I whacked the regulator with the wrench a few times, and BAM, the propane started flowing!
Crazy.

@mayjay said in Gas BBQ grill problem. Got a fix?:
@rockchalkjayhawk I got so frustrated with years of propane problems of all types that I installed the natural gas conversion kit in a new grill when we last moved and connected it to our house supply… Haven’t had any problems since and never having to go empty is a dream.
Perhaps an option for you?
Smart! I’ll have to consider that.
Howdy, all. I’m having an issue with the propane on my gas grill. Anybody know what to do?
Basically I can’t get a sniff of propane out of the tank. Nada. zip. zilch. I just refilled the tank.
I’ve tried a million times to reset the regulator (this thing: https://www.weber.com/US/en/parts--et--support/replacement-parts/gas-grill-parts/gas-replacement-parts/hoses--et--regulator-kits/7627.html). Basically uncoupling, turning off all the valves, waiting, etc. nada.
Like I do every year, i spent hours the other day hosing down, scrubbing and scraping the gunk off my gas grill for BBQ season. Usually works like a charm afterward. That do something to it?
I bought a replacement regulator, but here’s the thing: I CANNOT UNSCREW THE OLD ONE!!!
That sucker is locked up and won’t budge (the threaded brass nut). I put all my puny muscle power into it. I’ve let it sit for hours after spraying with WD40, nothing.
Anyway, i’d like to replace the regulator, but it just ain’t happening. I am using adjustable wrenches, so maybe not the perfect tools.
Anybody have this issue? From what i’m Googling, it’s pretty common.

Finished season 1 of The Last Of Us. As far as zombie apocalypse shows go i found it to be believable and well scripted.
I started that when it first came out, but after a few I realized I hit my zombie show limit. Imagine that.
Yea, I’m only a few episodes in and I can see the gut wrenching in Yellowstone.
I like to watch something when I wake up and eat breakfast…and this is not a breakfast show!

@approxinfinity don’t you only pay for the PG-13 rating on this message board? Doh!
I do find myself watching mostly reruns on YTTV now that i think about it. Hmm, maybe i need to reconsider my habits.
Been watching stuff on Netflix and Amazon though. Double hmm.
@approxinfinity You must not watch much TV if you cancelled YouTube TV! good for you.
I always cancel the ESPN+ when hoops season ends. done.

Please be a big or a wing
Ask and ye shall receive.
Kansas a possible destination for Malique Ewin and Shawn Phillips Jr.
I dunno. We really have no true PG on the roster. I know DP will dominate the ball though.
And what, three total playable guards right now? DP, Elmarko and Jayden Dawson? Tre White more of a 3-4?
We still need a lot, IMO. Bigs and littles. Bring ‘em on!
@dylans said in Recruiting Notes:
Any interest in Acaden Lewis? The PG recently decommitted from Kentucky. Not a wing but another ball handler might be nice. (I keep forgetting about Elmarko).
I’m more than a little concerned about what we’ll get from Elmarko next season. He needed a ton of growth, but I’m guessing he hasn’t had any time to work on his game with that injury. I don’t expect more than what we got as a frosh. Maybe even less explosive. Hope I’m wrong.
Interesting for sure though. generally way closer %s than i thought they’d be.
@approxinfinity I think attempts would be a good way to help visualize this data, put it in context, too.

Nice. hope he’s a contributor! From the way back when HS scouting report:
Shelby is one of the better long distance shooters in his class. He makes any man to man defense stretch out against any zone. coaches mainly see his ability to stretch the floor as a key translatable asset.
His career stats from 3pt: 31 and 33 percent in his two years playing college ball.

KU, Miss St, UGA, Gtech
Dunno much this guy. ha, i guess i could say that about all these mid major guys.
Is there a reason to be excited about adding him?
Certainly doesn’t look like the shooter we need.
@dylans said in KU Roster for 25-26:
So who are the starters?
Peterson and Flory.
White?
And? The roster looks pretty incomplete at this point. Need another impactful player. Maybe that other transfer will be the 2?
Long way to go.
We’re gonna see a lot of former KU (brief) commit Riley Kugel next year. He’s moving to UCF.

@rockchalkjayhawk how about a picture of the most clever fan’s sign, the heart of the campus, the yelp reviews of restaurants of various nationalities near campus, the cheerleading squad (miss you lumpy), the distance to the nearest beach, some crime stats in the area, etc to present some of the intangibles that might offset low offers. And maybe some indication of the dark money promises that the shoecos might be sweetening the pot with.
Ahh, the shoe companies. My premise was flawed about who runs college hoops!

