If some clueless mom wants to badmouth Self as a way to drop a hint, then who needs that drama? Obviously she doesnt know Bill Self well enough to know he simply isnt going to get mpg decisions get directed by micromgr/irate parents. Clearly, she is oblivious to the Carl Henry/X.Henry/CJHenry Saga. Ugly locker room scene where Self went nuclear “MF’ers” vs X. and CJ, and Carl Henry was squarely to blame (not the boys).
Look, “ma”, if your boy Billy Preston can play more like Josh, and not like Carlton…then he’ll play as a frosh. Self ALWAYS at least TRIES to play his frosh to see what he has. Self struck gold with frosh Rush, frosh Sherron, frosh Embiid, Wiggins, and Josh Jackson is the best frosh Self has had. All the other frosh played their way onto the bench.
Its about whats best for team, “ma”, not what’s best for your son.
Self is 82% wins since 2004, and there is NO COACH in America with a better record in that timeframe. Period. I think he is capable of making playing time decisions, eventhough a fair number of us on this site nitpick his mpg decisions.

I’m sure a lot of schools use this ploy. I’m sure USC and Maryland were apart of it as well. It’s all part of the game but you would think these kids would see through the fog…

I agree Self plays the players that give him the best chance to win. Diallo was clueless. Cliff was actually rounding into form/shape before he had to shut it down due to his parents and the NCAA.

If other coaches are bad mouthing KU I know who would be my first guess, he coaches in the big 12 and has a reputation for doing just this.
