NCAA Tournament Committee sneak preview

  • I hope FSU goes to the south region, they are a nightmare match up for KU.

  • @Hawk8086 Too much ball left to play to get too upset. 21-3 though and winning everywhere right now, albeit in pretty ugly fashion, well, it could be worse. I think if they win the Big10 they really ought to be top 2 or 3 seed. And I’m guessing most teams in the country would not want to see Wisconsin opposite them before the Final 4. There’s a lot of NCAA success playing for that team right now.

  • Ok for KU, easy for Baylor. The bracket won’t look anything like this on selection Sunday. It’s fun for now though. Here’s hoping KU maintains that one seed in the Midwest!

  • Interesting. The ESPN Game Day crew did not have Kentucky in the top 16 and the consensus was that they did not have enough quality games left in the weak SEC to move up; I believe Bilas indicated that they were just playing poorly.

  • Florida St loses, which should cost them a spot on the 2 line. Butler loses as well. That has to put Wisconsin in the top 16. By hook or crook, they will figure out a way to give Dook a 2 seed. If we had hung on, and beat the Clones, we would’ve been the number 1 overall seed. Oh well, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, it’d be xmas all year long.

  • @KUSTEVE

Wisconsin and Kentucky are being hurt by playing in weak conferences while teams like Duke are benefiting from playing in strong conferences; without the win over UNC, Duke us not a top 4 seed. This might be the first time in a while when the Big 10 does not have a team in the top 16.

  • The Big10 has had a top 4 seed since 2006, so has KU. Don’t feel too bad Big10 the Big12 is getting used to being outperformed by one squad also.

  • This preview was a joke and nothing more than a popularity contest for the ACC. Not having any big ten teams is a flipping joke. Joke joke joke. Did I make that clear

  • @BeddieKU23 I disagree - I like to see where teams are getting close to March. I dont know why some are salty about this. BTW, the Big ten is really weak this year compared to the last few years, so no surprise that no teams were in there - maybe you could put Wisconsin in there but thats it.

  • I honestly think it was a waste of time, as we saw FSU lose and probably moves them down. I think the only reason they did it was to hype it up. I read an article a few years back about a guy that went to the FF and said it sucked in these huge 100,000 seat football venues. That the crowd noise was nothing and even in the 5th row the court is too far away. All it is the NCAA trying to get rich. This helps hype it up to sell tickets. I also hate the fact that there are more, longer commercials in the games. It makes them take so much longer and sucks.

  • @Hawk8086 Actually, if you look at the sixteen in all four regions, they have then placed one-sixteen, and we have the roughest region looks pretty dam strong. - -you have KU at the # 1 Then Fla St is like # 12 ? then you have Arizona at # 6 And Duke #9 that’s pretty stiff - - - NO other has 3 teams out of the four that’s single digit in the top 16 - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY BABY

  • @KUSTEVE I kind of like candy and nuts lol - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 IS it a joke, you dodn’t make yourself very clear, just wondering lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @HawkChamp I Probably would have to agree on the Big 10, compared to previous years they are sad. Wisconsin would be one but other then that who? - - Look at Michigan St - they a NCAA team? - -what 10 losses already? - - Michigan? – Ohio St? Nebraska? Indiana? - - no these teams don’t deserve to be in, the records they have and still more season left Who other then Wisconsin deserves to be? - -you want them in off reputation only?- -just a down year for them. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I would not want to see Purdue in the dance. They’ve had a few perplexing losses, but so have we. And they’ve got size. Swanigan is a beast. So is their 7’2" center. The Badgers couldn’t handle them. I think, and I watch quite a lot of big 10 ball, that Purdue is better than the Badgers, or at least match up well against them. Meanwhile the Badgers keep winning, close games just like KU. I was a little surprised they weren’t given a top 4, but it really doesn’t matter much.

  • @wissox Well ya, goes to show how old I’m getting. For some reason I forgot all about Swanigan , the guys is an absolute beast, dam I can’t believe I forgot about him. – Good point. – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well, that sure doesn’t help Wisconsin, losing to Northwestern with out Northwestern leading scorer on Wisconsin’s home floor. – that is what you would consider a bad loss . Only Northwestern 2nd win at Wisconsin - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Totally jinxed myself talking about the Badgers today here! To be honest UW has been stifled on offense for quite a few games right now and I’m worried. Koenig is hurting and it’s definitely limiting his effectiveness. That’s the biggest issue right now.

  • Seth Davis made an interesting comment. He was surprised that Gonzaga was not in the #1 slot of the Midwest bracket over KU.

They all agreed this top 16 seeding will likely change next weekend. Let’s hope it’s not KU.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 A committee member was hosted this wknd on ESPN. One of the ESPN personalities made the comment that FSU’s size would give KU fits inside. I think we can all agree since Doke’s injury we are definitely at a disadvantage. It reminds me a bit like the year we played Stanford without Embiid.

  • @truehawk93 but we got speed! We didn’t have guards that year. Worked out ok w/faylor

  • I just saw that Virginia went down against the Hokies. The ESPN Game Day crew was HUGE on Virginia. They were singing Virginia’s praises. Well, there is the first change to a bracket.

  • @wissox did you see the game? - -I watched it I watched the 2nd half, was watching another game and they showed the 1st half hi-lights so I thought hell didn’t even know it was on. So I turned to my Big 10 channel. Oh ya I’m real thick - -hell another team I forgot about from the league that should be there is Maryland, forgot they were in the Big 10. So actually you have Wisconsin, Purdue, & Maryland. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @truehawk93 I wonder why Seth would have them in the Midwest over the West when they are a school that is on the west coast?

  • @jayballer54 Yeah, I watched it on DVR until my phone showed me the score and I turned it off.

  • @jayballer54

Maryland might have had a great chance of cracking the Top 16 if they had beat Purdue at home. As it stands Maryland has a really weak overall resume. The Big-10 being down doesn’t help them get marquee wins. Purdue or Wisconsin or both should have been in the Top 16.

  • So they have it:

    #1 Villanova

    #2 KU

    #3 Baylor

    #4 Gonzaga

    #5 Oregon

    #6 North Carolina

    #7 Florida State

    #8 Louisville

    #9 Kentucky

    #10 Arizona

    #11 Florida

    #12 Virginia

    #13 West Virginia

    #14 Butler

    #15 Duke

    #16 UCLA

IMHO Butler doesn’t belong and Florida is too high also, but the rest look close. UCLA is too low.

Once again, don’t waste too much time on these projections, there is too much basketball left for them to stand up. It’s just a snapshot of where the teams were on that day.

  • @truehawk93

Gonzaga will stay as a #1 seed but their conference schedule is so weak that offset its decent non-conference schedule and this is why it is the fourth #1 seed… Keep in mind that more recent games carry a higher value than older games, this why the loss to Indiana will not hurt KU as much and why, with every game it plays, Gonzaga’s numbers drop. If Gonzaga loses one game its numbers will take a tumble and they might end up as #2 seed.

Apparently the Computer ranking place a big emphasis on margin of victory and this is why teams like Kentucky and West Virginia appear to do well in those even when they rank considerably lower on the human polls and the RPI.
