KU ROSTER 2026-27
-
He is a good player but I am not sure he is a good fit with Bill Self. I think there is a very real chance he has a Jayden Dawson type season
-
I think he's a better take than bashir because it's 50/50 whether he has a Dawson type season, whereas I'm pretty sure bashir would've been a lock for that type of season

Had 23, 10 and 18 against UNC, South Carolina and SMU respectively. Seems to be a good rebounder.
Wasn’t the most efficient those games but a sign he can score at this level.
Wouldn’t say he isn’t athletic but he is no Dawes. If I had to guess he would be a backup to Dawes.
Rotation is going to be interesting. I imagine we see a lot of Dawes at the 5 with how this is shaping out.
Passes the bar to get out on the floor for Bill at the very least. I don't think Bashir did and there was a real big chance Bashir would have been racking up conference DNPs. Quality depth for the 3/4.
-
@Jayhawk_69 Far better rebounder and defender.
-
Anybody know if Will Thengvall is still on the roster? I’ve included him above, but other sites don’t mention him.
-
Parker gives us a couple things. Insurance in case Kohl doesn’t get much better and positional versatility that allows us to go small without being absolute ass on the boards. Dawes, Stokes, and Parker can get on the glass when we go small.
-
Believe we are done with meaningful additions barring a miracle.
-
Given that people are not very enthused about Kinney starting, why couldn't Parker start? Stokes has the quickness, ball-handling, and passing skills to play the 2. Imagine a starting lineup of Blyden, Stokes, Parker, Dawes, and Reeves. That lineup would be elite in terms of size and athleticism plus it could also shoot pretty well. Then a bench of Kinney, Rosario, and Mbiya would be the best bench we have had in a long time.
-
Here's what Creighton Coover put together after Parker was added:
Projected Starters:
T Kinney
L Blyden
T Stokes
K Dawes
C Reeves
Primary Bench:
D Parker Jr.
K Rosario
P Mbiya
D Adkins
Depth:
L Barnett
T Perry
G Mordini

Fwiw, which is not much, CBSSports today KU projected as a #7 seed next year. Unprecedented. Whether that bears any relation to reality remains to be seen. But it is a reflection of how little is thought of what the Hawks have lost and have coming in. Same seed as VCU, which lost its best player in the portal to Tennessee...

#Jayhawkswhat's a Creighton Coover?
-
@DCHawker It technically isn't unprecedented because we got a 7 seed in 2025
-
@Jayhawk_69 Should have clarified that it is unprecedented in the Self era to have a projected preseason seed that low...
-
A 7 is WILD because the analytics guys have us around 10

@rockchalkjayhawk He posts all KU stats. Just the facts and has been someone who I have respect for. Just another point of view.

I think there is a chance Kohl starts. This is just a thought I have been having lately. He started to begin last season as well so the staff clearly sees something there, and with the way the roster is constructed it would make sense to start him or Parker to stagger the PG minutes a bit. Otherwise you kind of run into the problem KU had last season in starting their only two bigs albeit at a different position.

Kohl is starting. Kinney off the bench barring a huge offseason for him and he adjusts well.
Genuinely think we may see Dawes start at the 5, and the two bigs get 10 minutes a piece.

It will be interesting to see where things settle. Last year was kind of wild and KU finished in the exact same spot that they were ranked in the preseason on the analytics sites.
Biggest question is the 5 spot but this team definitely has some talent. Kohl and Paul will need to take big steps but the bench could be a bit better if that happens.

I'm not ready to make definitive statements yet but as the roster sits we see it pretty similarly. Ultimately Bill will play the best players and I think that could involve getting Dawes to the 5. The good thing is that rebounding theoretically wouldn't suffer too much as they have really prioritized rebounding with every meaningful addition this offseason. Even Blyden at 6' averaged 4 a game. Rebound rate for everyone is really good for their position. Parker is in the JR year CB range in terms of rebound rate.
-
Only two guys should feel confident they start and that’s Keanu and Tyran. Everyone else spot is up for grabs.
