Big 12 Games - Change
-
I read in the Austin paper last week that this year we are having a TRUE round robin schedule, in that each team will play all the other teams once and then the second half of the season each team will play all the other teams. This means that you will not have a scenario where in the past we played Baylor twice before we played another team the first time during the first half of the season and then we played ISU twice towards the end of the season a couple of weeks apart.
I likey. What say you? Were you aware of this change?
Just didn’t know if you were aware of this or if anyone had previously posted (if so, I apologize).

Hadn’t heard that. Interesting. I wish that all of the leagues were of the size that they could have true round robins. It’s pretty dumb to have a league that doesn’t balance it’s schedule in a way to make it fair for all teams.

@wissox I still hear it from KU haters about the orange bowl team: “hey, the didn’t play Oklahoma or Texas.” My lame response is “Well, we played the teams on our schedule.”

@stoptheflop Lucky for Texas and Oklahoma!

@dylans love it!

Anyone see this? http://m.kusports.com/news/2016/nov/18/former-ku-quarterbackreceiver-kale-pick-new-head-c/?templates=mobile

@stoptheflop The best thing about that season was we lost to Missouri in a once in a lifetime top 3 matchup, and then the Orange picks us over Missouri! I’d have been pissed if I was a Missouri fan, but of course if I was a Missouri fan I’d probably have drank some cyanide by now.

Oh, come on. If you were a Missouri fan there’s at least a 50% chance you’d be able to read a meth recipe better than that!

I was not aware of this but I like it.

The choice for the 2008 Orange Bowl was not between KU and Missouri but between KU and Oklahoma… MU had lost two games and was out of the running. The Big 12 and the Orange Bowl reached and agreement to have Oklahoma replace Kansas in the Orange Bowl and the proposal was presented by Big 12 Commissioner Beebe to the BCS committee which rejected the proposal and kept KU; OU ended up in the Fiesta Bowl… It is generally acknowledge that Lou Perkins single handedly and through his contacts kept KU in the Orange Bowl and it became his biggest contribution as AD.
