Epic brain fart — I’m sitting on the couch, TV on, setting my fantasy football lineup, asking myself why there are no player updates or morning NFL games on the TV …

RE: Previewing the 2026 season
Started slow and finished strong as expected yesterday. Nice to see a KU team be physical and dominate.
I don’t know the team well enough yet to pick out many guys by name, but a few stood out for sure. That quick defensive lineman and the WR who had a few very nice catches.
Marshall’s arm seemed a bit better than I expected. He does seem to throw a high ball though.
Also liked that we use multiple RBs. Keep em fresh and healthy!
And the stadium looked great! Minor complaint: they showed some renderings during the game of future construction. I don’t like the way the upcoming hotels, buildings and whatnot would tower over the stadium. Not a good look. Let the stadium shine unobstructed.

RE: Chiefs offseason thread
Yea, the Chiefs seem to have a few glaring holes to fill somehow. Maybe they can plug a few with some pickups tomorrow, I hope at least.
WR— Rice ( and Kelce ) have to be super productive. Worthy seems serviceable, but could break in half at any moment. The rest, meh. There are a few bigger name waiver wire wrs out there. I wouldn’t mind a run at Cedric Tillman. He can’t be as bad as he’s been. Maybe a decent QB can help.
As for remigio, also meh. He was about in the middle of the pack league wide on his return averages? I would hope there’s somebody better out there. Armstrong just doesn’t fit the Andy mold for a WR.
OL— Simmons. Hmmm. I hope he’s just got a small back tweak. Otherwise we got big issues with him out and no obvious RT at the moment. Starting to wonder if other teams were smart to pass on Simmons? Fingers crossed he’s back and stable.
I think KC has improved since last year. Hopefully enough to be competitive.
As for Mahomes, man I’d like to see him fully healed before jumping into a game. Seems premature.

The Big 12 has banned all athletes who have played any pro basketball or entered the NBA draft without withdrawing before the withdrawl deadline. I suppose that closes the door on any possibility Melvin or Tre comes back.
Does that mean Mbyia has to vamoose?

RE: Past jayhawks
Apologies, not a past hooper, but a KU golfer in the news!
The PGA Tour has suspended senior tour member Matt Gogel for six months for placing multiple golf bets in recent years, the league announced on Wednesday.
Gogel, who plays on the PGA Tour Champions, placed multiple bets on PGA Tour events in 2024 and 2025. It's unclear which tournaments he bet on or what the wagers were, but the Tour said they did not involve any events in which he was a participant. Betting on any PGA Tour event or any other professional golf competition is a clear violation of the Tour's integrity program.

Looks like the Chiefs added another body to the O Line.
The Giants are sending guard Joshua Ezeudu to the Chiefs, Jordan Schultz reports. Kansas City will give up a 2028 seventh-round pick in the swap.

RE: KU ROSTER 2026-27
Bored today, so I wanted to catch up on the Stokes hype. I didn’t know much about his size and athleticism, so I watched a bunch of highlight videos…
He seems pretty mobile for a biggish guy. He was handling the ball well, dribbling in open space and in traffic. strong finisher at the rim. That gives me confidence in his abilities for sure. He was aggressive.
I thought going in that he’d be more “4” ish than guard/wing ish. I’m guessing he won’t be quick or agile enough to cover a shifty shooting guard, but I think he can hold his own against wings and bigger forwards. If he stays in front of a quick shooting guard, it maybe hard to initially get by him. His size will allow switching and hedging. But these highlights were mostly showcasing offense, so we’ll see how he defends.
He doesn’t look like a pure shooter, not that I expected it, but more like a guy who can put up and make shots. I didn’t see any pick and roll highlights, but I hope he can learn these skills. Good size and strength to be a rim cutter and finisher. I can see him posting up from mid range and backing his guy down. He’ll be our baseline alley oop dunker for sure!
I like his confidence.
I just saw Self said he’s a mix of Wiggins and Josh Jackson. I’m not sure I see the athleticism like Wiggs, but ok.

Yea, let's be careful about posting fake news X links. not a good practice. This is a 100% fake news/troll account, called out by many. Stick to more reliable, known sources and the world will be a better place, maybe.

@TYOHawk what’s an exhibit 10 contract and wouldn’t that be more attractive than coming back to a crowded roster here? I don’t know what either team could offer.
It’s a one year, non guaranteed deal. Only worth $120,000, plus potential bonus?
So, coming back to college could at least be worth more $$$$.
(Sorry to answer for @tyohawk )

White is in play to return due to the injunction. Very interesting development.
I don't know if it was just the whole Peterson situation last year, but the sniff factor just wasn't right with that team.
Moving on.

Was looking at some ESPN fantasy football projections, and wondered what others thought of this:
Rashee Rice / 1,132 yards and 9 TDs.
Guessing that's on the high side?

Next trivia question:
Who averaged move points per game in the NBA, Markieff or Marcus Morris?
Markieff, Marcus was the better College player but Markieff was better in the pros. Fun fact, during those Junior years my cousin dated Marcus at KU.
Yer batting .500!
Marcus averaged 12 pts in the NBA, and Kieff 10.2.
