WVU 2 FTAs vs. KU: Still Wanting to Know How Many Visiting Teams Have Had Only 2FTAs in Allen Field House Since It Opened in 1957?
-
I haven’t read a single explanation that can’t be shot full of holes, so far.
So: I am looking for some historical support.
What was the last game in Allen Field House that a visiting team was awarded only 2 FTAs?
How many visiting teams since 1957, when Allen Field House opened, have been awarded only 2 FTAs?

Thanks in advance.

@JayHawkFanToo A quick glance showed me the fewest FTs attempted against KU ever was zero by…
…wait for it…
…TOPEKA YMCA (1899)!!!
But that was in Topeka. Didn’t find AFH yet.

Boy the media guide is a TOME

@jaybate-1.0 Maybe try rewatching the game? You may be surprised that the reffereeing wasn’t as bad as the conclusion you are drawing from the raw numbers. More calls were missed against wvu than ku (it could’ve been more lopsided).
A recent comp would be KU went 6-6 against Toledo. If WVU had hit their free throws they would’ve been 5-5.

The answer is 1 since 2010. Don’t have the time or resources to go back to 1957. Iowa State in 2011.

Seems more complex a topic than the total number of fouls per game. For instance, I believe the early whistles against Josh (at 17:40 and 17:23 first half) of the Oregon game were a much greater game changer than total number of fouls called that game. A foul discrepancy alone doesn’t guarantee an advantage…KU has won games this year shooting far fewer free throws than their opponents. With that said, by all means convene the ‘referee gods’, dissect every inch of the tape, and then move on. Agree this was certainly an anomaly but I have watched other games of more egregious refereeing than this one.
-
@KUSTEVE So 6 current Big 12 teams have a better home foul advantage than KU. Interesting.
-
I think the KU gets all the calls business really only means KU gets the WINS. I saw a stat on here that KU has 300 Big 12 wins and only OU and UT are over 200. That level of inequity in wins can only breed resentment when most of those Ws mean Ls for the rest.
-
So much of stats can be manipulated to see anything someone wants to see.
My question on the home court advantage stat… was that calculated against the same teams’ road record? If so… Kansas can’t be at the top because they play well on the road (in comparison to other teams, like ISU).

@drgnslayr I seem to remember that being a factor and being a big reason KU ended up so low on the list. You’ll notice Duke isn’t even on the list. It would be easy for someone to argue that teams like KU, Duke, UNC don’t top that list simply because they get favored everywhere.
