DP's absence is turning KU into a very good team. Which is good, because you can stick a fork in him. He's done. We will not see him play the rest of the season.

      lol

@FarmerJayhawk okay so nothing serious still just working thru tightness, he hasn’t looked explosive at all in a Jayhawk uniform, not even a little. So hopefully that comes overtime.

@kjayhawks2.0 in all honesty, he's running out of time. The season is almost 1/3 over. Its a real shame that KU will not benefit from a player of that potential caliber

America! Where you have the right to be wrong.

Manomanomanoman. Whew. Someone at the party mentioned the game going to OT, so I got home to watch and watched anyway but without any tension. But then i watched the OT with a lot of tension.

I guess I'll be forced to take back what I wrote about Melvin Council and glad the refs had the sense to not slap him with a flagrant on that inadvertant elbow. But where did that outburst come from? Goodness me, if you had him going all downtown Terry Brown on UNCState tonight I hope you bought one of those billion dollar prize lotto tickets too.

Seeing the team win after losing DP was a relief of course. This is a team with some resilient players.

            2 bench points. No bueno.

11 games now, no opponent has hit 30% from 3 against us. It's one reason why hope is building for a more positive end to the season.

Did Council really score 36 points?

            Tough environment to play in.

I hated the announcers. Glad I was rushing through the recording every chance so I didn't hear everything. The 'clearly a flagrant foul' comment was ridiculous.

So here's how I found out about the game going to OT. My KU roomie has a nephew who is a student manager for the team. He was playing NCState in the manager game earlier and got his nose broken. My roomie sent me a picture from his nephews broken nose with the comment that it was broken just like Melvins elbow against that guy. So i watched the whole game thinking Melvin was gonna get kicked out for a flagrant. Was very relieved the refs, who weren't great, weren't listening to Jay Williams and let it go. I mean when a guy is trying to intentionally foul, if you get whacked in the nose in the process it's kind of like your own fault.

Also, how can Melvin have a game like that and then miss two crunch time FT's that nearly cost us the game?

Melvin was amazing. He played so hard and logged 43 minutes. As he missed the second front end 1-and-1, I said to my wife that he may just cost us this game. She reminded me that we wouldn't have been in this game if it wasn't for his offense and that I should focus on what he did all game, not just a couple of plays when he surely was tired. He has been so fun to watch this season.

@wissox83 I'm guessing you appreciate Melvin now. That was absolutely ironic. Rock Chalk!

Melvin is probably my favorite player on the team. I wish we had him more than one year.

Yes I think the longer this lingers, the more likely he shuts the whole thing down. I’m hearing we knew about his hamstring issues during recruiting and didn’t bat an eye. It’s a lesson to be learned we can’t throw that kinda of money at a guy to spend 90% of his time here in sweats on the bench regardless of who’s fault it is or is there is any fault. I’ve seen nothing down DP that makes me think he is going to be the next NBA great. He looks like an average NBA player at best to me. Now maybe that’s his hamstring slowing him down but he doesn’t have the quickness to get open at this level, he’s really gonna struggle at the next. I think you could make an argument he’s not even the best player on this team. I’m sure he’ll still be a lottery pick based off of potential but I’m staying far away from him as an NBA GM.

I seriously doubt we will see Peterson these ;last two Non Conference games. Self will sit him to rest for the Conference

Peterson needs to play to build chemistry with the team but you are probably right.

If DP was really hurt again he would have been back in the locker room I think. 31 minutes was a lot for him and we needed all of them. Even when hampered he is special.

Yeah he’s definitely not all the way back yet. We saw what player he really is against Louisville, the best guard in college hoops.

@FarmerJayhawk He is tentative and it shows. He doesn't want to go back on IR. This win by the Hawks was big for us 5-1 since the Duke loss and not a cupcake among them. I have been dreading a 4th loss and now we could finish the year 10-3. That's a positive for sure. The first wave of conference games are all winnable until ISU in Ames. But conference games on the road have always been a guessing game.

He’s got a lot to prove for me to call him the best guard in college hoops, arguably ain’t the best guard on his team. I certainly hope he gets healthy and is but I’ve seen nothing from him that warrants the hype he has gotten thus far. Is he better than Bmac, Wiggins or Jackson? I haven’t seen it if so. He’s better than Henry but that’s about it of our OADs from what I’ve seen. I’d be happy to be wrong but he has to prove it.

@kjayhawks2.0 it’s not even remotely close, he’s our best player. His BPM is almost 19, which is absolutely silly. For reference, the guys you mentioned were between 8-10. And that’s not even counting him going supernova against Louisville. He just has that other gear that’s unreal.

Just got to the intentional foul where guy got elbowed. As usual, I have nothing nice to say about Jay ā€œBidingusā€ Williams, and will leave it at that.

What a show by Melvin! Really happy for the kid. Thriving.

Just a reminder for some...you can cancel your ESPN+ subscription if ya want. We just have one more hoops game on Dec. 22, then that's it til football or hoops next year.
