RE: Brown before Christmas
Liking to see our bench scoring. I was looking at the top 15 ranked teams or so and finding a lot of teams with 4 or 5 double figure scorers. It was close enough for us today with Hunt, Zeke and KJ along with AJ/9, Flory/8, Griffen/7 and Shak/6. That’s real support. All the ranked teams today scored 80 plus and my blood pressure readings look much better. So on to Huggyless WVU who gives us fits in Morgantown but not so much in PHOG. Yesufu while playing 12 min a game hits 40% from deep. Get a win is better than starting the 20 game conference season in the hole.

RE: Brown before Christmas
Only two turnovers. We haven’t jelled yet and with only three players who score double figures there is plenty of room for guys like Moore, Storr and Griffen to push us up into a reliable offensive force. Hunt and KJ not asserting themselves enough.

@BeddieKU23 said in Brown before Christmas:
The amount of open looks this team misses is staggering
That’s why we score in the mid 70’s while the top teams get 80 plus.

RE: Brown before Christmas
We are guarding the threes decent but need to force them off the line.

RE: Jayhawks in the pros
There are 125 overseas high level D1 players 6’9" or over currently on rosters. Recruiters look for big guys who can shoot from outside, dribble and pass because US recruits are not as skilled. There are 1.68 players per high level D1 teams and the same for mid level programs. Most of these players know they will not be NBA players but come for the education degrees. Gonzaga has had the same assistant coach/recruiter for 17 years and that’s how they have continued as a top program. Some players may start in JUCO’s and the facilities etc over here are at another level. The coaches in the EURO programs are considered excellent overall. Serbia is by far the largest contributing country as BB is almost a religion there.

RE: North Carolina Champion to be crowned today.
We played pretty good all game and real good on both ends to put it away.

RE: North Carolina Champion to be crowned today.
Hunter has been kinda sleepy in the last few games but piss him off …

@wissox Whatever it was it was pretty.

RE: North Carolina Champion to be crowned today.
We make a few shots and the middle is more open.

After Hunter blocked that shot Middlebrook did a very nice looking ballet move.

RE: North Carolina Champion to be crowned today.
Scoring is about confidence defense is about effort. Both ends need a good system. Who seems unafraid to shoot? Storrs Juan, Coit and Hunter and our walk on’s.

Certainly about dollars. There seems to always be a Cinderella but with this expansion Cinderella may not be as pretty. IDK maybe a Shreck?

RE: Muck Fizzou
I saw Rylan Griffen report to the scorers table enter the game and chuck up a clanker from 30 feet and looked bad doing it. Self pulled him and replaced him with a guy who had been tearing it up by going 1 for 7 on corner threes and Juan thought I’ll shoot 21 times because what have we got to lose? I think that Juan could reasonably make 50% of his threes and drives if he did it every game. Mayo might also when he actually has an idea of where he is going before he drives or receives a pass and quits the cute pocket passes because no one has been ready even once. Hunter might as well keep chucking pull up threes because as slow as he is on the fast break he will have plenty of opportunities and might get in a rhythm. Can we learn team defense and relieve Hunter and Flory from ball switching duties and leaving the lane completely empty? I really don’t know how good this team made up of talented ballers can get but it better get going in a hurry because our stats are mid to lower tier in comparison to the conference teams. I have been watching teams play hard on both ends of the floor and show team togetherness and it’s enjoyable to see. If a player dogs it and doesn’t big time hustle on every play you see them sitting on the bench where they can hurt the team there also by denying the display of their real talents. No one but Coit seems to get it from off the bench. Quit subbing in bewildered looking guys. Give Zach more of Flory’s minutes and see who wants it the most. Come on Zeke, AJ and Rylan you are scorers and not a waddle of penguins outside the three point line. Run into people, get your shots blocked and you might end up in a place called offensive rebound land. Foul out getting charges instead of making lousy passes. Show the scouts you are not a possible pouting head case. NIL donors please make these guys do embarrassing ads for goodness sakes.

RE: Muck Fizzou
The season is about 1/4 done and overall the least reliable numbers to go by but I can’t let that stop me. We are a low scoring team with holes in our defense. It doesn’t look like the team is enjoying themselves which allows us posters to not be happy either. We are like a bowl of jello that has just been put in the fridge and has yet to jell. My question is what color of jello? I hope BShark isn’t banning for excessive whatever I am.

