Duke/Tenn St
-
@jayballer54 wow. The garbage call you mention is on ESPN too. Awful! At least Doris Burke was calling the game, and didn’t try to explain it away.
-
Hopefully another KU-Duke “meet and greet” in the F4…
Or, a meet&beat. Meat2Eat. I like seeing ratface squirm.
But what happened to dear Grayson Allen when he faced KU? What was his statline? (lol) And didnt he hurt his foot for a few minutes? Come flop with us, we’ll make you do it for real. And that can hurt, didnt it?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 THAT’S THE ONE I was talkin about . - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@approxinfinity told ya
-
@approxinfinity That call was BULLSHIT - -but then it’s DUKE - -it’s ALLEN – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@ralster I’d pay big bucks to get to see Dok hip check Allen into the next region at the F4.
-
I just saw the video and am incensed. That ref needs to be suspended without pay for the rest of the season.
-
@ralster our defense, which wasn’t even a finished product, held Dukes perimeter play in check and we’ll do it again.
-
It’s definitely in the running for worst foul called of the year. It just goes to show you how much reffing is influenced by what they think they see, hear, anticipate. One thing for sure we know Allen isn’t majoring in Business- It’s the old Acting 101 path
-
Tenn St is actually a decent team this year, took NC St to OT and beat Middle Tennesse St who is again good this year and beat Michigan St in the NCAA’s last year.
Only lost by 10 with all the help from those paid ref’s. Better check their facebook’s, instagram’s after Christmas, guaranteed they got some Duke gear from Coach K Santa
-
I just laugh when I read ESPN’s College Basketball page this morning- also known as the glorified sunshine pumper page for Duke and UK.
All the talk about Duke is with Harry Giles back they are the clear cut best team. Well he came back, played 4 minutes, didn’t score and now the new narrative is “Harry Giles’ debut still means plenty of growth remaining for Duke”. Had they won by 30 like the media expected it would have said" With Harry Giles Back, Duke shows dominance".
-
@BeddieKU23 I sure hope it made No 1 Not Top 10, because it was also the worst layup attempt ever. Epic fail. Nice lift and finish.
-
@ralster Not sure I want to see Duke in the FF to be honest. Too many bad memories of Duke getting the whistle.
To be honest I was going to start my post saying Duke is in our heads, that’s why we’re talking about them and griping about them.
Then I watched the video.
I hate Duke.
-
I’m sure it will. Allen does this frequently. Just when I thought I could forgive him for his tripping last year because he did man up and admit he was wrong this season, he goes and does this. This type of behavior is part of who he is
-
@jayballer54 things like this, make me hope coach K retires soon.
-
@BeddieKU23 I was going to ask final score, oops can look it up! Quit watching after they got down 17.
-
The call was so blatantly bad and the flop so overacted that Duke and the Conference need to seriously need to take a look at both. If they don’t issue some punishment then the NCAA need to get involved…this type of calls affect the integrity of the game as it reminds what happens when refs start fixing games…remember Tim Donaghy and the flack the NBA took?
-
That foul was a joke as a former coach, player and official if anyone thinks that east coast bias doesn’t exist is flat out blind. I think KU gets a few calls most the time at home as do most teams but the guys on over there get every call in every game, how many hand checking calls do these teams get compared to us or most other schools, its BS and its obvious too.
-
@kjayhawks Sorry, I just don’t buy it. I’ve beat this drum before and I will keep on with it because it makes us sound whiney. Villanova, Wichita, Stanford, Kentucky, VCU, NIU, Mich St., UCLA, Bradley, Bucknell, GTECH, Syracuse, Maryland, Illinois, Kentucky. Those are the schools that have knocked us out this century. Some east coast sure, but not enough to cry foul because we’ve been knocked out by 9 teams not on the east coast in that list. And in that time how many east coast teams have we knocked out of the dance? A lot? UNC, Duke. We actually kind of own Duke lately with the loss in Maui the only one I can think of in this century. I can’t think of one loss in the tourney that we can partially blame on the refs, and that was way back in 86.
I think there’s some east coast bias in the media, but not so sure in the way they’re officiated. But that’s just my opinion.
And one more opinion. I hate Duke.
-
@BeddieKU23 wasn’t that Middle Tennessee State?
-
The team Duke beat last night? No, Tennesee St. Tenn St did beat Middle Tenn St this year (the same teamt that knocked off Michigan St in the tourney last year)
-
@BeddieKU23 I saw the articles too last night. It is going to take a while for Bolden and Giles, if Giles even plays very much. Could he make a similar decision to Kyrie Irving a few years ago and only play about eleven games?
-
Kyrie didn’t recover from injury enough to play more then the games he did at the end.
Your right Giles is going to take time and the game was close so they sat him after he played 4 minutes in the first half. I’m sure his numbers will go up as he gets more practice time and chemistry with teammates.
-
@BeddieKU23 oops sorry I misread your post as saying that Tennessee St. beat Michigan State last year. My bad
-
Here is a good link on your thread topic -
Duke’s Grayson Allen drew an egregious phantom foul call after missing a layup
Grayson wouldn’t last 5 seconds in the neighborhood I grew up in. Everything about him relates to an elite mentality. And he gets away with it at Duke. Knowing that, he pretty much HAD to play at Duke or he would have been beat up in school parking lots, etc.
But hey… let Duke face another cream puff on their home court with their uncles doing the officiating. That doesn’t help them develop and only creates a false sense of security.
They won’t (and can’t) win another National Championship without having rigged the refs… just like their last “victory” against Wisconsin. Without rigging the second half they would have been toast.
-
@drgnslayr I have my doubts about Duke winning the ACC this year. This year and last year, they have not looked like a fast team and that is something Carolina will exploit.
-
Yeah… I have my doubts about their defense. I don’t think they have the defensive capability to win it all. But the season is still early and they do have how many McDs AA? 11?
I think a guy like Kennard may end up costing Duke a chance. He is playing extremely well right now, but I think he has reached his ceiling and he isn’t a good defender. Will he still be able to hold on to all those minutes now that their freshmen stars are getting healthy? Will he still continue to play the alpha role after Allen gets his health back, too?
What does return of Duke’s star freshmen mean for Luke Kennard, starting lineup?
