A big adjustment Self then made is running a ton of pick and roll. If teams try to counter that then we go back to Gradey getting looks. Pick your poison.

Even if the minutes go 50/50, KJ has earned the right to start.

  I know this might seem a little bit off but, you know one of the things I liked to see the most the other night against Texas ? - - It wasn’t scoring or anything but ONE thing kind of stood out to me during the game. That was seeing MJ Rice literally yanking /taking the ball aways from a Texas player. - Like there was no way he wasn’t going to not take that ball- -showing he was engaged in the game. 1st time he has shown defensively anyways like he was locked in. Coach Self mentioned it isn’t all about scoring - it’s about attitude – umm HELLO you think MJ maybe got it through his head. you wanna play then you got to play both ends of the floor show some motivation to play on the defensive end. Thought that ws pretty good loved seeing that maybe some progress.

  This is great stuff. We’ve got the toughest league. Does this league have a team tough enough to win it all? Until Baylor and us won it was kind of the annual embarrassment of being deemed the toughest league and then no one from the league wins it all. The BIG shared this ignominy and still does and I’m hoping that league can win a title one of these years.

  Gradey has one overwhelmingly attractive skill… fast, high, and efficient shot release. Granted… he will gain more skills quickly… but he has a boy’s body. I even question his lung strength in college ball because he doesn’t seem to put up good numbers in the second half. Tired? He plays below-grade defense. He’s not a great finisher at the rim. He’s still learning to create scoring space. Passing… fair. Speed… average. How long before he can earn NBA minutes? I think most (or all) NBA teams expect a lottery pick to earn minutes in their first year. I don’t see how he could be on a court with NBA players in his first year. More than anything else he needs conditioning… strength and endurance. He can best do this in college, instead of scooting around in G-league. Within a year or two we won’t even be able to identify him as the same player… kind of like JWil.

  @BeddieKU23 to me it’s not about calling it tight or letting them play. It’s about being consistent. And that’s what EVERYONE should have a gripe with. The same play could be made on one side of the floor then the other with different calls made each time. Sometimes it went KUs way (early) sometimes it went KSUs. But how are players supposed to adjust to the way a game is called if it’s wildly inconsistent? The foul on the rebound at the end of the first half where Jalen got free throws was terrible. He also got checked at half court on fast breaks multiple times with no call at all. And then there were the 6 straight possessions where all KSU had to do was drive and fall down and it was a foul. Impossible to know what is and is not a foul in the games I’ve watched. It’s a hard job, no doubt, but it’s be nice to see something change when everyone agrees it’s not going well.

  @Crimsonorblue22 I don’t blame you. I am diabetic but no apparent heightened severity for me. Just a strong cold without the descent deep into my chest I have occasionally had since my teens. Hot steam helped clear congestion. Went through a few hundred Kleenex. Hoping for no relapse!

  UK was 5th in the Nation in offensive rebounding at like 14 per game - - they got 5 - -ZERO 2nd chance points - - -ZERO - - the guys really got after it last night. - -Now when we play like that - -THIS is the guys that I think can make a serious push at another title. Another big thing I love we got to see our Bench -Udeh - - Zuby - -& MJ - and they all did something anyways. Hell Udeh got 12 minutes - -those 12 minutes are huge - -Zuby would of played more if he hadn’t messed up his ankle - -only ONE question ? - - Where was Zach ? - -that to me tells me something
