So me and my zero gardening skills started growing lemon cucumbers in some pots a few weeks back (not from seed).
Other than the initial powdery mildew that attacked them pretty quickly, they seem to be growing and making some flowers.
I put a stake with each to help them grow up (ha), but that doesn't seem to be working!
Any advice on how to support the growth and cucumbers?

@rockchalkjayhawk We always planted our climbers around the edge of the garden with a wire fence, for it to climb on. Picked many a cucumber and cantelope that way. Prop up some wire mesh behind them?

Thx for the advice. That sounds good. I was thinking about some wire mesh, too.
Oddly the outdoor stores didn’t have any! I’ll have to head over to the hardware store.

Ever have a flubbed shot turn out to be a surprise? This was our trip without Mike for the first time and I got a double shot of double the love without even trying!

@RockChalkinTexas-0 I like the Jayhawk medallion your daughter had around her neck. 😁

When I got up earlier to bake a chocolate cake (just took out of the oven), saw the fox 🦊 saunter across the back deck, go behind the solarium, and jump up on top of the wood pile in the wood shed to get out from the much needed rain we are getting. What a life LOL.

I live near a narrow, but active shipping river, the Calumet. One of my hobbies is looking at my marine traffic app and seeing what's coming. This Oberstar ship is a classic lakes freighter, 800 feet long DSC07923.jpeg

Mike built many of these after seeing something similar at a gun show. He made fold away tables and sold them when he and our neighbor (Bob) went fishing all over east Texas. Bob was the co pilot when Nixon went to China. He knew and had mementos from several astronauts. Played football for Texas A&M and we celebrated with him the day we poured the slab for the house with a bottle of Dom Perignon. A true Texan. He was buried at the veterans cemetery in San Antonio and we went to his funeral.
