Exactly! And good luck getting people to work for you if you fire them if you have the gall to just go interview somewhere else. I used to write letters for my interns all the time. If they got a better gig before their internship was up I’d tell them to take it or I’d fire them myself for being morons

The difference, of course, being that your interns went to those other gigs and you knew that they would, and they were immediately if not sooner replaced. Whereas with the new rules that have been put in place programs can be held hostage by players who are not ready but are trying to interview for positions that they may or may not get. Meanwhile, how many scholarships do we have to fill? And can we? There is the flaw…

Not always. Depending on the time of year it could be a month or 6 weeks before someone could step in. Self, like I did, encourages these guys to test the waters. How can he encourage them to test and not know if they actually did? That makes no sense. KU isn’t being held hostage by anyone. Self has a really good idea who’s staying and who’s coming back. He wouldn’t even take Grimes back if he knew it would chase away Hampton and/or Wilson. I doubt we fill them all. By my count, we have 3 left to give assuming we get Silvio and Dotson back. Adding Hampton and Wilson would mean we use 12. FR: McBride, Braun, Enaruna, (Hampton, Wilson) SO: Dotson, Agbaji, McCormack JR: DeSousa, Garrett SR: Lightfoot, Udoka

The fact that RJ wants to accompany Jalen on his visit tells me all I need to know about RJ’s intentions.
RJ has already visited KU multiple times. To me, the most plausible explanation for him making this visit with Jalen is because he wants to recruit him to join him at KU. RJ is sold on KU and he wants to try to sell it to Jalen as well.

Idk but among other things he did a radio interview awhile back where he was drooling all over Calipari and knocking KU/Self and was talking about RJ cutting KU (obvs this didn’t happen). This was shortly after the FBI crap when KU was front and center.
Thankfully for us RJ has a strong personality.

This is exactly how I see it as well. Self can make it clear Grimes is gone but until something is official you never know. Not that Self would lie about it but coaches do lie and I don’t play Rod for having RJ wait toooo much.

Boy is he ever , I’m just probably making to much out of things but - - man just seems when ever there is the slightest opening it’s like he would be preferring anywhere but Kansas- - -thing is it is not his decision. Yet he holds a lot of weight.
In the end I still think we win out. - -I think it for sure is between Memphis and KU , when it all is said and done - -with that being said he DID say that Memphis was crowded , and on top of that he said about Tech that Beard was a great Coach - -BUT so was Penny and then he said so is Bill. - just think Tech is not a factor.
Really liked how he talked about Doke & Devon and such - -we will see
