Well latest NBA projections

Agree. A back court of Devonte Trae, Malik and Lagerald with Garret on stand by is a dang good foundation to continue the 4-1 scheme.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I also think we should add another big. Who is available?
-
Sandro Mamukelashvili or a transfer
-
Currently nothing until the spring roles along. Transfers, decommits should all be in our wheelhouse after the tourney. We have one more to play with now that maxwell is gone.
It seems we should have a Bragg and Doke plus Lightfoot. Coleby will be interesting to see if he continues on playing with the way he has had trouble recovering. Preston is still in my mind not someone we can count on until his transcripts are accepted by the NCAA’S. Self will need to find someone he can potentially give 3rd or 4th big man minutes too.
Will be a fun spring seeing what we get

@BeddieKU23 I would love for us to have a monster recruiting class like Duke or Kentucky and combine about four or five high school all Americans with our (hopefully) returning veterans Devonte, Dok, Svi, Lagerald and Carlton. I would love to see what Bill can do when he is on equal footing with Calimari
-
@Ralph thanks
-
If Washington implodes and Romar is gone, that class could disintegrate and Michael Porter could become available and there is no way he goes to MU so KU could become an option. I know KU was not on his list but you never know. A transfer that can play without a wait could also be a possibility.

More important then having a monster class is having the pieces that fit together. We are all seeing what struggles Duke is having with a OAD roster that isn’t together as a team.
If we lose Graham to the draft we need Trae Young to come in here and be a tough nosed freshman that can make shots (something he’s very good at). That’s if Trae comes here.
Preston, Garrett, potentially Young, that’s 3 very good pieces. Newman was a top 10 player coming in so lots is expected of his one year here as a transfer. We are likely to get Cunliffe too as a mid season transfer, making that 5 potential top 50ish kids coming in. I expect we will still try and get 1 to 2 more after that. It may not be as sexy of a class as those you mentioned but might fit every gap and area of need

@BeddieKU23 i just want us to have a team that has the potential similar to Kentucky so we dont get out talented. Mixing it with experience and chemistry are of course important. So Cunliffe is eligible mid season?
-
If we do get Cunliffe how effective will he be after missing the first 15 games?

It should only be 9 games or how many games KU plays before the end of the 1st semester. Can’t really speculate how effective he will be missing those games but he’s a high level scorer that can be eased into the lineup. All depends on what Svi does

Yes he would be eligible mid season if he enrolls soon.
-
@HawkChamp Cunliffe would be eligible as soon as fall semester is over, same as Jeff Withey was. That means about 10 games based on this year’s schedule.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 ok thanks

Well, yeah. They have no business being in mocks right now. Could play their way into it but seems like they should return.
Cunliffe should be announcing any time now.
-
@BeddieKU23 is Preston not a done deal?? I wasnt aware of any concerns over his highschool ed.

Oh yeah his clearance will be one to watch. Went to 2 schools that now don’t exist… went to oak Hill knowing they could possibly help him get eligible. We will see what happens
-
@Lulufulu Preston spent much of his HS career in the same program that churned out Terrance Ferguson, Emmanuel Mudiay, and most of the other high profile HS recruits that have had to play overseas.
Billy Preston’s eligibility is going to be a huge story until his situation is decided one way or the other. Basically, hope Preston gets cleared, don’t be shocked if he doesn’t get cleared though.

Announced as done to KU about half an hour ago.
-
Self got Diallo eligible, he can do anything. Or so I hope.
-
I think you would agree that Preston and Diallo’s situations differ significantly so Self really doesn’t have much influence whether he gets here or not.
What is good though is that if the situation gets to the point where KU must intervene and help the situation out we have to feel confident that they would go to war for Billy as they did Diallo.
I don’t think the situation will prove too difficult if nothing changes between now and when he potentially gets cleared. He’ll either have the necessary grades, core classes and scores to make it or not… The only issue I see is whether or not he can get transcripts from the schools that no longer exist.
-
Yeah Diallo’s situation had a lot of mystery to it, unlike Preston. Just gotta hope he is putting in the work at Oak Hill.
-
Oak Hill has a good reputation so hopefully his work there will offset the previous stops.
-
@JayHawkFanToo The problem for Preston is that he was at Prime Prep/API for so long that one year at Oak Hill may not be enough to make up all the credits he needs to.
-
@JayHawkFanToo we can only hope Self was careful to avoid getting two recruits in a row with eligibility issues.
-
Sometimes you gotta roll the dice and hope it comes aces.
