Who wins? - -Big 12/ Sec?
-
Big 12 wins 6 or 7 if we beat Kentucky. As much as I hate typing this, I think Kentucky wins tonight.
WVU over A&M looks like it’ll happen (1-0 Big 12)
Florida over OU (1-1)
Texas Tech over LSU (2-1 Big 12)
Kansas State over Tennessee (3-1 Big 12)
Arkansas over Oklahoma State (3-2 Big 12)
Georgia over Texas (3-3)
Iowa State over Vanderbilt (4-3 Big 12)
TCU over Auburn (5-3 Big 12)
Baylor over Ole Miss (6-3 Big 12)
-
WVU tried very hard to give the game away but ended up winning anyway. Too bad they did not extend the same courtesy to KU…
-
Vitale and soon-to-be-retired Musburger doing the Oklahoma-Florida game…that is right up there with Fran in the can’t-listen-to-it-anymore scale
-
A snippet from game day about the challenge…
-
This from ESPN – “Kansas hasn’t let elite opponents get in the way of winning, as the Jayhawks, who play at No. 4 Kentucky on Saturday, are an amazing 15-4 since the 2003-04 season against top-five teams.”
This is where Self is at his best.
Three days before Christmas against Temple, not so much. But who cares about that.
-
@HighEliteMajor but how many of those are road games? He isn’t getting a W today. Our guys just don’t have the mindset/attitude or understanding of the game to pull this off.
-
@HawkChamp Don’t under estimate our veteran players Mason, Graham, Lucas, or Svi. I will give them some credit. They want to win just like the other team. Even Calipari is concerned about their young guards matching our experienced guards. Landen will have to show his veteran leadership. Jackson will have to shine like a top ranked recruit. We’ve already said that Lightfoot will need an uncharacteristic game too. Coleby needs to be prepared to rest both LL and ML with some quality mins. If Adebayo(sp) has a good game, UK wins. KU needs to play their game and let UK self destruct. Calipari gave a peek of his plan that his players will have to hustle and dive for loose balls. KU needs to be physical and not take this game for granted if they want to win. IF they don’t, oh well, it’s non-con and they drop to around 5 or 6 overall.
Oh, hopefully the B12 reps well. But, all I care about is KU in the end.
-
@truehawk93 what else is Cal going to say? That he isnt worried? He knows if they play their game and get out in transition, they will win no matter what Self conjures up.
-
So far, KSU is not representing well…they look bad.
-
@Hawk8086 typical. Embarrassing for them that they only get up for games against us and West Virginia.
-
I see KSU coming back in this game. They usually react pretty well to being kicked in the face.
-
ACC note…Miami all over UNC 44-61
5:00 2nd half
-
Two big negatives working against us in the UK game today…
First, we have no depth. That means if we get in foul trouble, who is going in, Tyler Self? I actually see him getting a few minutes today regardless what happens.
Second, we have a heavy mismatch in the low post. That could mean a 25 point negative discrepancy in the post.
We still can win. But our guards are going to have to take over this game. This is where experience should trump talented youth, but we don’t always take advantage of our experience.
I don’t like our chances… but I’m just going to hope for the best.
-
@truehawk93 dont you love Jekyll and Hyde teams? lol
-
@drgnslayr We can suit up Case? He looks young enough.
-
@drgnslayr except for Frank a few times this year, our guards do not look like they are experienced. They don’t move their feet on defense, they make bad decisions/passes and much of the time look like they would rather be on the bus ready to go home. And its not just now that that has been happening - it has been like that since the first exhibition game against Washburn. Actually, they look like they have regressed as a group. Not sure what their mindset is.
-
OU getting punked at home…
-
What a week ranked teams going down. - -# 1 , # 2, # 4 # 6, # 8 , # 9 , # 14 , # 16 , # 17 totally nuts - - -Florida State got beat twice - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer54 yeah, UCLA lost twice in a week, UNC, FSU, and Villanova. Maybe the one seeds will have more losses than what I originally projected. We are still in the running if we finish strong.
-
@JayHawkFanToo heard Weber went down a different tunnel than his team did, on purpose? Did he get lost? Jk
-
Weber is a strange bird…
-
@JayHawkFanToo no bird!!️
-
Dodo bird?
-
I’m watching wake beating Duke, it’s close
-
How did we give up 88 points to KSU on our home court - they couldn’t get to 60 against an 11-9 Tennessee team… And, OU losing by almost 30 on their home court… B12 may end up winning the Challenge, but these are two poor showings and WVU barely held on at home. Not sure about ISU on the road…
-
@DCHawker ISU looking good. K State only gets up for big games and we were not good at all.
-
@time-to-rock-73 awesome avi!
-
I agree.
Enthusiasm should come from synergy created from within the team. The players. Coaches should just be there to add some fuel to the fire. Bill isn’t able to get them psyched up by himself. Very few coaches ever could. I’d say probably the best in D1 ever was Jimmy V. That guy was pure salesman, pure energy, all the time.
We lack leadership. It is that simple, and I’m sure I will be pointing that out for the next two months.
That leadership should be on and off the court. Our leader should have been on Carlton’s arse for the last 6 months. And if Carlton is hanging out with trashy people, he should step in and grab Carlton by the ear and drag him away.
It just feels like we have a very talented team of individuals. We need these guys to solidify as a TEAM!

@Crimsonorblue22 lol, well thanks wanted something different lol - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Not so much now - getting whipped by a 9-11 team…
-
@DCHawker yep had a nine or ten point lead in the first half
-
Looks like Shaka gettin his feet wet in the SEC… Welcome to BBB !
-
I will be attending my wife’s best friend’s 40th birthday party and may miss some of the game depending upon how availability of the TV… may the basketball gods have mercy on my Jayhawk loving soul.
The message to me is clear today. Guys, let’s win this one for Frank, through Frank, by Frank. This feels like the end of an arc that started with his game against Kentucky on November 18, 2014 when we got destroyed in the Champions Classic. Looking back on the boxscore, Frank had one rebound, one assist and shot 1-10, his 5-6 from the free throw line and zero turovers in 32 minutes of play the only statistical brightspot.
At the time, that was a big bright spot. After a year of Naadir, and previously EJ and Tyshawn, this kid had tight handles and came to play when the rest of the team gave up.
Now is a chance to rewrite that statline, and the team to follow suit.
Let the nation lazily tune in and see what they might have assumed, the #2 beating the #4. Let us recognize on this day that our kids saw through the funk of injuries and poor play and followed our floor general to an improbably victory.
Let the scouts see how much an athlete and leader Frank Mason is.
Oh yeah, and Josh. Bright lights, big plays.
Rise and shine fellas. Today is your day!
-
That ain’t the bus bureau either… That’s Big Boy Basketball Shaka…
-
Ugh. Big 12 down 3-4. Assuming Baylor wins, if we don’t…will need TCU over Auburn to split the 10 games.
-
@HawkChamp I will pretend your post didn’t happen. But I bet you’re happy.
-
@HighEliteMajor I am always happy to eat all the crow in the world
-
@HawkChamp Me too … I’ve got a little Lucas crow that lingers from last season.
-
@HawkChamp chomp chomp chomp chomp.
