@dylans Wright will be going to Duke as soon as Coach K retires. At least, Duke will go after Wright. Nightmare.

RE: Time for a Defensive philosophy change
@BShark I think you have nailed it. KU went from a 4 guard offense to an inside-out low post oriented offense the first 10 or so minutes in the game.

RE: Bill Self
@AsadZ Nice read. Thanks. Growing up watching Larry Brown and Roy Williams, I used to like Bill Self’s “Eddie Sutton” style of play. Now, I feel blessed to having him as our coach and a great representative for KU. He truly is a great coach and person.

Just take one of these back and we were in the Final Four.
Argh, what could have been.

RE: When Graham fouled out against Nova without comitting a foul.
Nova drives into the paint relentlessly to eitber collapse the defense, open 3 pt shooter for kick outs, or put pressure on the ref to call fouls. They made 40% of their points on TT shooting free throws. Shutting down the driving lanes without getting into foul trouble will be critical for KU tonight.

RE: Lets get it on
To all my fellow KU Jayhawk fans: Let’s all enjoy the game tomorrow night without getting a stroke or breaking any T.V.s.

RE: Lets get it on
@DoubleDD all that bulletin board material would just fuel KU players’ defensive intensity during the game. I am fired up just reading it. RCJHGKU!!!

RE: Nick Collison
@truehawk93 Great father-n-son memory. I bet your son will be a long time Jayhawk fan rest of his life.

RE: Billy
If Billy were playing for KU, then we wouldn’t have developed the current 4 guard offense. Billy and Doke would do the Self Hi-Lo scheme…

RE: Man what am I missing?
@jayballer73 I think most pundits think we are a good team and they think we have a legit chance to win. They just think Nova is a better team. If they think there is a 48% chance for KU (vs. Nova’s 52%), they think KU has a very legit chance to win, but Nova has a even greater probability to win.

RE: Final Four bound!!!
Doke is a lot more of a scoring threat than LL. Also, Self has perhaps turned the corner on shooting 3s: going from “fool’s gold” to “let it fly.” My concern for Saturday is that if we are looking to capitalize on Doke’s inside dominance, Jay Wright and Villanova may have a defensive counter and waiting for it. If a skinny Svi can effectively front-butt Bagley, how hard is it for a 245-pound Spellman to do the same thing? Also, If the pass is not at the rim for Doke to alley-oop, Doke needs a long time to gather himself for the 2nd leap during which he is prone to 2nd teaming and quick stripping hands of the guards.
Inside game becomes more open if we can shoot it from outside.
I believe Nova is looking for our guards to catch-and-look-for-a-passing-angle-to-feed-the-big-man-inside. Perhaps we can turn the table on them by adopting the catch-and-shoot mentality. We can out shoot them. 4 shooters with 1 beast down low is actaully harder (more multifacets) to guard than 5 shooters. Outside shooting success will force the defenders to commit on the perimeter from hedging inside. Lanes will be more open toward the rim. Currently, both Malike and Devonte are willing to catch-n-shoot, but Svi tends to hesitate, and Vick is still catch-and-look-to-pass especially if the game is tight. Those two are the key: trust your shooting touch, don’t think too much, let your muscle memory to take over, shoot in rythem, relax and “let if fly.” -
RE: How should Jay attack the find a way boys?
@betterfireE 1.) Yes, or at least Silvio is better than Dok at guarding the 3 pointers. We would peobably need Mitch, too. Villanova are alao tough at driving the lanes and in transitions as evident by scoring 40% of their points against TT from the FT line. Mitch is the best in positional defence, block shots, and taking charges. 2.) D’tae could be effective against Brunson, but he could get in foul trouble when Brunson post him up frequntly. 3.] Beidges does not out-athlete Vick; rather, he out-strengths, out-sizes, and perhaps out-tough Vick. For that matter, Brunson out-strengths Devonte. However, Dok out-strengths Spellman, de Sousa out-athletes Spellman.
Villanova is a tough out. We need everyone to have his A game Saturday.

RE: How should Jay attack the find a way boys?
@KUSTEVE You maybe up to something here. Washington guarded the 3-pt line and dared KU to score inside. I think Vick score 27 points that night, but rest of the team collectively laywd an egg.

RE: Langford
I am excited about the possibility of signing Romeo Langford. Langford will make it 4 McD’s AA in our recruiting class next year (possible 5 if we count de Sousa who came a semster early.) Is this a record for KU?
-
RE: Back from the send off
@JayHawkFanToo By today’s standard, one that started with Coach Brown, KU basketball was not doing well. KU’s last 3 seasons’ record before Brown was 52-36 (20-22 in the Big Eight), and the 81-82 season was 13-14 (4-10 in the Big Eight).

RE: Langford
@Kcmatt7 It’s a good trade for a Sr. Vick if Langford stays for 2 or more years. Otherwise, Vick has too much experience with Self’s way of playing and with winning to trade for a one year Freshman Langford.
-
RE: How should Jay attack the find a way boys?
@kjayhawks scoring 29 pts from FT is in a way dominating. It means that the team us driving the lasnes shredding the defense at will.

@Lulufulu He is going to have to change it up, imo. maybe he pulls a triangle in two, maybe a zone…who knows??? But, almost nobody beats Bill after beating him two times in a row.
This is why I think KU is going to win: Self will have a counter for Nova.
-
RE: Langford
@Lulufulu A senior Vick is better than a freshman Langford. We also need some upperclassman experience and leadership.

RE: Coach Self Pres Conf
@Eric-san Coach Self is still making changes on his coaching style for the better.
