  @HighEliteMajor I have faith as well. I just thought after the Nova loss there would have been a sense of urgency to change the scheme defensively. Maybe that realization comes now, this year, with a roster made for possibly changing things up. There’s a good chance 7-8 guys return next season as well which gives him the time to implement a change not only for this current season but sets it up for future years.

  @HighEliteMajor we can’t play his 2 bigs against that auburn or that Villanova team. There were times we couldn’t play withey w/Trob. I don’t think we’ve played very good D since they stepped up the rules. I think that hurt us, but with the players we’ve had the last 4-5 years, to slow joe! That ou game there last year, was the worst defensive effort I’ve ever seen. Simple basic D principles. See ball see man, etc. and grimes was the worst!

  All of our scholarship players will get some early season minutes… minutes where they can prove themselves. If Braun stays healthy, he should be one of our quicker developing players. Hard to say how quickly he can make an impact at this level but I wouldn’t count him out of anything. Taking a developmental strategy, players like Braun and his attitude and hustle, he should be given plenty of opportunities to prove himself and earn minutes. Reward those who totally buy in to Selfball. The carrot needs to stay in front of these guys to help keep them motivated and advancing quicker. My only prediction right now on Braun is that he will become a big-time contributor at some point. The “when” is up to him!

  I want to see KU play Kentucky and Duke and UNC and MSU every year! I’ll never get tired of watching KU play quality national opponents. Especially after they’re overhyped, gotta love shutting up the media for a day or two. What I’m tired of is big boying the big12, it’s time for another national contender in conference. Texas screwed that up when they fired Barnes. Tech may be that if they can figure out how to get recruits there and keep Beard in place.

  @FarmerJayhawk They’re are definitive in anyway, but those numbers are useful for gauging progress. Agbaji at 27% is concerning because he was only at 30% last year. That’s an indicator that his 3 point shooting may still be in Marcus Garrett territory. Dotson being at 45%, but with low attempt numbers, is a sign that he needs to create more opportunities for himself from 3 because he has the abilities to be a dead eye shooter from deep. Silvio and McCormack having 4 attempts between them is a sign the neither has the range to take that shot yet. That is a sign that KU is going to have to get much better at ball movement than they were last season to create good shots for players. With Wilson and McBride, Wilson looks like he won’t be a great shooter right away, could be the one big capable of spacing the floor and opening driving lanes for the guards. McBride looks like he won’t have much issue adjusting to the deeper line and could potentially be the most consistent shooter on the team. While I agree nothing is definitive with these numbers, there is definitely some usefulness to them to give some insight into where the players are at.

  @Marco I think it’s a crapshoot on what happens. We can’t predict things like injuries. Injuries are huge. There are the big injuries that keep players out of the lineup. There are the small dings that can add up on a player and reduce his production considerably. There are other factors, too. Off-court distractions. Players getting ice cold… staying cold… perhaps for the entire season. Etc, etc, etc. Just too hard to predict, especially on the newcomers. Maybe one of them clicks in quickly and starts producing. I feel like the big positive with this team is that they will truly be a team! And lead by several, but for sure Devon will be huge. These guys have their heads on straight, and that’s huge. Chip on their shoulders. Confident. Fresh start. When guys come together to be a real team, everyone gets a huge lift. The guys that are cold get the support they need to bounce back. Everyone lifts up everyone.
