@wrwlumpy Generally speaking, KSU fans are too dumb to come up with something intelligent or funny, so they have to resort to the FU chant.
That’s one reason that I like Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan so much - they’re very funny without overt foul language. Anybody can get a laugh with a string of four letter words.
KSU gets a laugh by their play and their fan base.

There can be no response to any fight baiting. Another punishment like the last time could wreck the Tourney chances. If you get knocked down or slugged, get up and, ignore the taunt and play basketball. If they want to steal the ball with 10 seconds on the clock and go for a dunk,- let them. Let the sports shows make fun of their player like they did with the idiot from Monmouth that did the same thing at the Phogg.

I Think you are so far beyond 100000000000 % right on the refs making the calls - - really , really , really tight for a portion of the game. I just hope they stay one way or another on calls.
As a former official myself , in our pregame with the team Captains always made it a habit of telling the guys - - ok lets have a great game , play right - move your feet and don’t reach , you know what’s a foul and what’s not. - -found that if we let them know from the beginning saved a lot of headache later, the last thing the officials want - - the Coach’s want - - the fans want is a dam foul fest, really hard to get any rhythm if you are having to have a whistle blow every other time down the floor.
It’s a lot easier to call it close in the beginning of a game , get things under control , players knowing dam if I do this - - I’m getting called. - -A lot easier to call it close early then to let it go and then try and tighten it up late in the game and a real mess if it’s close. - you do that then you have people questioning - -well hell I’ve been doing this the entire game and NOW you wanna call that? - just easy to call it tight from the get go.
If the truth be known a referee could call a foul EVERY time down the floor for something if they wanted to - - nobody wants that. - -I have always felt AND been told that a sure fire way to know whether it’s been a well officiated game or not is the Players , the Coach’s , fans - -will neve even know the referees are there - -you won’t hear a lot of whistles. -Clean game. - - People don’t realize that people as fan how much they really miss even if they are on the front row of seats. - -Unless your actually out there on the floor with the players , you STILL miss a lot of what actually goes on in a ball game - - ALOT of contact and other things.
That’s why I feel your right about them calling close in this, I’m even sure they have been reminded by the Big 12 office , WATCH , and keep this under control , might make for a really hard game to watch but your spot on. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Honestly, as hostile as that environment will be on Saturday, we need refs that are going to call the game tight to prevent things from escalating during the game. I would much rather see our stars on the bench in foul trouble than on the floor in a loosely called game where something escalates and we get another fiasco where someone could get suspended or injured and derail this run.

But I’ve seen veteran officials push a guy back from standing over someone and T’ing them up instantly. The officials hopefully are prepped by the conference to call a fair but tight game and I’d bet that’s the case. As mentioned above, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the KSU players foul hard and try to instigate a brawl. Their Season is their worst in 20 years and over before this game even tips. Also I’d like to add that Self has not reinstated Silvio to this point, I bet it comes before the B12 tournament. I think it’s good he won’t be there but I bet the Love guy will be on KSUs bench or right behind it Saturday.

The Big 12 suspended Silvio until the Tech game, so he won’t travel to the octagon of room

@Woodrow I don’t trust KSU to have enough metal detectors or an adequate security plan. We all remember when Jamari got mugged and Self got pushed into the scorer’s desk. That happened in a “normal” KU/KSU game. The one Saturday comes after the unfortunate events at their last meeting in AFH.

@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t know about metal detectors, but they do have cow patty detectors at every exit gate. That is a sacred commodity in Manhattan and it is not to be taken out of the Octagon of Dumb.
And they have cattle prods if anything starts to get out of hand.

I had friends that got bottles and trash thrown at them, during the game, then shoved by crowds on the way out. No security officers did anything. These weren’t kids. They won’t go back.

KSU has been reprimanded multiple times for not having a proper security plan in place for end game scenarios. I wouldn’t expect guns or weapons to be brought in, but the safety concerns inside the arena are valid given the history of security issues inside Bramlage.

That could end at the same time as the B12’s suspension but Self hasn’t indicated that to this point. Meaning Self could sit him out longer. Also Silvio could sit behind the KU bench at home games but doesn’t because he doesn’t want to be a distraction.

I believe the phrasing Self used at the time was that Silvio was suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of the B12 investigation which determined a 12 game suspension. Silvio will be back in uniform once his suspension is completed.

@FarmerJayhawk I’ve yet to read or hear anything about about Self saying he would be back after Saturday. Yes KU accepted the punishment, but that’s all I’ve heard on the matter.

I’ve been to numerous KU games at Bramledge and have never had any issues other than some annoying fans talking shit the time KSU won.

I’m anxious to see if it is really true that there will be a “chair ban” in Bramledge (meaning no chair graphics or anything promoting the chair). I have my doubts that KSU security and administration can actually apply a decent security strategy. They’ve failed before and they will probably continue to fail.
This should have been authorized through conference officials.
What our guys need to know is they must keep their heads on and up straight and not let a school with a losing program bring them down to their level, risking all potential for a national title. That will be their main goal on Saturday… to bring us down.

@drgnslayr I’ll be disappointed if there really is a chair ban. That’s perfect rivalry ribbing. Way better than the normal f’ KU chant or calling it gay U. We earned the “chair retribution” (as long as it’s verbal) and better thicken up that skin!
