  @truehawk93 We can easily win out! Earlier in the year the players were getting the reputation for responding when things got tough. We won a bunch of close games back then. Now their backs are against the wall. This is good for them. Make them come out and fight. They either do it or they don’t, and they will always know they are the team that blew the conference streak. This is a great way to pick up momentum right before March! Win out and take the momentum into March Madness! Our guys could win playing blindfolded if their lives depended on it. That’s the kind of juice that needs to be pumping through their veins.

  all this talk about the conference championship being a burden is just perception to us fans. I’m sure the players from time to time think about the streak but at the end of the day it has no bearing on how we are playing on the road. You have Perry trying to take this team on his back like Monday and nobody else on board. Mason & Selden are non-existent in the leadership category. As a team they are not rallying among themselves to pull out wins and that’s a sign of a young immature team without a collection of leaders. Allen Fieldhouse has masked many more issues, without the home field advantage we wouldn’t even be in the conversation for #11. Unless this 2 game home stand finds a way to re-energize these kids the rest of the season will end just like the losses to OSU, WVU, & K-St have been.

  @KU-Flyer Can’t fix the problems of the team, but I sure know the solution to “old gray hair”. Found it a few years ago and have not had a gray day since. Comes in a bottle–highly recommended.

  I mention words about FFs… but I’ve stayed focus on winning #11. My pain is there. I feel it slipping away. I never counted on this team going far in March, but thought if we can win #11 and make a decent showing in March, I would be satisfied. This is really right there in our reach. The frustration is in feeling it slip away.

  @jaybate-1.0 I mentioed during the game that I was watching Greene closely while he was in the game. Weber had his guys blanketing him, switching off screens and whatever it took to keep a man on him. I did not watch as closely when he was out but the D remained about the same. It was very obvious the game plan was to take away the 3 and make KU’s big men do the work. Everyone knows KU has a weak spot in the middle so that is what they are going to give away. Perry made them pay for that and for awhile that was enough. We needed one of the 5’s to step up none of them did. Mason felt the pressure to save the game and tried to be the hero, to no avail. I told my wife about 5 minutes left in the 2nd that it was over, only thing I’ve been right on this week. Kind of disappointed in that. Oh and that air ball of Greene’s, that was the first 3 he took at the point of the game he regularly subs in, it was wide open if somewhat deeper than normal. Can’t blame Self’s game plan for that, he wasn’t close all night from outside, it was not a coming in at the end of the game cold hand thing.

  Weber is probably a nice guy and all, but his brother was the HS coach of Duke star John Scheyer. (I’ve told this story so forgive me if you’ve read it already) This was in the north suburbs of Chicago, Glenbrook North or South, I forget which. Anyways, seems like a slam dunk recruit for Bruce at the U of I, but obviously his own brother couldn’t deliver his star to suffer under Bruce Weber.

  @Kip_McSmithers He is. a PF and he is slated to replace Plumlee as the starting PF for the Nets. I am not sure why ESPN has him a SF when they are the ones reporting that Young will take Plumlee’s place.

  @ralster I have to admit my man-crush on the Mayor this year. Man… the way they shredded Texas a couple of days ago was really impressive. All of his starters and a few deep on his bench… all of these guys can not only score, but they can take their man in match ups. Many of our guys are limited in how they score. And how many of those ISU guys were McDs AAs? Any of them? Ralster… maybe you know. Does the Mayor recruit guys most based on their offensive capabilities or does he develop it in them when they come to ISU? I know part of the ISU game is around his offense and the sets he runs. But he has the guys seeing things during the game. One or two of their guys see something and they exploit it, either by themselves or together by using pick and rolls, etc. They seem to be taught less exact plays and more direct theories on how to score and what to look for. Their offense seems light years ahead of ours. I don’t think we can run offense like that even when all of these guys are seniors. My only break from “over-populating the world” this weekend was to see the ISU-Texas game and KU-TCU. Seeing both of those games together put me in a funk about Kansas moving forward. I’m looking at development… a while back we experienced Kelly “breaking out”… Brannen learning to D a little and rebound. We noticed progress. But now it looks like the guys are sort of spinning their wheels. Some moving backwards. We can’t seem to count on any of our bigs to be consistent. Perry is our most-consistent big. Wayne… oh man. Wayne… I recall he had a wide open drive to the bucket with a defender playing right under the bucket and Wayne took it all the way to the rim and forced the shot and missed. He was lucky he didn’t get the charge call. I’m watching that and I’m saying to myself… “Wayne… dude… pull up from 8 feet and bank it in. It’s a shot a 3rd grader would make. But you had to force the action. Why?”
