enjoy the product.

Diallo was an allstar game mvp nuff said.

Every time I read something about Preston it’s similar. He’s great WHEN he is focused. Hopefully Self gets the best out of him.

  • @BShark I really don’t count Diallo because the NCAA screwed him over so bad that we never got a chance to see him get going. Missing those early games screwed up his development big time.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10

True. He was very raw and that did him no favours.

From what I’ve read, most of the KU message board posters do not expect a Josh type season from Preston. Everyone has seemingly tempered expectations. No idea about the fanbase at large though ie twitter, all the tshirt fans, fans that only care in March etc…

  • @BShark JJ was the consensus top recruit in 2016 while Preston is rated in the teens in a range where he’s not a presumed OAD. There should be lower expectations for Preston because he’s not as good out of HS as JJ was. That’s not intended as a knock on Preston or his skill set, it’s just reality.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10

Right. I’m just pleasantly surprised that the KU fanbase by and large has taken this stance on it.

Let’s hope that, if he indeed proves not as good as JJ, we demonstrate patience during the season in the same measure as we have demonstrated realistic expectations this Spring.

  • Gotta say, young didn’t seem anything that great. He’s no BIFM. Anxious to see how he does against us next year.

  • @jayballer54 That’s why I never watch them. Once a few years back was more than enough. Makes me chuckle like in Days of Thunder when the guy says “Now go get your own car & let’s see how ya do in a crowd” … It’s really all about the sizzle & not about the steak.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Young thinks he is Steph Curry. He will probably end up being worth the headache, but maybe not next year right away…