RE: Muck Fizzou
That is from a kinda protest song from the Vietnam era by Arlo Guthrie called Signs which was pointing out the conservative thinking about the drug and freedom culture fueled by the summer of love in 1968? Started on the coasts and reached Kansas about 1971 or so. The draft and the dishonesty from the military, LBJ was awful, and it was our first war that had 24/7 on the ground coverage showing the politicos and glory seekers in a new light. I know a lot more because I was a scribe working for the brass who realized that having draftees in the shit when they didn’t want to be there was a big danger to their fellow soldiers. Supposed to have your buddies back and vice versa was getting iffy at best. It started with discharging about anyone who wanted out with a generic discharge of "less than honorable conditions or expiration of service. Started about 1971 and “casual platoons” were based bound until due process of about 11 months discharged them. We/they worked on changing the process and by the end of 1972 or so separation from service was accomplished in less than one month. Ha. More than you wanted to know I’m sure.

RE: Muck Fizzou
IDK. Down by 17 at one point in the first half due to a slow start. Start the second half and give up a 16 to 6 run.

RE: Muck Fizzou
Flory is??? Zeke hesitates on his shots over and over and misses them. Not sure about AJ he is so stoic I can’t read him. All our new guys have a what just happened look in time outs. Who can create their own shots on this version of Jayhawks? Juan, Zeke, Coit and maybe AJ a little bit. Our offense can be really bad. What type of team gets down by 13/20 points within the first part of games? I was hopeful this year to not be a low 70’s to mid 60’s team. Ughhhhh! Hunter played tough inside.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
Sorry to hear he’s hurt. Having his perfect game and going down would be frustrating. Any momentum we found he squelched over and over and he was a freak that day.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
I’m not sure what to think about the Mizzou game. BPI has it as a high rated match up with KU by 5 points. They have played a pretty weak, understatement, schedule but seem able to score at a high rate. It will be interesting to see how the team responds and how we respond too. Is the downright hatred still felt? Probably not but there would be another court storming if things don’t go as I want them too.

Bush league fans. 35% from the floor. Wasn’t our team on the floor tonight.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
The last two years we had good teams but couldn’t shoot and it was our demise. I’m trying to find something good to come out of this.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
Did you see that turd #1 trying to get a call?
-
RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
This will count on them coming back to earth. Got down by 10 early and stayed there. Not a good sign for games I’ve watched this year.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
That effin #1 needs a smack. He rolls into Zekes ankle flops on Hunters screen and pushed Zeke out.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
We work our asses of for a hoop and bang another trey.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
If we get into the 30’s by half it will be good.

RE: Cretins From Craytin Game Thread
53 percent of their shots are from three.

RE: KU vs Duke Game Thread
@TYOHawk In his first stint off the bench during the second half we rebounded and took off he followed and looked ungainly and it occurred to me his ankle was stiff. When Hunter exited Flory didn’t show any effects and played his ass off like, it’s up to me. No fear. Love it.

RE: KU vs Duke Game Thread
I may be giddy and wrapped in the glow of victory but we have a decent chance to be 12-0 going into the new year. I think BPI gives us a 15% chance to win the conference with Houston the prohibitive favorite (before their AL loss). Current predictions are a conference Win/Loss of 14/6. It’s gonna be brutal. I would settle for 16/4 which is Houston’s projected record. I think this Duke/Dump has maybe put a championship gleam/glare into our players eyes. Maybe Bill is right about we are a work in progress but we have guards. Coit is ballsy.

RE: KU vs Duke Game Thread
I think Hunter was frustrated from missing the dunk plus four more in a row and the slappy pokey stuff all game. Then came the flagrant undercut which was so hard he hit Hunter and slid under him. The refs had let Duke grab pull on him every time. Hunter had just swung a get off me elbow on the initial put back attempt and the Duke center lost his cool and made a dangerous undercut move out of frustration. The following fouls that were called on Duke were uncalled fouls up to that point and Duke thought it would be business as usual. They pulled the same crap on Zona
