  @drgnslayr - good discussion. It looks as if Perry should just keep shooting open 3s. He’s got that range. NBA can definitely use him if he can consistently knock it down. He’s not as fluid as Wiggs when it comes to moves around the rim, but he can still find ways to score or get fouled. @wrwlumpy I was impressed how well Lucas performed that night - he was able and looked the best out of the other C5 to handle the giant. Diallo and Bragg look a bit struggle maintaining their stances even against shorter players - I’m concerned about this. I wonder if anyone notice that too. They get pushed around easily.

  @HighEliteMajor Chemistry is also built on trust. You ssid chemistry doesn’t just happen. So there has to be a sense of trust built in practice to carry over to the real game itself. I brought it up in another thread that even Cal tried to throw Skal out there and now he’s benched. I mean Cal benching heralded freshman is almost unheard of. But why did he bench him if he is such a great talent? I haven’t watched any KY ball so I can’t say it was chemistry or not but I do know he wasn’t getting it done. I think that Diallo and Skal both succeeded in HS due to their size and speed. The college game is faster than they are and guys are bigger than who they played against. Anthony Davis struggled his rookie year in the NBA u ntil he got to the weight room and matured physically. As to why only these two? Cause why not make it a choice and a discussion point?

  @HighEliteMajor It is unheard of. Even Kentucky last year didnt have the post depth we have right now. I just hope Coach can keep it going because its working! Dont fix it if it aint broke. One more month til the beat down.

  @JayHawkFanToo Yea but I’m kind of worry of these conference networks. Lets not forget the ink was dry on the Big 12 media deal before Big 10 gets it’s new deal, and the SEC creating the SEC network. I don’t know but Yes I like the Big 12 at ten but I’m not against adding worthy teams.

  Development happens during practice. If a player can’t grasp what they’re supposed to do during practice, why would they be expected to know what to do during games. Practice is where players start to understand concepts and once they start showing that understanding in practice, then they start applying it in games. There’s not some magic wand that instantly makes a player know what to do. Kelly Oubre gets brought up quite a bit in regards to this. It took him until Christmas time for the light to come on and for him to start showing that he understood what was expected of him in the system and to be able to execute within the system. Playing a player who does not know what he’s doing on either end of the floor doesn’t change just because he gets thrown to the wolves. That can actually be quite detrimental to the development of a player because it can destroy their confidence. Right now, Cheick Diallo us clueless on the court. He just doesn’t kniw how to operate within Bill Self’s system on either end of the floor yet. Playing out of control and being out of position doesn’t help KU win games or help Diallo’s development. We can all see the talent Diallo has, but that talent is not very developed yet and until he starts showing in practice that he understands where he needs to be on offense, can play at a slower pace (he rushes way too much when he has the ball now), knows how to rotate on defense, and can guard his man without fouling, his minutes are going to continue to be limited. Once he shows the ability to do thise things in a low pressure situation like practice, Self will start giving him more opportunities in the high pressure situations of games. Missing out on those early practices definitely set his development back several weeks and when the season is only 14 or so weeks, losing that time was huge blow to Diallo. The upside is that it could very well be a big enough blow to keep Diallo around a second year.

  Typical clueless, bureaucratic response from some one that has no clue. At this point they have no choice but to toe the line Zenger has drawn on the sand…regardless of how silly it is. I wonder if he has ever considered that the audience that misses just one basketball game in the KC Metro Area alone is larger than the entire audience for all that other programming for an entire year he so proudly mentions. If he wants to promote other sports, why are the women’s basketball and women’s volleyball games also blacked out? and why only in the state of Kansas? Are we, residents of the state and tax payers not entitled to watch what out-of-staters can?

  @HighEliteMajor Yes. I am worried. It makes you wonder when those 2 will get a chance. That said, I thought Bragg was not good last night…lost the ball off his leg, missed an open shot from the baseline. But, you are right…they all make mistakes.

  UCI Coach talked after the game that they are the team that usually wears down the other Bigs. Then he went on to say that they had never faced a team that had this many to throw at the Anteaters. Depth of the Bastards is what’s going to do it for us. We realize that we are blessed with our guards and Perry. Hunter and Landon made a statement last night that they belong. By the way, when Diallo came out of the game, I realized that Wiggs never got yelled at like Coach screamed at him.

  Well I’m behind Coach 100% I don’t really care how he does it, as long as we continue to win like we do yr after yr then cool, I mean as far as Cheick, ya I would love to see him with more time BUT all we see is game time and wonder WHY is he not playing him more? Well for one Coach gets to see him day in & day out not just on game night and using a lot of what we’ve heard he was surpose to be like, again the kid is very, very, very raw shows glimpse of you just know like look out, but then he shows ALOT of that bewildered look like ummmm what am I surpose to do, where am I surpose to be, Coach see’s his production every day in practice, you have to bring it every day practice included not just game time, and I’m not saying he doesn’t but he still is raw, and he is behind just like was mentioned during the game by the commentators thanks to the NCAA which thanks again you jerks, but it is awfully hard to agrue about Coaching ability and or thinking or how he does things when the guy is 196-9 at Allen since he has been here 98-4 against non con at Allen since he has been here and 365-79 overall and won 11 straight big 12 titles and a National Championship, kind of hard to battle that, bring any thing against those kinds of records. Oh sure we cal all sit back and say well he should of won more National titles, - - -ya? what school doesn’t say that? all schools would love to win the title almost yearly but ummm, that’s easier said then done, a lot of things go into play for that to happen. How is the team playing at the time of the NCAA’S, injuries play into it as we well know, what team is on a roll, no matter how good you are, it only takes 1 bad game in the NCAA’S and your done, in a lot of those games if we were to play best of 3 or best of 5 we would win, but this is 1 game looking forward to the big 12 race.   I was thinking of Vick last night, at the first half moment when 4 of our guys were miserably outrun by a UCI guard who raced downcourt for a layup. Told the wife, “I bet that Vick could have stayed with that kid!” Heartening to see LaGerald get a brief opportunity to show his stuff in the second half. Here’s hoping that he springs back to fine fettle.