But is it ok to feel a little weird about this? odd all around.
KU low balled him to start, it is what it is.
ahh. interesting. See, since most of us aren’t privy to the behind the scenes stuff, it’s hard to choose sides!
It was, unfortunately, the objectively correct move from his people. The whole thing does suck. Flory wouldn’t be back if HE didn’t want to be though.
Full disclosure: From sources within the AD KU started at $800,000 and the final deal was $1,600,000.
Did he get a raise from last year?
I have a proposal for the NIL/NCAA/SEC or whoever rules college hoops these days. They could garner tons of excitement if they did some sort of public facing NIL battle for players. Bring it out in the open for all to see. Can you imagine the publicity they’d get? Fun!
Maybe a public Website/database of portal players with their asking price listed, and allow teams to match, raise, low ball, etc., all posted on the website. crazy.

Holy crap! didn’t realize that Jayden took 237 3pt shots last year!!! That’s a lot.

Flory straight to the NBA?
After reading more, I feel this current portal craziness is a one off. It will settle down a bit next year when the schools can pay athletes directly. Remember there’s a cap coming per school for all sports.
I’m going to hope for the best possible KU outcome and move on.
Well, if we hear squat about portal additions over the weekend, we’ll know Kansas was belt tightening and being frugal as they wait for the Monday $$$ cap to kick in.
Jim Nantz on the future of college hoops:
My concern on your question is the future of college basketball,” Nantz admitted. “That may not live as we know it another 500 years. It may not live another 15 years. Because the portal and NIL, it’s difficult. And I don’t want to paint it doom and gloom, I don’t want to say it’s bound to be extinct, it’s not going to be. But what we knew it as, what we grew up with, that model doesn’t exist anymore, and some people have a real problem with that.

Dix to Creighton
Ugh. He sounded like our No 1 focus?
Hard to follow all the chaos.
Flory was electric. Great determination and effort. I’ll take that x1000 any day of the week.
I’m spacing on the timing for last year’s portal signings. When can we expect to make additions and not subtractions?
@dylans said in The portal.:
@approxinfinity ehh still had a plodding Hunter. Dejuan isn’t fast but it seems he went extra slow for Hunter. Dickinson had a huge influence in the roster construction and the pace of play. Next year will be different.
To be determined!
A quick glance at other schools and the portal…
I don’t feel so bad now. LOTS of other big time schools losing 2-8 guys to the portal.
Unlucky that KU is also losing some seniors to graduation at the same time.
Onward and upward! Let’s get some guys signed and driving Billy Preston’s old car ASAP!
I’ve been wondering how other programs have been affected by the portal. Anybody know of a website that tracks portal entries by school?
@MR11 said in KU Roster for 25-26:
It is a 15 player roster limit so I believe he would have to take one of those spots if he wants to play. Had forgotten about him though and that is a good question on what their plan is.
14 this season with NCAA or self-imposed loss of scholarship.
Hey, we still have a starting 5, but no bench!

@kjayhawks He was encouraged to leave.
Too bad about Passmore. He looked like he had potential on D, and he has the proper size and athleticism to compete. I was hoping he’d stick around a few years or so as a foundational piece.
I saw a few flashes this year. Obviously limited viewing opportunities.
These are the kind of guys Bill develops.
Yeah, I wish there was time to develop anymore…
I think things are going to have to settle down with transfers and NIL in a year or two.
We have to weather the storm. And hope Self is the right guy to deal with fresh players every year. Off the top it sure doesn’t seem like it.

Like I said Shark is my brother…but I’d just give Coach some time man. This has been a SEASON. I can’t imagine how taxing emotionally it was on the players and the staff…hell we feel it as a fanbase.
Kind of Self-inflicted though! ha. or

Ok. Thanks guys… do you feel the absence of a GM will put us at a competitive disadvantage this off season? Do we have enough cabbage to field the roster we want?
Without any semblance of transparency in this new NIL era, these questions are impossible to answer.
For any public institution, all $$$ transactions should be recorded for all to see.
Who knows, maybe Self and Co. are brilliant money managers.
I posted this on the Portal thread, but does anybody even know if Flory is eligible for NIL cash, being from another country?
Wait, clueless question here:
Is Flory eligible to receive NIL riches? I thought foreign players were restricted?
Well, let’s sit back and pray Bill brings in a rebuilt, monster of a roster.
Jeez. Sounds like the ship is sinking.
Should we still have faith in Bill Self?
What’s the word?
